Great kosher restaurant near Aventura Florida. Great food tasty food definitely will be coming back

Once more cane to Shalom Haifa as this is the best falafel and babaganoush in Miami hands down! Too bad that yesterday they were out of the babaganoush but we had the eggplant salad that is very good as well... I am not a Hummus person, but my family tells me that it is very good!! The pita is warm and good... they do serve several appetizer salads "on the house " which I find very nice! My daughter had the parguiot "chicken" that was very good and tasty!!! Diet coke is on a can!!! Love it!!! The place is clean and service is quite good by the owner... this is a family ran business, so they have not let down quality!! They have tip included and they do tell you when the check arrives.... CONGRATS for that.... All in all, will keep coming back here....

Jerusalem Mix

Our group had a split reaction with as many likes and dislikes, so it's a shame, but we're not going back. We tried it a few years ago with better results. I was among the likes. They started us off with free small bowls of cold homemade babaganoush, cole slaw, corn, cabbage, beets and chick peas. Plus there was a plate of puffy pita bread. The entrees came with a choice of French fries, sweet potato or rice and beans, but a few of the wives successfully substituted Israeli salad. My entree was the Jerusalem mix, which was a mixture of small pieces of chicken, beef and lamb sautéed a jus with onions cooked medium well. I enjoyed it, even wiping the tasty sauce off my plate with pita. The sweet potato side wasn't a whole, but only a thick slice. We didn't order appetizers, desserts or drinks, except water and a sole grapefruit juice, and the total came out to $82 per couple, which included an 18% tip. The service was prompt, friendly, and accommodating. It's kosher and they spoke both Hebrew and English. Most dishes were Israeli or Moroccan. The background music was Middle Eastern. It'll located in a strip mall and has several outdoor tables, but it was about 90 degrees, so we were happy at our large round air conditioned table inside.

Dinner menu... pricey main courses

This was an unexpected stop on the way north. After leaving laurenzos we were heading up Dixie and looking for a late lunch or snack having only shared a hot dog at Sams club. This was the first place open with parking. Prices for main meals are pretty pricey -- it's only their dinner menu. But it is a kosher restaurant which is usually costlier. And an 18% tip is added to all checks. We considered leaving, but our iced teas were already on the table. Instead we ordered a combo salad and a grape leaves appetizer to share. First we were given a bowl of pickled cabbage and carrots for the table. Then came 2 pieces of pillowy hot pita bread. Then the combo plate with two different eggplant -- one a chopped eggplant salad and the other babbaghanoush; plus tehina (sesame seed paste -- like nut butter) and hummus (from chick peas) and some red roasted peppers. My favorite was the hummus. Our order of grape leaves came next -- served hot;they were stuffed with rice and herbs; although we'd been told they had beef in them, there was no meat. A plate with four fried felafel balls came next -- which we weren't expecting but we were told that came with the combo. We added salt to everything and mixed and matched bits of the pickled cabbage and peppers to torn off corners of pita to make different combo mini sandwiches. We were stuffed. The dips could have used a bit more pizzazz but were still ok. And it would have been nice to get a refill on our iced tea... service was pleasant. It was not very busy.

Ordered lunch take out one of the few Kosher for Passover places I usually don't do negative reviews but his is ridiculous and abusive Bills was $37.45 for chicken and fries Just plain disappointing won't be coming back

The real deal. Great home style cooking and very friendly service. Love trying different types of food and this kosher family owned restaurant was a delight with delicious food and very large portions. Shown is the Sunday special and stuffed cabbage.

Food

Came by with my brother and ordered an assortment of food. Would say the schnitzel is my favorite item on the menu. This spot makes you feel at home, the owner if very kind and welcoming and taught me a lot about kosher meat. They have soft steak here which I like.

Lunch special today spicy chicken. Omg I even ordered some to take to my husband.

My favorite to go spot. I eat there at least 2 a week when I'm in town. Food always delicious and amazing friendly service. My favorite are the skewers all of them Lolll. The hummus always fresh and pita warm from oven. The lemonana is a must specially when it's super hot outside. Don't hesitate to come in and try their lunch specials. I know some of you will be hesitant to go in just because it's a kosher restaurant but please do yourself a favor just go in and see how friendly they are.

This time around, I had their cauliflower, zucchini latkes, Chicken Shawarma, and cabbage salad. The cauliflower dish comes with 3 florets that have been coated and fried in a semi sweet sauce. I liked the crunch and sauce pairing. The cabbage salad was something I had ordered before. The cabbage is cut so finely...I felt healthy and refreshed from this dish. Unfortunately, the zucchini latkes were a miss for me. The actual latkes were really hard. It was kind of like eating a pita chip, and I didn't get much flavor. I know the latkes are paired with applesauce to match with the traditional latkes, but I think having a Tzakiki sauce would have enhanced the taste. The other two were a hit, though. I loved the chicken shawarma and appreciated that it was served with a pita and small side of hummus. This dish was addicting. I was getting full at this point, but couldn't stop eating. The chicken was so flavorful and moist. You don't need the hummus because it's already so packed with flavor, but it was a nice addition. Overall, I appreciate Motek's take on classic Mediterranean dishes. They have a solid range of tapas and large plates, and the ambiance is always very peaceful and intimate.

When I can go to JRK and get double the chicken for significantly less $. And not get anything stale.

We were sat inside near the bar/kitchen area. The restaurant overall had a very quaint vibe, close seating and bright vibrant decor. Yellow was a primary color through most of the decor. I really loved the tree aesthetic that looked like an old tree that was growing from the corners of the rooms up the wall and across the ceiling. I wasn't able to catch our server's name however they were very well knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. We decided to do several apps versus getting individual meals as this restaurants theme is to have shareable plates. So many dishes, got the French and Turkish oven pita. Both were good and had different highlights. Loved the gold scissors provided to cut strips for sharing. Classic hummus which had to have been the smoothest hummus I've ever had. Zucchini Latkes were one of my favorite along with the Cauliflower. The seasoning on this was amazing, a bit sweet, and crispy outside. Crispy artichoke I could have done without. It was kinda like eating rice paper, odd texture. Had to try the baklava for dessert along with the pistachio cheesecake and the vanilla, mango and Nutella gelato. Nutella was my favorite. I'd keep on the short list next time I'm in the area.

We arrived about 9pm on a Friday night and were seated immediately. It was a perfect April evening in So Flo. The decor is modern and trendy. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. We ordered our food and were told that the food comes out as its ready. So basically, don't expect order...lol. It worked out fine though, gratefully. We had the Humnus (tasty and fresh but a bit too creamy for two out of the three us at the tabel) with Laffa (served hot, it was yummy), Morrocan Cigars (yummy and good for at least two people), the Chicken Shawarma (which is dark meat and is seasoned perfectly) with grilled veggies (that tasted just a little bit too smoky), and the Harissa Honey Salmon with Greek Lemon Potatoes (they were super lemony but thats been par for the course at all of the Greek places I've ever been to). All of the food was well made and tasted delectable. We saw some delicious looking platters pass our table. The Crispy Chicken Shnitzel is on my radar for the next time I visit.

We tried the Chicken Shawarma Pita Pocket, and it clearly is better than any other sandwich option. The soft pita wraps around warm, creamy hummus (honestly one of the best in the city), pickled red cabbage, Mediterranean pickles, and that well-seasoned chicken shawarma. The mix of lemon tahini, mango aioli, a touch of spicy relish, caramelized plantains, and roasted red pepper sauce gives it a really layered flavor without feeling heavy. Everything works together, and nothing competes. We also had the Cilantro Falafel Bowl, which comes with a base of hummus and lemon cabbage salad. The falafel with lemon tahini is crispy on the outside and soft inside, and the bowl is packed with roasted cabbage, cherry tomatoes, English cucumbers, chickpeas, pickles, pickled red cabbage, and pita wedges. It's simple, very fresh, and filling in a clean way. One thing that stands out at Happeas is the personalized attention, you actually feel taken care of, and there's a good chance you'll meet the owner while you're there. The vibe is relaxed, not rushed, and they've thought about small details, like having a self-serve water machine with still and sparkling options, which is a nice touch. Overall, Happeas delivers honest, well-made food with flavors that feel intentional but not overdone. Great spot for a quick lunch that doesn't taste like a compromise.
