Simply put, Lance at Shapiro Diamonds is the best. My fiancé and I went in with a vision that Lance executed perfectly. He is the definition of over delivering - the final product that we received was more beautiful than any of the creative 3D designs that he showed us throughout the process. He was very communicative from start to end and we will definitely be going back to him for future jewelry needs. Thank you, Lance, for the amazing experience. read more

Apparently I'm not the only one this has happened to. We called off our engagement after the plastic sample ring was made. At first I was told I would get my deposit back, but no credit appeared on my card. After weeks of not returning my calls, Lance told me he was keeping $2500 of my deposit. He held my full deposit ransom unless I agreed. This is not something a legitimate business owner would do. read more

Choose another jeweler. My fiance and I had a wax ring made, and when selecting diamonds we were repeatedly offered diamonds of a lesser quality than we requested. We decided we weren't happy with the service (which should be our right). We asked for our deposit back minus the cost of the wax ring (which isn't more than $150). Lance kept $2500 (yes two thousand five hundred) of our deposit! We felt humiliated and I doubt that was legal, but we were busy with the most important time in our lives so we moved on. WARNING: If you are considering Shapiro, at least look at the photos of an actual product Lance custom made for me that he considers "exceptional" work. A few are posted in the album above and there's another link at the bottom of this review. I'd give ZERO stars if I could. I went through the WHOLE process and ended up having to get a refund because my custom engagement ring was horrible, the experience frustrating and Lance tarnished my engagement. 1. The ring turned out to not even be custom b/c all the specifications I gave him he didn't follow in the final product, even though he assured me he understood what I wanted. i have all the email threads as proof and I even went in and pointed out with a pencil specific lines I did not want on the ring. 2. Service is unreliable and frustrating. I dealt with Lance the whole time and he made promises he could never keep. When the process started to drag on past a month we gave him a deadline b/c we felt like we were being pushed back to the bottom of his queue. He'd set his own deadlines, and then not meet them. Sometimes he would not reply to our emails. My friend went with another jeweler and went through the whole process in under a month. Lance took three months. 3. Horrible workmanship! The "PLAT" that was inscribed inside the band looked like someone had sneezed in the middle of inscribing it. The side stones were bad quality so much that you could see inclusions and darkness with the naked eye and they weren't even centered. There were dents in the band similar to hail damage and upon closer inspection, there were holes all over the ring! I found out later from another jeweler it was b/c the platinum they used was recycled and the metal forms "pores" after being re-melted over and over. They also noted that the ring was very poorly polished as there were scratches all over it. Metal was also warped making my engagement ring look nothing better than a piece of play jewelry. 4. when I sent LANCE an email detailing every thing that was wrong, he merely dismissed any wrongdoing and claimed the ring was "EXCEPTIONAL" and that I was being unreasonable. You be the judge; here is an album of 23 pictures of this "exceptional" ring. The password is "nina" (in all lowercaps). http://robertyu.smugmug.com/Other read more

I would avoid going to this jeweler at all costs. I spoke with Lance about getting an engagement ring done and everything seemed to be going well but then he refused to respond to any emails or calls. I was told on 4 different times that he was sending me over the renderings and I never got them. It became very obvious that he only cares about a customer if they are spending $10k or more. This is frustrating because I thought I had found a good place but Lance proved to only care about a big paycheck and not working with customers. I would never recommend this jeweler and would recommend you find somewhere else considering Lance lied to me on several occasions. Don't make the mistake of wasting your time here. read more

Great custom work at a very reasonable price. Lance was helpful throughout the entire process and created a beautifully designed ring within my budget and stylistic choices. Couldn't ask for better service. read more

I had a great experience with my recent purchase at Shapiro Diamonds. I wanted a wedding band to match my unique engagement ring so I began researching custom options. It was going to be more cost effective and I would get exactly what I wanted by going the custom route. Lance quickly responded to my inquiry with a quote and was extremely positive about being able to produce what I was looking for. He was always prompt and available via phone (although, never as inclined to communicate via email as I would have liked). He was also quick to make appointment time for me at all points in the process. He needed my engagement ring throughout the process so that the band would match perfectly to the measurements of my existing ring and while I was sad to part with it for a whole month, he got it completed in just 3 weeks! In that time, in addition to creating my custom band, he cleaned and repaired some scratches on my engagement ring, without having been asked or anything! Just to be kind and show his quality of service. My custom band is beautiful! It's a little tight and he immediately offered to re-size it for me (and he said to bring back my engagement ring and he'd clean it too). I would recommend Shapiro Diamonds and Lance to any friend of mine! read more

Wow - this place is awesome! My fiance had my ring designed and made here and we are just in love with Lance and the whole team here at Shapiro diamonds. He really gets to know you and your partner and suggests what he think will meet not only your budget but your taste as well. We just had our wedding bands made and can't say enough good things about the experience. Visit their website for a photo book of custom rings he makes for clients, and you will not be disappointed by the quality of diamonds and craftmanship he has available. love it! read more

Lance, Jared here. I just want to say thank you for the immaculate diamond engagement ring you created for my new fiance, Elonda. The attention to detail on the ring is second to none. I literally searched high and low for a quality ring and was very proud of the finished product you delivered. Anyone that I know of in need of a quality ring, I will be sending them your way... This thing gleams at all angles as you promised it would. Pics posted read more

Lance designed my engagement ring 5 years ago. It was gorgeous and when my husband proposed to me, I loved it. However, after a few months, my fiance' felt like it needed a little something more as the band was a simple band with no embellishments. We met with Lance, he gave us some ideas of what he could do with my ring and a few weeks later it was done. My ring was gorgeous the day we picked it up and I get complements on it almost every time I am in public. If you would like a more custom and boutique jewelry experience - visit Lance. read more

My fiancé inherited rings passed down from his great grandmother. Replacing the diamonds was no easy feat, as the prongs were worn down over the years. It took a bit of time, but I could not be more pleased with the end results. Both the engagement ring and band are absolutely gorgeous. Lance is very easy to work with. Thanks Shapiro Diamonds for doing such a phenomenal job. read more

My partner and I ordered our wedding rings through Shapiro Diamonds and couldn't be happier. We had a one-on-one meeting with Lance, who "interviewed" us to gauge our interests, lifestyles and other criteria to help pinpoint the right ring style and design for us. Ultimately, we ended up with matching platinum bands that look and feel amazing. Also, we feel that they're a good reflection of our personalities - one of us is a little flashy and the other pretty subdued/conservative. The rings are a great balance of the two. read more

Well, it's been six short months since we ordered and received my second wedding band to celebrate our five-month anniversary. Ordering was easy peasy. I communicated with Lance via email and telephone (when I was in the US). Lance used measurements and other details from our original wedding band. He then mailed the ring to a relative's address and my husband collected it on a recent trip to the US. My first look at the band was when it arrived back in the UK. It's full of awesomeness just like my other two rings! read more

I can't say enough good things about this business. Honestly, I almost passed them over, because everything about their luxurious website (especially the high-end photos of their showroom) screamed "out of your budget." But a friend insisted I make an appointment, and when I walked in, I was instantly put at easy by Lance and Kendra. They are as nice, and down-to-earth, and low-pressure as anyone I've done business with. Best of all, when I told Lance what my microscopic budget was, he didn't faint! He got right to work, and found the best stone for my money, and (based on some photos I provided) designed a setting that was EXACTLY what my fiancé was hoping for. On time, on budget, with no haggling or hassles. And a final product that looks FAR more valuable than what I paid for it. read more

Lance is and amazing person to work with! My fiancé purposed with an amazing ring custom designed by Lance and himself that completely took my breath away. And still, a year later, people that have seen it millions of time are still amazed by it as well! We are now in the process of designing our wedding bands and the process is easy and care free. Lance is very straight forward about design and is very keen at picking up on creative cues you have as well. He understood immediately what I wanted for a wedding band and knew how to make it even better. I can't wait to see the wedding bands and am very excited to keep having work done by Lance in the future! read more

Lance is hands down one of the best in Dallas. We went to the overpriced Robbins Brothers, then over to Marc Samuels, and then Diamond Doctor. We found an amazing Tacori ring at another store, and instead of buying it from there we took it Lance and he created the exact same ring with exceptional quality. He saved us THOUSANDS of DOLLARS just by taking off the Tacori name. Also, an opportunity came up so I could propose in California. While it was a short timeline he had not problem meeting it. My finance can't stop looking at her sparkly ring and we are extremely pleased. Go see Lance, it's worth your time. read more

I found Lance when shopping for an engagement ring for my fiancée. When I found Lance, I had been shown many inferior diamonds and was despairing of finding what I wanted within my budget. After having a phone conversation with Lance, we set up a meeting to see if he could meet my requirements. Lance knocked it out of the park and found a much better diamond than I had been looking for -- and at a surprisingly affordable price. The subsequent meetings we had to finalize the ring design taught me that not only did Lance know how to pick diamonds, he knew how to design a beautiful ring with them. Throughout the process he was open to my feedback and was able to find the highest quality side stones to match the beautiful center stone we decided to use. The design we settled on was simple and elegant, and gave my fiancée exactly what she was looking for in an engagement ring. I would unhesitatingly recommend Lance to my family and friends (and have, in fact, done so). He is a true gentleman and a wonderful person to do business with. read more

Lance is superb; he made my engagement ring in less then a week for less then half the price of what I would have had to pay in retail; and on top of that, he re-sized it for free (since I grabbed the wrong ring for fitting) [and he re-sized it in only a couple days!]. Not much to say, he's just great. read more

I met with Lance late March 2018. We exchanged information about making a ring to my liking. I was ordering a 3 carat men's band in white gold. All was going good until I asked about the 4 C's. I wanted to know the clarity and color more specifically; these are important pieces of information, wouldn't you agree. I waited for over a week and no detail from Lance. I finally decided to canceled my order. This isn't a place I want to spend a few thousand $$$ at. He has committed to a full refund of my deposit; hopefully I won't have to chase this as well. Would I recommend this business? I would not, if detail is important to you. read more

I have done business several times over the years with Shapiro Diamonds and I will continue to do business with them. From the first time I did business with them when they were just starting out to just a few months ago after years of success, they have the same warm, inviting, friendly disposition...not like some of the stuffy pretentious places in Dallas. They take their time getting to know you and your style. They work with you and are AMAZING at taking your ideas and developing the perfect piece. I have sent lots of business thier way and will continue to do so. Great quality!! Great service!! And great prices!! (And really lovely people to deal with) read more

Shapiro Diamonds is amazing! My fiance had a beautiful ring custom made with them and they have taken great care of us ever since. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a special piece in the Dallas area. read more

Quit looking because you're not going to find anyone better than Lance in Dallas. (Check all the other reviews saying the same.) He's a solid dude and a total pro in every aspect of the process: his expertise on ring types, his honesty in negotiating a fair price (in both buying and selling), and the professionalism in customer service of both him and his staff. Rest easy and enjoy working with Lance on finding your ring. Best of luck. read more

Lance is absolutely incredible to work with. He took his time and worked with my fiance to create an absolutely gorgeous custom engagement ring. From there, I had the opportunity to connect closer with Lance on our wedding bands. Ryan and I went to Lance's office and he already had some options waiting for us - based on our finger size, shape, and in my fiance's case, skin tone (we wanted gold - not too bright, not too soft). The rings are absolutely perfect and we could not be happier. Before going to Lance, we visited what seemed like a never ending list of jewelers. Some tended to nickel and dime you (pay for cleanings or custom sizing), some were pushy, etc. Lance took the time to get to know us, made sure to stay in our budget, and provided excellent customer service. Thank you, Lance! read more

Lance was an incredible guide for navigating the high pressure waters that is engagement ring shopping. He made me feel very relaxed, and was incredibly honest with me every step of the way. He had no problem telling me (politely) when I was being crazy, and let's be clear: he was right. I'll obviously be going back for the wedding bands, and I recommend everyone looking for a ring to start here. I could have saved days if I did. read more

Shapiro diamonds is amazing! Not only was the process seamless and enjoyable when my husband and I purchased our wedding bands from them in 2012, but I call them three years later with pregnant swollen hands and a wedding band that won't budge and he took such great care of me and my ring! Thanks Lance Shapiro! read more

I recently had the pleasure of working with Lance Shapiro and Shapiro Diamonds for our engagement ring. From the very beginning at consultation, all the way to completion of the ring, was a seamless process, and Shapiro delivered with fabulous results! Lance knows the diamond business well, is very experienced, and isn't out to 'screw you' like some people. He is cost conscious with the customer in mind, delivers a fantastic product, and allows you to customize your jewelry with what you have in mind. And the most important thing is my fiancé loves the ring. I can assure anyone they would not be disappointed with Lance and service Shapiro Diamonds delivers. read more

Ten years ago, Lance designed my wedding rings and did an amazing job. This year, for my 10th wedding anniversary, Lance designed an anniversary band from a picture my husband and I had found. I had an extremely pleasant experience when I bought my wife her engagement ring from Shapiro. Lance did a great job at understanding exactly what my wife wanted in her ring. After meeting with Lance a few times, he assured me he would provide an engagement ring that would leave her speechless. When I picked up the ring, I was absolutely amazed. He picked up on little things that she liked and disliked from all of the different rings we looked at and created the perfect ring. My wife was in shock when I gave her the ring, it was exactly what she wanted. The ring was a little big when we first got it, and although my fiancee at the time did not want to let it out of her sight, Lance did a great job of getting it re-sized (down to a 3.5) within a day or two. Overall, Lance did an outstanding job at understanding my wife's taste and was able to provide us with a beautiful ring. To all the guys out there who are looking at engagement rings, I highly suggest Lance at Shapiro. He has the ability to pick up on things that a normal guy could not, providing you with the perfect piece of jewelry that will make her heart melt, you will not be disappointed. read more

I will upgrade to two stars. Received a voicemail from Shapiro this morning stating they were sorry, they had been out of town for over a week. It would be good customer service to leave this information on their voicemail, but I do have to be fair and give them credit for at least calling me back. read more

My husband designed my engagement ring with Shapiro Diamonds. He told me he started designing it in August 2015 and it wasn't completed until December 2015 (when my husband proposed). He had it hand engraved on the outside of the ring, had a pearl setting, and a laser design on the inside. It was absolutely a work of art! It had to be resized a few times and I had bumped the pearl one too many times and had to reset the pearl once. Lance took care of any changes that needed to be made and ensured it was just perfect. Though it did take some time (ring was complete, fit, and all by March/April 2016), he was always very responsive and kept us up to date with the progress. Lance is a very personable guy and even after money had been exchanged he was still responsive and incredibly patient with my husband and me when it came to making changes to the ring. I wouldn't say they are inexpensive but you definitely pay for the quality and craftsmanship. I'd highly recommend getting a ring from Shapiro if you're interested in making something one of kind. read more

I recently purchased both my diamond and custom band from Lance at Shapiro Diamonds. I couldn't have been happier with the entire process and working with Lance to create something so extremely important to me and my fiance. Coming into Lance's showroom, I immediately thought his prices were just going to be too expensive for me to work with. However, after going to three other custom wholesale jewelers, I found out that Lance is just as competitive as any of the competition. Couple that with the most beautiful show room in Dallas and great 1 on 1 personal service, I knew then Lance is who I wanted to do business with. Shapiro Diamonds is the best place to get your engagement ring in the Dallas area hands down. You cannot compete with Lance's personal service, the quality he drives in his work, and the beautiful showroom he holds for his customers. When I was looking for a jeweler, I just didn't want a great deal, four walls and a roof. I wanted a place that I would feel comfortable with my fiance going in to get her ring cleaned and also a place I could continually go back to for custom jewelry. Shapiro Diamonds was that place. You don't have to take my word for it, go shop around yourself, but I guarantee you'll find yourself back at Shapiro Diamonds. There simply isn't a better place in Dallas. read more

I was recommended Shapiro Diamonds by several of my co-workers. Prior to working with Lance I had visited several different jewelry stores so I could give my fiance ideas on the type of ring style I would like. I found the perfect mount at a different jewelry store but the problem was the clarity of the diamond...it was horrible! I thought I would give Lance a try and I'm sure glad I did! My first meeting with Lance was without my fiance. I wanted to work with him on the exact ring I wanted so I didn't have to worry about him trying to sell my fiance a more expensive diamond. Right after meeting him I knew I didn't have to worry about it. He was very respectful of my budget and found the perfect diamond to go with the mount I was looking for. He had very beautiful diamonds and many different styles of rings. I could not believe the quality of diamond he was able to offer for the budget I set. He told us it would take approx 4 weeks to design the ring. I am not sure exactly when my fiance ordered it but we were engaged approx 5 or 6 weeks after I showed him the exact ring I wanted! It ended up being a little too big for me so I had him re-size it and got it back within a few days. The only negative thing I would have to say about Shapiro is it takes a few days for him to get back to you when trying to set up an appointment. However, he is the only one doing the appointments so to his credit I'm sure it takes him some time to get back to everybody. I have already recommended him to several friends of mine and will recommend him to many more! I am e-mailing him right now to set up my next appointment to look at wedding bands. Can't wait!! read more

This no pressure wholesale diamond jeweler made designing and purchasing an engagement ring a wonderful experience. From the moment Lance sat down with my now fiance and I, he wanted to know what we wanted in a ring and our budget. He never tried to upsale or pressure us into what we weren't looking for. Lance got to know my fiance and her taste in ring styles and then worked directly with me to create a custom engagement ring. My fiance is very pleased with her ring and gets comments daily from people about how nice it is. She loves to show it off!! We are both very happy with the customer service Lance and his staff gives and recommend them to anyone we can. Thanks Lance so much for making us a beautiful ring!! read more

Below is a review I have posted to other sites. I just want to get the word out about what a great, professional experience buying from Shapiro Diamonds has been. It has now been a month since we closed the deal, and I know I will go back to Lance in the future. Great buying experience! My fiancee's friend used Shapiro Diamonds for her engagement ring and recommended him to us. I had a relatively high budget, but it was only enough to buy a "normal"-looking ring at one of the high-end retailers. I was shocked at how much further my money went at Shapiro diamonds. Lance's brand new offices are top-notch, and provided a more professional and secure buying experience than I have had at any other jewelry store. Despite what some other reviewers have written, Lance showed me diamonds in a range of prices, but all were visually stunning. In my opinion, Lance would not put his reputation at risk by selling a low-quality stone. In short, I was able to find a STUNNING stone and get it set in platinum for a little more than half what it would have cost elsewhere. My fiancee would have ended up with a nice ring with or without Shapiro Diamonds; but Lance made my money go so much further and allowed me to afford a ring that is truly amazing. I have no bias here--Lance is not my uncle or anything like that--I just want to let people know that using Shapiro Diamonds is the best decision I could have made. read more

Lance and Kendra are very professional and explained the entire process of creating a new ring. This ring was a 10 year anniversary wedding ring for me. We had a design that we gave to Lance and he created exactly what I wanted in a timely manner, couldn't be more pleased. We had a little surprise stone that is my birth stone and that really made it extra special. We will be having a new ring made for my husband! read more

Lance at Shapiro Diamonds is great. My wife's wedding ring is about 5 years old and had a few loose prongs. All I was looking for was to get those tightened. He did a full cleaning and tightened the prongs and the ring looks just like it did when I first bought it. I will definitely be going back to Lance for any jewelry or diamond needs. He even went out of his way to drop the ring off at my office. Thanks Lance! read more

This review is a little late but better late than never! My husband and I went to Lance after sending out a TON of requests to jewelers across DFW for my engagement and our wedding rings. We were very specific about the engraving and filigree work and we wanted them in platinum. About half the jewelers wrote back and tried to talk us into doing the rings in white gold instead which is definitely not what we wanted. We eventually landed on Lance and went in for an appointment. We discussed specifics, timeline and price and decided to move forward. Lance lived up to everything he promised! The rings turned out beautifully. In fact, we thought they were such a great quality that for Christmas that year, my husband went back to Lance to get me diamond earrings. I had requested a special backing and Lance came through. I would highly recommend using Lance for any of your jewelry needs but especially if you need something unique or custom. read more
