Imma be honest, I did not expect to be giving this place so many stars. I remember Sharky's back in the days being a place to avoid so when the mention of this place came up for some pool I was like ehhhhh I dunno. BUT, I am glad we came. It was about 9:30pm on a Friday and we were greeted by 2 gentlemen with a smile on their faces. Immediately informed us of their food offerings and beers on tap. Even offered some samples. I love that they offer quite a few local breweries. Inside is still dated and can for sure use an upgrade. They had 10 tables and the tables were also a tad dated but no serious signs of wear. Several pool sticks and they all had tips. Nothing worse than a pool hall not having tips on their sticks. It was $11 an hour which also isn't too shabby. None of the tables offer ball return, which I'm not a fan of, but no biggie. I did confirm, they are kid friendly at all hours, so FYI. Overall, I'd honestly come back here over venturing to midtown like we've been doing to get our pool fix. read more

horrible service. we called ahead of time and they said there was no wait. we arrive within 10 minutes and have to put our name and number down. we're the only ones on the list and within a few minutes, a table opens up BUT the workers end up taking the table. they play 2+ games to the point where we cant even play for a full hour. read more

My friends and I hang out here quite often. This is a nice place indoors and the employees are very nice. They keep the inside pretty clean and its a great atmosphere. They don't allow outside food or drinks so don't bring any in but if you do and still want the drink they'll put it in their fridge for you to keep cold. They have snacks, drinks, food for you to purchase if you get hungry. So far nothing bad or negative to say about this place for me. read more

Open on Christmas eve, gave them a phone call and was in there playing with a group of friends right after. Rate is affordable, the tables are like new, cue sticks are in good condition, and the balls are all well cared for. I would say it's been 9 years since the last time I came here. My friends came down from SF to celebrate my belated birthday after we had an early dinner last night. I decided to make plans for an activity for them traveling so far to Sac. Hubs decided to recommend here since the homies have about 2 hrs time to head back. It wasn't as crowded and there was a good mixtures of people playing. From young to old. There was also a Monday Tournament! Some of the players are good. The price is very good for 4 players. $9 an hr and we ordered two rounds of bottle beers. Everyone inside the pool hall is very friendly and the noise level is average. Everyone in there was cool. We played for about a lil over an hr. With beers and the total came out around $20. So there is no more arcade and no more snacks like the nacho cheese. I'm from The Bay, where pool halls are overpriced, underlit, and over run by wannabe thugs. Sharky's billards was a nice change of place. Sure, the clientele was a bit...young, like 18 year olds trying to inconspicuously hustle a few bucks by betting in a corner, but other than that I couldnt complain. Plenty of pool sticks are found here, as are cheap pitchers of beer and well kept felt. Theres a 5 dollar per hour minimum for 1-2 players, and 9 for 3-4. Like I said, that's considered a bargain in my area. minus one star for closing half an hour before their posted hours. Wouldve been nice to know that when we came in, theres not much to do on a Thursday night in Sac, so... Still, had an overall great time and I'm glad to know that's around so if I'm ever bored in the area I know where to kill some time. read more

In high school, this was my 2nd home. I learned how to shoot pool when Jared, Lenard, Randy, JC (Big Daddy) and Pat was still here. Every time I come here, I get nostalgic. There were tournaments held here every Wednesdays. This place was THE PLACE where EVERYBODY knows your name. Back when I was playing, anyone that lost would come to my table to help me practice in my pool skills. I do anything to have those days back... It is now under a new owner. Though it's located in a sketchy neighborhood, right across the famously known "ghetto" Walmart on Florin, this place is great. Don't really remember the price since I didn't pay, but I believe that it was cheap. There's a juke box for extra entertainment while playing pool. I sucked at pool even though I played a couple times before, but the (owner?) was nice enough to help me even without me asking for help. He gave a few tips which actually helped me win, but then again maybe I won because the person i played against sucked more than I did lol. The billiard halls in Sacramento have been around for a long time. Sharkeys was one of those places that was known as a shady hang out back in the 90s. Nowadays it's a different clientele, different music, different management. Gone are the bad crowds that used to frequent this place.
