I love this place. Of course, I picked a lovely day to sit outside while I waited for a friend. It's got a great vibe; it's a house turned coffeehouse, open and bright, with wooden floors and center bar/service area. Order inside, and it's delivered with a smile when ready. The outside patio is embraced by a low white picket fence adding charm and demarcation to the space. You can buy excellent pastries inside, or go next door to the bakery. What a great find in downtown Amherst! While on a short trip to the area, I wanted to find a solid cafe that had good coffee, gluten/dairy free food options, and a comfortable space to chill and do some work. Share Coffee in Amherst ticked every single box and made for a very welcome haven on a gloomy fall weekend. Just a few minutes' walk from Amherst College, the first floor of a house had been deftly converted into a spacious cafe with so many types of seating, I probably annoyed several people by trying one seat, then the next. I ended up perching on a stool at the window for the first part of my cafe time, then moving to one of the smaller table for lunch and more writing. There was quite a bit of natural light from the wide windows for such a gray day. The rest of the space was still well-lit yet not glaringly so. It was clearly a place where people came to work or meet friends (fast wifi! outlets galore!), yet even during the busiest times, it never felt overcrowded or got too loud. The barista and staff were all super friendly. I started off with an almond milk cappuccino, which was a bit darker of a roast but still smooth. Share roasts their own beans over in Hadley. Once the hunger pangs set in, I went back for a turkey avocado sandwich and was able to make it gluten and dairy free with ease. Although the menu says gluten free tortillas, it came on GF bread and was accompanied by a side salad. The sandwich was a bit messy (the bread wasn't the most robust), yet simple and satisfying, and the salad was super fresh. That vinaigrette! So good. It's from (or made with the recipe from) Lady Killigrew Cafe over at the wondrous Montague Book Mill. I also picked up a chai latte for additional afternoon fuel. They make their own concentrate that can be sweetened with honey or not, something I really appreciate in the sea of incredibly sweet chai out there. I got mine slightly sweetened, and it was deliciously spicy (gingery?) and not very sweet, which is what I ultimately prefer. The person at the counter also happily answered my questions about the baked goods. While they do have a couple gluten free options, the GF muffins contain dairy and the energy balls have peanuts. If I lived in Central Mass, Share Coffee would be my go-to shop. I'll be back! read more

Very disappointed. Ordered a iced vanilla latte but baristas were talking and laughing, seemed distracted and got my order wrong. Paid so much money for a cup of milk that barley tasted like a latte, and no vanilla was added. Waste of time and money. read more

I've been coming here almost once per week for the last month or so and kept thinking that the lattes were very weak. I decided to give it one more try today, this time with an iced latte, and it looked (and tasted) like they gave me just a cup of oat milk with ice. The baristas are friendly and it's a nice space, so those are two positives. read more

BUT FIRST, COFFEE - THEN GREAT BREAKFAST I have been getting great Cortados and Macchiatos at SHARE but was starved one morning and craved a breakfast sandwich. I asked about the STEAK & EGGS thinking it might be too heavy but when they said it was on a biscuit I decided it must be petite. The sandwich was luscious! Great quality beef, egg (offered yolk runny or not) and arugula for a bit of green, garlic aioli. I've been back for this 3 times. Another awesome choice they offer for breakfast/brunch I ordered when I knew I would miss lunch. THE BUDDHA BOWL is quinoa and greens, sprouts with a hard bowled egg halved on top. Dressings to choose I take miso. This is GF and V. Plant protein and egg to power you through the day. I judge cafes by their lattes. Only a composed, European latte wins points with me, and by that standard, I just tried my first here and it failed miserably. What I got instead was a creamy mess, with no strong coffee flavor like a 'real' latte, and not composed with a well defined 'head'. Locally Amherst Coffee comes in first, with several baristas who could draw lattes in France or Italy without getting laughed out of town. I still get a dud there if I get the wrong barista but the odds are pretty good. My philosophy is if I'm paying $5 for coffee it better be DAMN good. Very nice chill atmosphere here at Share and I liked their iced chai latte on another occasion, but if you're looking for a serious coffe buff's experience look elsewhere in my opinion. read more

Cutest little coffee spot that was walking distance from our Hotel. This coffee place seemed either new or recently renovated because it was gorgeous and very clean inside. If you are anything like me, you admire the decor or interior of a place, and this coffee spot had everything going for it including ambience. Very friendly staff, superb menu and coffee selections, parking on street, but a bit pricey. If I am ever in the area again I will definitely return. I can see why the college kids like to bring their work here too. read more

Really good experience for a last minute cup of coffee. Went to go out with a friend went originally to a different coffee place in Amherst that had the wrong closing time on their yelp site. When we got in the store, they told us that they closed at five we asked us at that time it was 430 how what would happen if we had coffee we we have to leave and they said well yes, not right away but you have to leave soon because they were closing. We then called up. Other coffee places and this one said that they were open till seven come on by. So we walked the block and a half to them stopped in and had coffee and they were super nice and friendly and excepting and said come back anytime it was to barista's. They were super friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, neither one had name tags and when we got the receipt it had no name on that either. Very much looking forward to going there again. The only downside was however that the hot chocolate wasn't hot enough for me. I'm like the person that you need to burn a tongue on it. read more

I've been going to this cafe for 8 years. For a long time it's been my favorite in the Valley. I still think they have the best quality coffee around. However, I'm so tired of how much the prices for both drinks and food keep going up. For years I was happy to pay a bit more than average price in the area because I wanted to support a local business and because I know they work hard to have good ingredients for their food and connections with farmers for their coffee. Today I paid $18 dollars for a turkey avocado sandwich (with bacon) and a salad. It was already expensive at $15, which is what I had expected to pay today, only I didn't realize the price had jumped higher in the couple months since I last bought one (it used to be $12 for the sandwich and salad a couple years back). Never again. I like the food generally, but I wouldn't even $18 for a sandwich with salad at a restaurant let alone a cafe. I don't think I'll be going there often, if at all, anymore. The prices are just becoming ridiculous. Not only has the price gone up, but the quality of what you get has gone down. The salad used to be served as mixed greens with carrot, cherry tomatoes, and red onion. The salad I received today was only romaine lettuce with carrot. No onions, no tomatoes. I just don't understand what could possibly justify the price at this point. The workers have always done a great job and been helpful. Maybe the owner(s) thinks that people will just keep supporting the business no matter what. In reality, it just makes it more likely the trip will seem less and less worth it. read more

This place is definitely the best coffee shop in Amherst center. The interior is very nice and the coffee / all the drinks are amazing. I haven't tried many of their food options but from what I've seen / had their food is clean and simple. In terms of studying, I find myself very focused every time I go there to get work done. The music isn't too loud and it provides a nice ambient noise in the background. Additionally, I like to think that the cleanliness of the bathroom is a big indicator of how well the restaurant is kept - and the bathrooms are definitely well kept. The only issue I would have with it is difficult to find seats but that is because of its popularity. It dies down a bit between 1 Pm - 4 pm so that is prime time to find seats. TIP: they have a punch card where you can receive a free drink after every 10, so just ask for one at the counter! Depending on the barista, they sometimes like to give away free drinks too! read more

OMG There is overpriced and then there is insult to injury. $7.25 for a 2 shot latte is just insane, and according to your menu board makes no sense since a 2 shot large latte is 6.2?. The place was packed so maybe I am just insane. The latte was warm and had bubbles in the milk. Teach your employees how to think outside the box when charging , all that had to be done was ring up a large latte and note 12 ounce cup. read more

Share is my favorite coffee shop to do work in downtown Amherst. The ambience allows me to stay focused and get work done. The music is enjoyable to listen to and not too loud. I can get delicious drinks and food here while doing homework! Love their matcha! This place fits maybe 20 people total so sometimes finding a seat is harry especially if you didn't come alone. There aren't many outlets so if you're working with electronics, it might be tough. They have the perfect lighting to do work and overall comfy vibe. read more

When they changed locations and were able to expand their menu to include more food options, they did an excellent job making a really good breakfast sandwich which stands apart from the others in downtown. The brunch bowl in particular is really tasty and satisfying with the spicy peanut sauce. However, I'm not sure what happened in the last year+ but anytime I order a drink with oat milk, something tastes off. It was consistent enough that I believe it's the brand of oat milk and not an issue with the coffee or espresso. I will avoid the oat milk in the future. read more

I recently popped in and my first thought was, Rao's is looking a little corporate these days, tables match, the wall art was a bit Bed Bath and Beyond esque. And then I checked in on Yelp and couldn't find Rao's, its "Share" now, whaaaat?! What a ridiculous name for a place that charges $5 for a coffee drink. I'm a little sad that the gritty feel of Rao's has given way to Share, I mean there's a Starbucks in town if you want the clean, corporate, boring feel. However, a regular coffee is like rocket fuel, definitely an upgrade in that department, but the cafe mocha does not compare to what I used to get here. read more

The coffee is amazing, the food is delicious, but more importantly, it is incredibly heartening that Share is doing truly everything possible to keep its workers and customers safe. The remote ordering process is very straightforward, the timing is accurate (which is nice when you want a cup of hot coffee on a cold winter day), the signage/ instructions are clear, and the pick-up is as distanced and safe as it could possible be.
