I have been going to Dr. Lister's office for a few years. However, my visits were for cleanings only. The hygienist, Margaret I have been going to for over a decade and she is amazing. One of the head dental assistant Alicia (sister of Margaret) is and has always been on top of any billing, insurance matters leaving no room for unwanted billing surprises. There is another Alicia at the front desk who is wonderful and welcoming. This was the first time I had to have work done by Dr. Lister (crown prep) she was detailed in explaining the procedure (from start to finish) professional, and clearly experienced. I didn't even feel the needle when she was administering the anesthetic. And from experience I know that's rare for other dentists. In times where we are seeing less patient care, it is comforting knowing that there are still great providers like her. read more

Dr. Lister's office is well-staffed, responsive, caring, and knowledgeable. She works well and respectfully with her assistants. It took a while (4 months?) to schedule my first visit, but my follow-up appointments were scheduled within weeks. Today I got in and out for 5 filling replacements in about 2 hours. Dr. Lister and her assistant Sonia were kind, efficient, and transparent about what they were doing the whole time, which I really appreciated. I am not Christian, so the Christian decor is a bit off-putting, but if it provides Dr. Lister and her staff the morale they need to keep providing good care to all their patients then it's worth it. read more

Highly recommend! I have been a patient of Dr. Lister for over 10 years and have nothing but great things to say. Dr. Lister and the entire team are welcoming, friendly, professional and caring. I have had many dental issues (i.e. weak enamel, chipped teeth, etc.) and I never feel embarrassed or ashamed. Dr. Lister explains the issue and offers me solutions and never in a pushy, aggressive or greedy way. I recently had veneers done and I could not be happier. Very disappointed with my experience with Dr. Lister and her office. My husband and I have waited 3 months for our appointment, but decided we won't be getting any work done with Dr. Lister. I was willing to wait this long because I liked her credentials as she attended Howard University. Unfortunately the office is unorganized and they have mistaken me for another patient, even saying they ran the insurance already for the person they thought I was. I personally work in a dental office and the staff here is the worst I've ever experienced. Dr. Lister insists she runs a "Christian" office but her receptionist runs the place like a hell hole. I truly hope she replaces her current receptionist and works on improving her offices reputation. Today was the last straw so I made a appointment with another office that will see me next Tuesday. Stay away from this office. The doors auto lock should have been the first clue. I walked in and was asked where my mask was, and I told them I was not told I needed one. The front desk person said they are really good about telling people. I informed her that I needed to call to confirm my appointment because one had already been canceled and there was no discussion of masks or hey send out some sort of info since you all are acting above and beyond whats standard for covid precautions. They shuffle around the office looking for a mask. At first, they said they didn't have any. This is a dental office. How do you not have masks. Honestly, if you are going to require masks, you should be providing them. Should have walked out. Go through the paperwork. They ask for my ID. I hold it up to the window, and she says no, I need it, but why the masks and the pen cleaning? You're gonna handle my germ infested ID. Don't half ass you're covid precautions. I get into the back, and the chick starts taking my x-rays. About 4 are done, and she's like oh I forgot, I need you to rinse your mouth out. I found it strange. I was handed a cup, which I thought was water, but instantly started to hurt and burn. I asked her what the hell it was, and she said 50% hydrogen peroxide. Wtf? I should have gotten up and walked out right at that moment. Without no knowledge of how sensitive my teeth are, this tech essentially administered a treatment. I have teeth that need to be crowend and a filling that has fallen out. You DO NOT PUT AN IRRITANT IN SOMEONES MOUTH. I have always been cautioned about whitening my teeth because of sensitivity. I was pissed and never have I had a dentist office have me use a 50% hydrogen peroxide mix. And recommended is at max 30%. So the icing on the cake. I know I have a lot of work to be done. The front desk witch who already had my insurance info and what was covered said she was sending out one tooth for pre-authorization. This is when she continued to get rude. I asked her why only one and that it would take about 3-6 weeks for that to get back. Only when it came back would they schedule an appointment. Then, my next appointment would require another pre-authorization and the same thing all over again. When I asked her why the whole treatment plan couldn't be sent out at once, she said it would be denied. I was like no it would be approved until my annual max was met and then denied the rest for me to pick up the cost. She kept saying this is how I've done it for years, and it works. The, the next appointment couldn't be scheduled until payment was received from the insurance company. I was like okay and asked her how long it takes them to get payment from the insurance company she said it depends. I asked what it depended on, and she didn't know. But I couldn't schedule any other work until payment was received. For someone who has been doing this for years, you sure don't know a lot. My treatment plan would have taken over a year to complete between pre-authorization, scheduling appointments, and waiting for insurance payments one tooth at a time. WHILE I WAS ASKING HER ALL THESE QUESTION SHE POPPED OFF ARNT YOU LOVELY TO DEAL WITH. At this point, I asked for a records release form and was told I would be going someplace else. Then, when I wanted my documents emailed to me, I was told it was a charge for me to get them but free to another dental office. I informed her that the fees are supposed to be reasonable costs. 55 to me or free to another dental office. So your reasonable fee is basically zero. I informed her that she obviously does not make 55 an hour and more like 14 to 18 multipied by the maybe 15 minute max that it takes to prepare an email. When I asked if I could just pay for procedures and have the office reimburse me, that was pretty much a no because the dentist doesn't like having a ledger balance. Seriously, go someplace else. The way they handle the insurance and payments this dental office is obviously barley above water. Stay away from this office. The chick that sits at the front is rude and doesn't know how to run things or how insurance works. The dentist said I wasn't allowed to cuss in her office. They wouldn't let up about my covid vaccine status, none of your business. By far the most unprofessional front staff I have ever encountered. The Dr I didn't have much of an issue with. But turning fixing one tooth into a 3 month or longer process is just stupid. I have an appointment next week with another dentist, not even going to bother with having x-rays sent to the new dentist. I'm half tempted to report the office for the surprise and hydrogen peroxide rinse that they did not receive consent for or informed me what it was. read more

In October 2021, I got a quote on the phone for work needed. I made the appointment, had the work done by kind and efficient people. I paid the total with my credit card($974). I even ask, "is this it? I'm paid in full, yes?" Her response was "absolutely". I returned 10 days later to have the work finished, as the crown was sent out to be made. On 2/10/2022(Four months later), I get a bill in the mail saying I owe $62. On the upper right of the page ... "Statement Date- 2/7/2022" with "Due Date- 3/9/2022". However on the bottom of the page it said "60 Days Overdue". When I called the office for an explanation, the young lady(Ana-Alicia) was unnecessarily rude. When I paid the $974 in October, I was informed I had "paid in full". Shame that one person can destroy what is otherwise a well oiled machine. Her bad attitude and non-professionalism convinces me to look elsewhere. May I suggest that anyone that gets a quote, get it print. And when you pay in full, get "Paid in Full" in print as well. read more

I hadn't been to the dentist in a long time. Fear issues stemming from various dentists across the nation. I even had fear of cleanings. The hygienists were very rough for not much scale with sore mouth and gums for several days. Now, myself, my husband and 3 of my neighbors go to Dr. Lister. She and her entire staff excellent. My dentist of many years retired last year. I decided to try one of those national dental chains. It didn't take long for me to realize that they were only interested in making money and not at all interested in me as their patient. Dr. Lister's office is near my home. I decided to stop by her office and conduct a sort of "interview" to determine whether or not I would want to schedule to become a patient. Upon entering the office, I was kindly greeted by the receptionist. Her customer service skills were exemplary and she answered all of my questions. Within moments, Dr. Lister came out from the exam area and introduced herself to me. I was so comfortable and felt so welcomed that I made an appointment for an exam and cleaning. I have now had over 4 visits with Dr. Lister and I could not be happier. She has been honest about the dental work I need. I visited Dr. Lister recently over the holidays for emergency dental work. I called to make an appointment and was scheduled me the same day! I arrived and the ambiance and tranquility of her office and staff immediately put me at ease. The staff were especially welcoming, helpful, and patient. My dental assistant Hector went above and beyond to answer all questions and make my visit as comfortable as possible. I hadn't seen a dentist in several years, Dr. Lister was patient, explained every procedure, and made me feel not rushed. Dr. Lister had several other patients during my visit however i would not have noticed, that's how great her attention towards her patients is. After looking over my x rays, Dr. Lister found an issue with a recent root canal done in France. Not only did she give me advice on how to go forward upon returning to France she has continued to advise me. I visited Dr. Lister she found 12 Cavities, I went to Dr Welbom on Wilmot he said the good news is that you don't have any cavities, I then went to Dr. George Alvarez at Corandalet and he told me there are no cavities, I requested to recheck it one more time if he could favor me and he did and explained to me with Xray why he believes I have no cavities. I have never slept without flossing since 1995 and always had regular dentist cleaning after 6 months, Dr. Lister became angry when I argued with her that I can not have so many cavities in just 6 months since the last checkup I did the dentist found so such issues. In the chair, she's remarkably efficient, and solicitous of your comfort. We went to this dentist because my husband and son have cavities. They refused to fix the cavities until they had a cleaning. I was more upset with them because they wouldn't fix the cavities. Then we had to cancel two appointments because of work and we received a letter telling us she could not be our dentist. We had to work and the appointments were about 2 months out. This dental office was a nightmare. Firstly, I waited 2 months for an appointment because her staff kept making mistakes and rescheduling. I waited because I wanted to honor black owned businesses this year. The office had a total LACK of integrity and kept calling with rescheduling issues. It got to the point when I saw there number I new it was bad news. I finally, got to the office and wow was the receptionist rude. She did not have time to take care of me. But, was in a hurry to reschedule when she found out I did not have my X-rays. My question is why in 2 months of waiting did nobody from your office tell me I needed to show up with X-rays. The dentist herself seemed disheveled and as though she was wearing too many hats. When I told her the receptionist was rude the dentist said she believes her staff over customers. That's when the experience had gotten to distressing and it was Extremely disappointing. She also said she only has 2 people working for her. One person in the front and one in the back. Dr. Lister has no people skills whatsoever. She is also not a great dentist. The cavity she filled for me between my back 2 molars continued to bother me for over a year until I had another dentist redo it. She left a gigantic gap between the two teeth which food constantly got caught in. My regular dentist in Silver City, New Mexico was appalled. It may flossing area virtually useless, I just had to use toothpicks and brush all the time until I was able to get another dentist to redo the filling. read more

I could not say enough nice things about Dr. Lister and her team! Dr. Lister is kind and always treats her patients like real human beings. She was the very first one to actually explain to me the importance of flossing (who ever knew about bone loss?!), and while I am still not a perfect flosser, I started spreading the word, so you could also say some of my friends began flossing regularly because of her. She really educates her patients about taking care of their teeth in a way that is not demeaning, at all. I can also trust that Dr. Lister never charges me for anything unnecessarily. When my old retainer didn't fit, she tried to adjust it (for free) before deciding to make me a new one. I actually suggested once that maybe I should get braces again, and she essentially told me not to spend my money, and that my teeth were just fine. Overall, everyone at the office is very genuine and helpful, and you truly feel like they care about getting to know you. I didn't realize how awful this place was until I went to other dentists. Lister was the first dentist I had ever been to, and she and the other dentist at the office (not to mention the receptionist) were rude, condescending, and made no attempt to to show empathy or understanding for my situation. At a certain point, I had an infection that was unbearably painful, and Dr. Lister refused to give me anything stronger than ibuprofen - I ended up in the ER that night from the pain, where I got something that actually helped. Dr. Listner says her prices are the cheapest. NOT TRUE. She has her staff do an exam and then claims you have periodontal work that needs to be done. $200.00 per quad.for a total of $800.00 before she will do any dental work. This is a gimick. I went else where and had no perio work to be done. She claims her work is good for 5 years...although 3 days after a vaneer fell off, $1500.00 worth of work, she wanted another $50.00 to replace the veneer. I refused to pay. Then a year later I make an appointment for an emergency and she deliberately told the respsionest to tell me I had not been there in over a year and she was not taking new patients. I went to Pima Community College for $65.00 to clean all my teeth, xrays, etc. I now go up to Phx. to Midwestern College for all my dental. They charge only one third the price of Dr. Listner. I visited Lister's office last December to assess the damage and to get cavities filled. Their office took my insurance and made a dental plan to show me exactly how much I'd be paying. When I did the first round of cavities, she first said I wouldn't need any pain relief however I did! She gave me the numbing shot 3 times and it still hurt bad enough to make me shake. I ended up going overseas for 6 months and when I get back I have 5 notices from a collection agency saying that I owe them nearly $300 because they miscalculated my insurance. They had my phone number (and during this time called me to remind me that of a teeth cleaning) and my email. I needed to go back her office three times for the adjustments and she still tried to make me come back to her office by saying "I did not finish because you have to see how you feel with a new filing." I truly wish I had read reviews on the "dentist", Sharon E. Lister before I chose her. Granted it had been about a year since my last exam but I am someone who has had no cavities since my adult teeth came in (I am 39 years old). I floss every night, brush twice a day and drink lots of water throughout the day. Imagine my shock when she told me I had 5 cavities! She also told me the stains on a few of my teeth were visible cavities. Um, pretty sure if you could see a cavity like that, you'd be in severe pain! She also struggled to remember where the cavities were when showing me on the X-rays. Alarm bells went off! Of course, I got a 2nd opinion. Wouldn't you know it, NO CAVITIES!!! I have insurance that only covers preventative care. I was told that some dentists target those with this type of insurance b/c they make no money on cleanings. They then invent things to make money. This poor excuse for a dentist and a human being was willing to drill 5 holes in my teeth so that she could make $160! Please steer clear of her! Of Sharon E Lister, DDS and other crooked dentists who would rather make the extra(easy) money billing the insurance companies for x-rays you don't need than doing oral patient care. I called her office for an appointment on 04Feb2014 for my regular 6mo. cleaning.(Since I have different dental Insurance) I've got an opening for next day. After filling out the usual paperwork I was greeted by the hygienist (Jose). After I laid down in the dental chair, the hygienist asked me..."Do you still have your wisdom teeth." I responded man! I am 40yrs old. They guy told me well, wisdom teeth have nothing to do with age. He proceeded by telling me how a 60yr old woman was having her wisdom tooth coming out. I was like Oh! OK. I was under the impression they usually come out between ages of 16-26. The first thing that crossed my mind was to think about the 60yr old woman dealing with the wisdom tooth, then, to think...As ignorant as one can be, would not a hygienist be able to see if a patient has his/her wisdom teeth when he cleans their teeth? They guy wanted to know if I still have mine, because he wanted to know if he needed to go all the way to the back(that's what he said) to clean them out. After the small talk, the hygienist entered the room with the vest ready to take the x-rays. I asked him, what is this for? He said to take the x-rays so the Dr. Lister can do an oral evaluation. I told the guy I have mine taken 6mo. ago. and I dont want to take another set or even be exposed to x-rays. Despite, some practitioners love to tell you we get more from the sun and/or T.V whether that is true or not. You dont want to be more expose to x-rays that you don't need. Dr. Lister came back to the room and started telling me that she could not do an oral evaluation without the x-rays. I replied I came here for my periodic cleaning. She proceeded well, you just cant walk-in and tell us what to do. I replied...No, I called you office and schedule an appt for cleaning. She persisted with her story that she could not do an oral evaluation without the x-rays then, she added, you know when the dentist count your teeth and gum line.(She must to have assumed I have never been into a dental office) I said, yes I have done that many times without x-rays. but this time the lady was furious I had caught her lying through her teeth. The irony of this 6mo. ago another local dentist billed the insurance company for an oral evaluation for literally opening my mouth(That was it) But Dr. Lister was telling me her story how she could not do an oral evaluation without x-rays. I ended up leaving her office; she waked behind me ranting how she is and has been in the business for 23yr(she said) and how she would not get in trouble for not having x-rays. Was unable to appeal the extra cleaning done. Dr. Sharon Lister and staff did not communicate with me why an increase in cleaning was required. They just went ahead and did it. I was post-op a serious surgery. Felt taken advantage of. Alicia of Dr. Lister's first said the office would let the debt go. Then I continued getting invoices. Now she says they will send it to collections. They told me if insurance won't cover it, I'm responsible. I'm on disability and unable to work due to 40 lbs weight loss in 7 months post-op. (Mal-nourished). S. AZ legal aid informed me that Collections cannot touch my SSDI nor can a judge force me to make payments. IF I earned taxable income they could garnish my wages. BTW was robbed of my SSDI online of $900.00 to top it off. Oy Vay. Must be making me stronger cause I'm not dead yet! Hope this review helps someone. Very disappointed in this office as they seemed so nice. I feel they are heartless liars. I wonder if the cavities she felt needed replacement really did???? And now I've noticed sensitivity there that I didn't have before! They never showed me the x-rays. Buyer beware. They lied several times.
