Sharkys - Mexican Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

We weren't sure what to expect but we were pleasantly surprised! Fish tacos were everything I like - light, crispy seasoned batter, chilled toppings, flavorful sauce, juicy Lime and most important...FRESH fish. Nice portion sizes too. I'm not a huge fish fan so it has to be fresh and no "fishy" smell. This place delivered on all points! We arrived around 11:45 and by noon it was a hopping scene. Everyone seemed happy with their orders, as were we. Every restaurant has off days so those few of you who had a bad experience, I encourage you to give them a second chance! The only negative is the ambiance and proximity to Central but I can see where this would be the perfect spot for folks with kids or large groups. We will be back! read more

Sharkys - Fish tacos are fresh & delicious - some of the best we've found in ABQ - Mexican Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

Yay, Sharky's. Fresh seafood and really nice people. We had the shrimp tostadas, fish taco, carnitas taco, and raw oysters. All were very good. There's a mister to keep you cool in the attractive outdoor seating area. read more

Sharkys - Yum, fresh oysters with hot sauce. - Mexican Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

A new favorite with incredible tacos and a ceviche that's so fresh and delicious. We just finished lunch and might go back for dinner. The owner Carlos sat down and visited for a moment. I had never tried a michelada before so he made one for me to try. It was amazing. Sweet, spicy, citrusy, perfect! read more

This is hands down the best place to get fish tacos in town. I came in with a friend and we split a fish taco, a shrimp taco, the ceviche tostada, and the chile caribe. The fish is fried, flaky and light and the sauce and salsas are on point. The ceviche blew my mind. Its flavor is bright, and it was filling without feeling heavy. As for the chile caribe, imagine a relleno that's stuffed with shrimp and wrapped in bacon. *swoons* Carlos, the owner, is super friendly and clearly cares about his craft. Throughout our meal he would come by to see how we liked everything. He answered any and all questions we had and even gave us samples of the (super tender) octopus and the (awesomely seasoned) oysters. The only drawback is that it's a little out of the way, BUT it's definitely worth the drive. :D read more

Hands down the best fish taco I've had to date. Flavorful, fresh, and beyond delicious. Friendly staff and the place looks like a local joint at some beach somewhere. Only thing missing is the sand and the ocean. Seriously, this place is worth the trip. I ordered three fish tacos and some fries for a little over $10 and it was worth every penny. I could have probably ate another three fish tacos they were so good. The fries were your regular standard fries. Wish they had seasoned them with Old Bay to tie in that seafood taste. I came pretty early on a Sunday and got my food in less than 10 minutes. I saw that they have specials during the week so I will definitely be back for one of them...and more fish tacos! read more

This restaurant was closed down for a health violation and I tried them when they reopened. I ordered the chile caribe and fish tacos. The group I was with also purchased the fish tacos. The food was okay. read more

Yes! This was a win. Carlos runs a clean, tasty, family-friendly authentic Mexican seafood restaurant. The fish tacos are among the best I've eaten...seriously! Excellent ceviche, mouth-watering stingray soup, superb chile caribe, tender calamari and the kids enjoyed their shrimp quesadillas. Wish this were closer to home. We were just passing through Albuquerque and they made us feel like family by the time we left. Ate too much and loved it all. GO! read more

A tourist here on business, and YELP a huge HELP! I escaped old town's many restaurants to Sharkey's based on the reviews and I really wanted authentic. Only minutes from Old Town. My main goal was fish tacos and ceviche. Both were fantastic! I am more accustomed to Peruvian style ceviche, but the Mexican style did not disappoint. I asked them to make is spicy and they delivered, but still very tasty, not just hot. The fish tacos also very tasty - lightly battered and 2 were plenty. As far as authentic, the real deal. Picnic tables, friendly staff and background (not too loud) Mexican music. I have 2 more days here and will definitely be back! read more

A coworker and I have so far eaten here twice while working in Albuquerque once for lunch and once for dinner everything either of us has had we have no complaints from the salsa bar to the fish or shrimp tacos or Sonora hotdogs all excellent! I'm sure we'll be enjoying this place more while we're here read more

Awesome shrimp tacos proving once and for all that great tasting food doesn't have to be complex. Simple food prepared properly from quality ingredients will always win out over high end cuisine. These little nuggets were 2 of the tastiest tacos I've ever had, bar none. The deep fried, shrimp stuffed jalapeños poppers on the other hand , while good, were a bit of a let down. I just think they needed a more savoury and dense cheese stuffing. Overall though, wouldn't hesitate for a moment to go back. read more

Found this place thanks to Yelp, read the reviews and had to try and it lives up to 4+ star rating. We got Tacos, shrimp, beef and fish . The carne asada shrimp tacos were just as good I've tried at other 4-5 star places, but the fish tacos were the best I have ever had. I went back ordered another one to see if it was a fluke, it was not. read more

I drove a long ways to check out this Taco shop. I was greeted with two signs that said "we make all our food fresh so orders can take 20-30 minutes. It did take 15 minutes but to be fare, there is plenty of warning. So don't come in a rush, enjoy your company and great Mexican music. I had a delicious carne Asada Taco. Simple and clean. Secondly, I went a little Street Taco brave and ordered the Sonoran Hotdog. Didn't disappoint. They did a nice job on the bun. I would definitely come back and make a nice evening of it. read more

This place doesn't look like much from the outside - especially with all the construction on Central Ave. But, the food is well worth a stop. The first time, we had shrimp and beef quesadillas and a shrimp burrito. They were all fabulous - shrimp cooked perfectly and the burrito especially was huge. Since then, we've also had the mixed burrito and the mixed seafood tostado (fabulous) and the shrimp and seafood cocktails. These are not your traditional 5 shrimp and some cocktail sauce. This is more like a big goblet of spicy gazpacho loaded with shrimp or shrimp and other seafood including octopus. Our first visit was in July and we've been back probably 5 times with a bunch of different friends. Go and have a great meal! read more

I had a two tacos: stingray and marlin. Where has this place been my whole life! Just go!

The food is really tasty full of flavor! They touched up the seating area so there's shade and a pseudo-Caribbean feel that's really working for them. Sharkys - Baja fish tacos with their taco sauce. So much flavor! - Mexican Near Me - Albuquerque, New Mexico

This place came recommended from the scuba shop down the street, and we now understand why. The shrimp tacos were 5 star worthy, and beef burrito was 3-4 star worthy. Both were made fresh and fast, and we enjoyed them on their fun baja-themed patio (complete with fake palms and misters). We'll definitely be back to try their other offerings, including stingray tacos (they were out when we went). read more

Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! I ordered the fish tacos and chile caribe to go.I lefy with Fish Tacos, chile caribe, and a generous taste of somerhing cooking with meat and pnions. Both taco fillings came with very nice, small, corn tortillas that help up well. The fish was fresh and came with fresh cilantro and shredded cabbage. There was a yummy sauce as well. The fish was very fresh and cooked perfectly. The ground meat, beef, was cooked and seasoned wirh a little onion and pico de gallo. My sample was big enough to make two tacos. I will order this again, probably. I'm pretty addicted to the fish. The chile caribe was fresh! The chiles spicey hot, bacon perfect. The people were very nice, friendly and helpful. I wish I'd had time to talk more about the origins of the food. Next on my list..Sonoran hot dogs and shrimp tacos. Good stuff! read more

Food: carne asada tacos, two shrimp ceviches (large and a medium), tostada de pulpo, and sodas. While waiting for the food, we noticed at the other end of the tables, there was an oyster bar. The guy behind the bar gave us two delicious oysters to try. He asked if we wanted the oysters "prepped" and the seasonings he put on were super tasty. Carne asada tacos have great taste- "legit tacos". The pulpo tostada was delicious with fresh avocado, a great sauce, big chunks of octopus. Will def get again. The shrimp ceviches were big with plenty of shrimp, worth the money, my girlfriend thinks it had a bit too much black pepper, but we still finished both of them. Service; Attentive- they kept asking if everything was OK. Price; Priced correctly for the quality and amount. WIll go back soon. read more

Sharky's is a great place to get your taco fix. You order at an outdoor window. There is covered seating in the parking lot. The prices are fair. My husband and I ordered shrimp, fish and beef tacos. All three were delicious, the sauce is also great. The only thing I'd recommend is that they open another location with indoor seating. It was hard to fully enjoy our food while trying to keep it from blowing away. read more

Sharky's is a hidden gem. The food takes a while because they care about the quality of the food served. The fish tacos are some of the most delicious tacos I've ever had, and never over cooked. The beverage options are not very appealing, no tea or beer, for example. However, Carlos, the owner, is wonderful and allows outside growlers, if you so choose. He is always making improvements to the space, which is outside seating only. He also makes a point to welcome all customers. read more

I tried this place out based on many Yelpers talking about their great food. I was in the mood for fish tacos. I usually go to Tequeria Mexico for my fish tacos, but I wanted to give this place a shot. I'm glad I did. I had a shrimp taco and a fish taco that came with some sort of pink tartar sauce. I also used their little outside salsa cart to get some salsa and green chile. They are kept on ice, so no worries of food born illness here. The tacos were delicious and only about $2-$2.50 per taco. The combination of flavors was hard to beat. I liked the spicy salsas provided and the tartar sauce. I will definitely be back to Sharky's soon. read more

I went there a couple of times and Carlos has always been very welcoming and caring. The food was nice and hot and the tacos have a signature sauce that made me keep wanting to eat more and more. The area to eat is large and so tropical it really gives you the whole seafood experience! I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking to have amazing seafood! They also have hot dogs and Mexican food if you or the kids aren't interested in seafood but after having my friend try those tacos we both fell IN LOVE with them and will be coming back! read more

First, to the food. I ordered the fish and shrimp tacos, which come with half a lime and a reasonably sized cup of sauce. The fish was everything I hoped for, being light, hot, and flaky, while the vegetables, lime, and sauce do an admirable job of complementing the fish without overpowering it. The shrimp was likewise well put together, but my personal preference lies towards the fish. Next up we have the chile caribe. For the uninitiated, these are peppers (not very spicy, don't worry) wrapped in bacon, filled with cheese and shrimp and fried. These meatier cousins of the chile relleno did not disappoint; they are slightly messy (have a napkin handy, just in case), but totally worth it. We as a family of four split two orders, which led to another two orders being acquired due to their popularity. I only had a taste each of the fish burrito and the shrimp burrito, but they both seemed to be extremely well-executed and did not fall apart, even when removed from the paper wrapping. Finally, there was the shrimp ceviche, which comes with 6 tostadas which may be piled high with the ceviche, although this may become slightly messy. The soup bowl comes filled with a generous portion of shrimp along with a tomato and acid base reminiscent of the better examples of gazpacho that I have had. If we hadn't shared, it would have been easily enough for a meal, maybe even a bit more. The seating outside was quite pleasant with the temperature kept reasonable under the covered patio. I did not have any problem with flies, the only other nonhuman lifeform in evidence was an overadventurous sugar ant that did not come near the food at all. The young lady at the counter was more than happy to explain any of the menu items that we could not figure out. Overall, this was a very pleasant experience coupled with very good seafood. While I am not often on this side of town, Sharky's was well worth the trip, and I hope to return. read more

I'll admit that I was a little skeptical at first. I wasn't sure what to order either. But I did know that I am always down for a good shrimp taco. I ordered one of those and a shrimp cocktail. Both were nothing less than fantastic. Staff was super friendly. I liked the decor too. Reminded me of eating at a taco stand in Miami or San Diego. The owner even gave us a sample of sea snail. Was good. I couldn't get over what I was eating tho and just allowed my date to eat the rest. I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to others. Three thumbs up! ;) read more

First of all I paid $60 for my meal which did not fill me up and then did up going to McDonald's to purchase a dollar cheeseburger because I blew all of my money there at Sharkeys thinking I was going to get full. The shrimp still had a bunch of poop inside of it not cleaned out at all. We got Mariscos and the Styrofoam plate that they came in was a quarter full or less than a quarter... They add a bunch of tomatoes so it looks super hefty but it's really not with all the food that we got it weighed less than half a pound. You would think with this quarantine going on we should help out local businesses but why help them out when they have turned into greedy people.. i'd rather give my money to a big corporation that is going to take care of the people instead of stingy people like them this was disgusting and I will not be going back.. read more

I am a huge fan of fish tacos, so I decided to visit Sharky's with my fiancé and future father-in-law. I ordered fish tacos, and my companions ordered carnitas and asada tacos. We were very happy with our food and the ambience of Sharky's. The owner, Carlos, was very friendly and spent time getting to know us. He even surprised us with a free camarón tostada. He was genuinely interested in us and how we had heard about his restaurant. We were sadly only visiting, but if we lived in Albuquerque, we would be regulars! I highly recommend it if you like authentic tacos and great service! read more

Best fish taco I've had in ABQ yet. Tasty moist fish, sweet cabbage, fresh salsa, amazing spicy mayo and a squirt of fresh lime make it the best taco eaten here to date. Shrimp face was also excellent but Tues special of $5 for 3 fish tacos can't be beat. read more

I have heard about this place for a while now but really never got around to trying it till I had a massive craving for some good fish tacos. The Fish and shrimp tacos here are excellent.
