I came into Mimi's Tacos ready to have a wholesome little taco moment in Wimberley... and instead I left questioning my life choices, my palate, and possibly my immune system. Let's start with the good, because it'll be quick. The chips, queso, and salsa bar? Absolute stars. If the rest of the meal had matched that energy, I'd be writing this review with tears of joy instead of emotional damage. Now, the tacos. I ordered a fajita taco since they don't offer asada or anything a la Mexicana. Added cheese, avocado, and a side over‑easy egg because I'm an optimist. The first bite tasted like the meat had been personally offended by me in a past life. I genuinely almost gagged. Not "oh this isn't great" -- I mean my body tried to exit the situation. Then came the bacon, egg, cheese, and potato taco. One bite. ONE. The smoke level was so intense I thought someone had served me a campfire wrapped in a tortilla. I love flavor, but I don't need my breakfast taco to come with a side of PTSD. My friend ordered the crispy taco plate and two carne guisada with cheese. He asked for fresh jalapeños -- they never arrived. The crispy shells weren't homemade, and the beans were so aggressively smoked they tasted like they'd been punished. The carne guisada, though? We stopped here on our way to Wimberley Market Days and boy, was that the right choice!! We got the Migas plate ($9.50) and Huevos Ranchero plate ($9.50) They both came with potatoes, refried beans and fresh tortillas. The service was quick and the food was delicious. They have salsa bar, so it was a choose your own adventure with heat. My wife loved the green sauce. They have a lovely outdoor sitting area. We will be back! read more

Came to get some breakfast items to go. This looks to be a local joint. The inside is not as nice as the restaurants in the tourist part of the town. The food was okay. After spending the weekend in Wimberley from Austin, we stopped by for breakfast and the food was barely edible. For me to leave my tacos mostly uneaten is extremely rare but Mina's made it happen. We ordered 4 tacos. Barbacoa was the best and only taco fully enjoyed. Rated it a 7 out of 10. It was good despite being very greasy. Carne Guisada taco was tender and decent. Rating 6.5. The Tejano taco was a salty mess. Couldn't eat more than 2 bites. Rating 2. Chorizo egg bean and potato taco was officially the worst taco I've ever tasted. The chorizo had a grainy texture I've never experienced before and was overpowering the entire taco by a ratio of 5 to 1. I could barely tell there were other ingredients. It was exceptionally bad. Rating 1. The homemade tortilla was worth the single point. Strangely, the restaurant was busy with call-in orders and folks eating in the dining room. Dear fine folks of Wimberley, you deserve a better taco game. Any aspiring cook with good taco skills would crush here. In the meantime, local residents don't have many options so they settle or drive to Austin to get a proper breakfast taco. Skip Mina's and head over to Wimberley Cafe for a good breakfast. read more

VERY happy that the beloved taco spot has returned with another generation. The food is great, the staff are fantastic, the place is even cleaned up a bit. The menu has changed slightly but the same salsa bar is still there. Better yet, you can now use plastic so you don't have to scramble for cash. The only major pain is that there are no prices?!? Another part of the entire post-pandemic economy that is anti consumer? Or, more likely, haven't put them up yet. Well, if I can see prices before I order, I'll update my review. Until then, your guess what they charge until they charge. I had the breakfast taco special when I came in. It was a brisket & bean breakfast taco.
