I got my 4 wisdom teeth extracted this morning, two of which were deeply impacted. I actually feel great right now! I was dizzy during the first 15 minutes post-op (thankfully one of the girls helped me walk), but then felt back to normal right after. I took a short nap, drank a protein shake, took my meds and feel good as new! I have almost no swelling right now, but I know I haven't reached the peak yet. I'm taking it easy, but I honestly do feel great. I haven't felt the need to take hydrocodone either. I'm surprised because I've known how severely impacted my bottom wisdom teeth were for years now (since I was 18. I'm 25 now btw). I feel like I should be feeling awful right now, but no! Anyway, I kept putting off the procedure because the doctors I've spoken to in the past told me my case was very risky, and in my opinion, didn't seem confident enough to perform the procedure on me. With Dr. Sharad J. Sohoni my experience was different. I immediately felt like I would be in good hands with him. Not only is he incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, but he is also the sweetest and most considerate doctor I've ever dealt with. I'm glad I decided to stop being such a scaredy-cat and began doing research on all oral surgeons listed on my insurance's website. After hours of doing research (I'm such a drama queen I know), I found Dr. Sharad J. Sohoni. I'm not gonna lie, the few reviews that said all the 5 star reviews were from family and friends got me a little nervous, but I'm sooo glad I ignored them. Dr. Sohoni is awesome! Like the other oral surgeons I've spoken to in the past, Dr. Sohoni told me my case was very risky; however, what distinguished him from the others was that he EXPLAINED to me with details WHY my case in particular was a risky one, and thoroughly explained to me HOW he would go about it, and SHOWED me a visual demonstration to help me understand better. Like reviewer Latte E. expressed back in 2013, I too was in "awe of the CT scan." " I mean I could actually SEE it with my own eyes instead of having to imagine it or take dr's word for it." I agree with that part so much.
I also want to give a shout out to the staff that works with Dr. Sohoni! Including the girls at the front desk, the girls behind the scenes, and the very kind anesthesiologist. They all work together to provide a safe environment for you. I felt like I was in good hands the whole time. They make you feel important. I expressed to one of the girls that, if possible, I really needed to have the procedure done by today (my consultation was last Friday) and they did everything in their power to make a spot for me. I would've understood if they hadn't been able to, but they willingly and readily made it possible. The girls at the front desk were the sweetest. I noticed that about them since the very first phone call. They do their job with such a positive attitude. They explain to you everything in such a personal way, instead of sounding robotic and making you feel like you're just another patient. They also called me not too long ago to check up on me. They gave me additional tips on proper care, and told me what to look out for next. I appreciated that so much. Another thing I noticed was the great communication Dr. Sohoni has with the girls at the front desk. No wonder they're always on the same page.
Sounds silly, but if I had to do this procedure all over again, I wouldn't mind doing it with them. One of my favorite parts was when Dr. Sohini tenderly placed his hand on my head when I was laying down getting ready for the procedure, and asked me if I was feeling okay. It made me feel calm and safe. Maybe it's the medication that's got me feeling all sensitive haha but it's true! I'm gonna stop now because I'm starting to sound like Dora the Explorer at the end of her episodes. Thank you so much for this wonderful experience! read more
