We were excited to try this place as it had great reviews. They claim it's better than Mima's tacos. Sadly, NO. The tacos are full of rice, beans and cheese, very little chicken or carne guisada. The meat on both the chicken verde and carne guisada had ZERO flavor. I had to drown it in their mild green sauce. I will say the mild green sauce is really good and in my opinion, better than Mima's green sauce. The fish taco had flavor, but was cold. Sorry Shamrock's we won't be back.

Why is there eggs on my Texan? Service is nice and friendly. I like the back room where you can sit if you wanted.

Clockwise from top left: cabo (fish taco), cowgirl, lil peep, migas.

I dunno why people would hate on this place. It's terrific! Tacos go for $2-5 but you really only need two for a meal (okay, three of you're hungry). I got the migas taco and the cowgirl. My SO got the big peep and the Cabo taco. It wasn't too busy so we got our tacos in 5-10 minutes. The first thing that stuff out about these tacos was that they were loaded! Each taco is so substantial.. Migas - basic taco with what you'd expect. I used a lot of salsa to liven it up. Cowgirl - really filling and a bit messy. The pepperjack queso is a bit saucy. Big peep - tasty mix of things, again the queso smothered and caused the tortilla to fall apart Cabo taco - excellent! Would recommend this for sure! The fried fish is crispy and soo good! I'd definitely come back for a quick and filling meal. Tip: you can order ahead online too!

Got the taco surprisingly fast and they tasted good. The seating area was clean and well kept.

Surprisingly good tacos at this small stand located inside a Diamond Shamrock gas station. A local favorite for years.

Excellent breakfast tacos. So many choices but they're always really good. They're a bit like Torchy's but the tacos are more stuffed.

Best breakfast tacos in the area. The nicest people. Grab your tacos to go or sit at the tables in the back. A Wimberley staple.

Let's start with the good, because it'll be quick. The chips, queso, and salsa bar? Absolute stars. If the rest of the meal had matched that energy, I'd be writing this review with tears of joy instead of emotional damage. Now, the tacos. I ordered a fajita taco since they don't offer asada or anything a la Mexicana. Added cheese, avocado, and a side over‑easy egg because I'm an optimist. The first bite tasted like the meat had been personally offended by me in a past life. I genuinely almost gagged. Not "oh this isn't great" -- I mean my body tried to exit the situation. Then came the bacon, egg, cheese, and potato taco. One bite. ONE. The smoke level was so intense I thought someone had served me a campfire wrapped in a tortilla. I love flavor, but I don't need my breakfast taco to come with a side of PTSD. My friend ordered the crispy taco plate and two carne guisada with cheese. He asked for fresh jalapeños -- they never arrived. The crispy shells weren't homemade, and the beans were so aggressively smoked they tasted like they'd been punished. The carne guisada, though? Fantastic. Truly delicious. The one bright, shining, competent dish in the whole experience. Overall, this meal was a plot twist I did not see coming. I wanted tacos. I got a survival challenge. If you go, stick to the queso and the carne guisada and you might make it out okay....as I was walking out I overheard a customer showing the waitress a rotten and expired orange juice that he was served .....

Texas + Mexican food = TexMex. It's just not my thing. I'm a California girl and grew up with real Mexican food. Plus numerous trips to Mexico (from border towns to Mexico City to Cancun). Nowhere in Mexico (or California) have I had chili poured over everything in place of enchilada sauce or mole. And Durango's is the only place I've had an enchilada (meat, cheese or otherwise) that is NOT covered in chili. Service has always been good, even when I've been a bit choosy. Which I know I can be. Chips are the best in town, hands down. Prices are very reasonable. AND, they have a drive thru window that is very convenient. But, call your order in first. It's always been ready when I get there to pick up. There is also a discount for cash. If I have one negative, it's for the temperatures on the beans and rice. Definitely need to be warmer. I prefer mine very hot, so this is the only place they loose a star.
