Shake Smart is my favorite place to go after the gym. They have all sorts of healthy options to choose from and I find that their nutrition fact information is defiantly worth keeping if you plan to come here a lot. Shakes/Food: I've almost had everything on the menu because I basically live at shake smart. But my to go items are the Rawcai Bowl (taste so good! Especially the acai when it's three scoops mixed in with the strawberry jam at the bottom) or he PB squared ( Peanut butter is my favorite snack when it comes to being healthy LOL so this one is def. a must try when you go. I also love the texture and the protein blended in). Service: I sometimes do the Secret Shopper and they always get good reviews from me because the service is great. I had a disappointing experience at this location. I placed my açaí bowl order through the self-service screen, carefully customizing my bowl and toppings -- especially asking for no coconut. When I received my order, it looked nothing like what I selected. I politely approached the worker at the window to explain the issue and clarify my modifications. Instead of offering help or even listening, she responded with a dismissive and snarky attitude, claiming there were no modifications made -- despite the fact that I had submitted and paid for them. Her tone was unnecessarily rude and made it clear she didn't care about the mistake or fixing it. I remained respectful throughout the interaction but ended up leaving with a bowl I didn't want and an overall negative experience. Mistakes happen, but the lack of customer service or accountability was really frustrating. I hope the management considers better training on professionalism and handling customer concerns respectfully. My first impression of this place was kind of ruined by the staff. The girl working was on her phone literally right in front of the order window (which, I have worked in her same position before and that is very unprofessional). She was drinking her can of soda and on her phone and I had to call her like three times for her to pay attention. And when she did finally hear me, I said "hi how are ya?" she said "yea hi what do you want" and was incredibly dismissive. The food was good. I' got the avocado toast so that was yummy. But when I thanked her for my food she ignored me and didn't say a word. I love this place. It's an outdoor grab and go smoothie, acai bowl store. While it is a little more expensive than other food and drink places at CSUN, it is very much worth it I usually get the organic super-shake which has vanilla protein, organic superfood and peanut butter. I also get the strawberry fields which has strawberries and vanilla protein. Both of these are really good and you can also substitute regular milk for soy or almond (if available). I like how you can now go to the iPads just outside and order your drinks there so you can have time to fully look through the menu and take your time deciding what to get before paying at the cashier window. I also love how they recently added a canopy since there was little to no shade and sometimes it was too hot to stand in line or wait for drinks. I ordered a cold brew shake ($4.50) with peanut butter and an original acai bowl ($6.50). The acai smoothie base itself was a bit watery and bland though not at all icy. By itself, it was pretty meh. The granola, seeds, and banana were the perfect amount on top though and they made the bowl more interesting. My friend got the P&B acai bowl. The smoothie base was much nicer tasting (peanut butter makes everything delicious), but it would be nice to have bananas on top rather than the chocolate chips. I enjoyed the cold brew shake a lot. Do note that it tastes much better with the peanut butter. My friend got it without the add-on, and it was a little more bitter and thin. My whole bill was $11.50. They have a decent menu of shakes coffees smoothies and some food like wraps and what not I ordered the Perfect 10 shake which came with banana, vanilla powder, almond milk(you get to choose low fat non fat almond or soy milk) blueberries peanut butter and I think that was it... It is pretty expensive, $5.75 for a regular but let me tell you, this is a good shake! I've only been here twice and both times I've ordered the "Breakfast to go" and it's amazing. The smoothies are the perfect consistency and refreshing. My smoothie is packed with fruit and surprisingly it's not overly sweet. Ordering is super easy and quick with a tablet outside the windows where you can surf through the menu depending on what you're looking for. That could be post workout, greens, natural energy, etc. When I went today after leaving the SRC I ordered a regular smoothie but one of the employees told me they made me a large because they had a lot left over. That really made my day! Unfortunately I didn't have cash on me to tip :(, and I was in a rush so I didn't catch his name but seriously thank you so much. Very stingy amount and definitely NOT worth it. This was my second time having rawcai after having loved it the first time. I told my coworkers to def try it, and that I'll put it next to ubatuba. Nah dude, after this I'm choosing ubatuba over shakesmart acai at all times. 1.5 small scoops for $7???? And such stingy toppings too?? There's hardly anything on that bowl. I substituted banana for dark chocolate and there's barely a few crumbles. Apart from that one time I got a smoothie and I asked a couple times if it has any diary or not, and if the protein contains diary products, the cashier said no every time. I'm very lactose intolerant, so I got the smoothie, drank it and halfway through guess what, my stomach got hella upset!! That was a huuge let down! Most possibly the protein contained diary. (Diary is the only thing I'm allergic to so I know)Your employees should know your menus very well and be very careful when it comes to allergic content like diary, nuts etc. So yeah, I'm very disappointed. I'm not coming back to a place that can't hold on to good service. One time you get great food in good amount, and next time they give you a half empty bowl. Smoothies: are on point, so delicious and the perfect consistency. Had a 'greens to go' and expected the ingredients to be more runny but it was just the right amount of thickness. I loved it. Wraps: I enjoy the wraps, the quantity is just right, I like how it's neatly packed up - the wrap itself and the container. They include a little thing of banana chips which is cool except unfortunately the chips are flavorless, I know it's all healthy stuff and I still eat them but honestly they taste like nothing. Veggie wrap tastes more like mustard than hummus, not sure why? Staff: seriously all so nice! Even when I'm being indecisive they'll help u figure out what u might like and make great suggestions. I LOVE this place! First off, the service is fantastic. Kayla, Reese, Quetzal, and the rest of the crew are always super welcoming. I usually go here first thing in the morning after a workout and before classes and it's all around a great start to my day. I usually get the organic super shake. It's blended perfectly and just the right balance of sweetness. Their Almond butter banana sammies are the perfect snack to tote around to munch on throughout my day. I'm glad they opened this when I first transferred to CSUN! It's a great go to place right after I hit up the SRC that's across from it, they really did pick a great location for this place!
