This is a wholesale grocery store that sells items at unbelievably bargain prices. They have the full range of items expected at a commercial grocery store including fresh meat, produce, packaged items, drinks and frozen items. I started shopping at this place during COVID to buy items that had increased shelf life and after starting to shop here, it is now the grocery store that I frequent the most. This is one grocery store you must try. You may not like it but you need to discover for yourself their prices and selection. We found this a great place to bargain shop for groceries. If you see a product you are interested in buying, and it comes in two or more different sizes, be sure to check the cost per ounce or unit because sometimes the small size is the better buy. If you have ever shopped in a military commissary you will look around and think you are at another commissary. On Saturday afternoons the inside store traffic is similar to Interstate traffic during the holidays. Now with that out of the way, back to the store and their products. Easy to locate this store located in a shopping center, with a traffic light to help traffic going in and out of the shopping center. The store is clean, uncluttered, and the shopping buggies are not those oversized monsters. Remember they are closed on Sundays and the rest of the days they are open 8am to 8pm. They do take credit cards and cash. Back to shopping. They do carry some national brand names. There is no self-check. When we checked out they had nine cash registers going. If the checkout line is long, don't worry, it will move along quickly. Their cashiers are very efficient. Whenever we are in Winchester, we plan to do some of our grocery shopping at Sharp Shopping before go to COSTCO. If you are in Winchester, do yourself a favor and give it a try. This store is for you if you: *like bargains on name brands *have patience to go to more than one store to complete your shopping *love Amish cheeses, butters, and bulk spices *have a huge crowd to feed. It is NOT for you if you're into one-stop shopping. The prices are phenomenally low on most items, many of which are near to or past their expiration dates; checking labels must necessarily become a part of any shopping routine here. Contrary to popular opinion, this is NOT The best place to get great deals on meats (Check Martin's meat clearances or better yet, Gore's in Stephen's City - worth the drive!). But it is absolutely one of the best places to get cheeses and bulk spices (non-medicinal ones, at least) and baking goods (not counting flour, sugar, the stuff you find at Costco). The selection of other items varies radically, but there is a phenomenal selection of prepackaged shelf-stable goods (cereals, canned goods, etc). Personally, I'm terrified of the frozen foods, because I did get a bad pork tenderloin from their freezer section one time. That said, my husband buys freezer meals for himself from here sometimes and eats them without complaint. Definitely a fantastic addition to your normal grocery store, but it is by no means one-stop shopping because the stock changes so frequently. read more

Our family shops for groceries once per month (with a weekly trip for small essentials like milk and eggs) and we always start at Sharp Shopper. The deals are incredible. The stock changes frequently so grocery shopping is a bit like a treasure hunt - but we love that. It keeps things interesting. One complaint people have is the "expiration dates". People ask me, "OMG. You buy EXPIRED FOOD?" If it's still wholesome, it's legal for the grocery store to sell it so -- yes, yes I do, especially if that means it's 90% off the retail value of an upscale grocery store. The store is always clean. The people who work here are friendly -- seriously, their level of friendliness rivals Chick-Fil-A. It's unreal. The few times I've had a question, the employee was extremely helpful in finding an answer. In addition to non-perishable food items, they also have local produce and a wide assortment of lunch meat and cheese. (I prefer this so much better than standing in line at the deli counter at other grocery stores.) Sharp Shopper also carries baking ingredients (all types of flours, pastas, etc.), pet foods, household essentials (like foil pans, sandwich bags, and toilet paper), and health and beauty items. Coming to Sharp Shopper means I can get my family things we otherwise would not be able to afford. Before the Winchester store opened, we drove to Harrisonburg once a month (from Harpers Ferry, WV) because the savings more than made up for what we spent in gas money. This store features items at prices much lower than regular supermarkets. Their stock does change frequently so my advice is that if you see an item you like, purchase as many as possible to take advantage of the excellent, bargain prices. One thing to keep in mind is that this is not a traditional supermarket in that they don't carry as many items but the ones they do sell are brand name generally and the prices are well worth the trip. Personally, I usually buy juice, coffee, yogurt, dairy milk substitutes, sweets and produce but I also pick up a variety of non-food products. Additionally, the aisles are wide, clean and easy to maneuver your shopping cart. The staff is helpful and polite. I really enjoy my trips there and I never know what new items I might find.
