My mother and I decided to give this place a try last night since it seems popular. We had burgers, spicy fries and the dubai chocolate shake. The food was decent but nothing to really write home about. The shake however was really not good. For $10 each shake, I was expecting some delicious chocolate and pistachio flavors but instead it tasted like thick milk. An extremely bland milky flavor with shredded pastry crisps and pistachio on top. No chocolate flavor whatsoever. This is a place that has "Shake" in their name so I'd expect the shakes to be the best part of the experience but it was actually the worst. If I come back for another burger, I'll get it with a lemonade or some fruity drink next time but with as dissatisfied I was with that shake, I won't get another shake here again. read more

Review: Very disappointing experience I ordered the Big ShackBurger with special sauce, which is the three-bun burger and costs around $13, along with a gluten-free burger and loaded fries with all the toppings and sauces. When my order arrived, the gluten-free burger and regular burger were stacked directly on top of each other, creating a serious cross-contamination issue. My order was also completely wrong--the burger had toppings I didn't ask for, and the loaded fries were basically disassembled, so I had to put them together myself. When they remade my burger, I specifically expected the Big ShackBurger that I originally paid more for, but instead I was given a regular cheeseburger. Overall, the order was incorrect multiple times, the food was poorly put together, and the gluten-free burger being placed directly against the regular burger was especially disappointing. After building up an appetite walking through the mall, I stopped into Shake Shack for a quick bite. They have ordering kiosks and staff at the counter so it makes the ordering line quick. Plenty of indoor and outdoor patio seating. I ordered the Shack Burger lettuce wrap as a double, west coast loaded fries and a drink on the side. Considering my burger didn't come with a bun, opted for lettuce wrap, it was still super filling as a double and the fries on the side. Everything was cooked and prepared well - the lettuce wrap got a bit messy with the burger juices dripping, but it was so delicious, just grab extra napkins. We went on Sunday late afternoon. We walked right up to the kiosk and ordered 1 single shake burger and a west coast chicken sandwich with fries, onion rings, a float and a shake. With tax was almost $50 for fast food. Just the sides and drinks were $25. The food came out fairly quick and the order was as placed. The fries were crinkle cut and crunchy and the onion rings were also very good. The sandwiches were hot and looked really good except for the bun, it was about the size of a baseball in diameter, almost like a slider with a 1/4 pound smash burger. So there was definitely more meat than bun. The burger was very good except for eating half of it without a bun. The drinks were really good but really overpriced. A good experience and good food but I will save my money because paying $50 for fast food for two seems really excessive. read more

The restaurant was lively and busy, but still well-organized. It felt welcoming despite the crowd. I placed a pickup order at the Tacoma location, and it was pretty busy when I arrived. I had to wait a little longer than expected, but the staff was kind and helpful. They checked on me and my order several times, which I really appreciated. Lots of people dining in as well as ordering online for pick up. Food was fresh and hot. Burgers are not huge, but good. Nice crust on the burger. Better flavor than some smash burgers in the area. Prices are a little high considering you order everything separately and portionside are on the small side. About 6 small onion rings for $6, for example. A for effort. We went shortly after the grand opening on a rainy Saturday. They still had a long line, and were churning out food as fast as they could. Therefore the burger was a bit smooshed and haphazardly put together, but tasted on par with other locations. Dare I say this location is actually faster in order-to-burger time than others! The highly anticipated Shake Shack at Tacoma Mall opened its doors on Nov. 12, 2025 and I couldnt be more excited. They offer both indoor and outdoor seats, and all the best of Shake Shack including app order and kiosk and in-person order and they are super fast and quality. My favorite here is their BLT, and Shack dog, and their shakes, which you cant go wrong with any flavor. And if you have not tried their regular "hamburger" (not ShackBurger but just their "hamburger" that comes with just the patties), try it because its simple and yummy, just good patty and bun! The restaurant is in their opening phase, so obviously they're very busy yet staff are so kind, customers are served timely. They keep busy with constantly cleaning tables and emptying trash and they also came by to ask me if my food is good and if I needed anything else. Pro Tip: If you place order "to-go," they package it up for you nicely so that you can still sit down and eat at restaurant if you choose to do that (theres a box inside the bag that you can use as a tray). One more thing: I did not notice any alcoholic bevvies at this location. Usually they have the ShakeShack house wines in cans but I did not see that offered at this location. I haven't been to Shake Shack in a couple of months so I dont know if theyre phasing it out or if its just not ready at this location yet. : ) This Shake Shack is located in outdoor type mall, "The Village," the newest part of the Tacoma Mall which is currently going through massive expansion phase. Next to Shake Shack, several new stores are coming including Dave's Hot Chicken and Gong Cha (omg!). Love Sac couch store is already open. There's plenty of parking and getting in and out of "The Village" was easy. Love it. Love the batter on the chicken, love the burgers, the chicken bites and oh yeah, get the Korean style. The lettuce wrap burger is great but I did feel it more lettuce than expected but hey, most places would just put the patty bare on a leaf and call it good. Here it's wrapped and has tomato (hold if you want) and their burger sauce and it comes wrapped. Sodas are the usual. App is a great savings tool and for weekday lunch. Was excited for the people who love this place since we got a location down south. Its located in the newer section on the Macy's side of the mall, but across from Kizuki Ramen. Parking is scarce though. Probably better off finding regular mall parking and walking over. There are a few benches outside for outdoor seating as well as some tables inside. The food was just okay, felt like the other locations food was better. Service was questionable. But the main reason for my 1 star review is that my ma went to order the food, and paid. But come to find out that the employee themselves added tip! And was refusing to give my ma a receipt. What a crazy experience for being her first Shake Shake experience. Super disappointed for an employee to try a trick like this. This is fraud you know. So be aware and look at your recipts so you're not taken advantage of. read more

I like that Shake Shack made it all the way down to Tacoma, but it was very chaotic trying to order. I didn't know where the lines were to order at the kiosk and while waiting in line behind other people, there were people coming from a different direction that cut ahead and ordered at the kiosk. I also didnt realize that you could order at the front counter too. It seemed the staff were also very disorganized and confused. I ordered a side of fries, double shack, and smoke shack. When we finally got our food and left, the first think I always do is try the fries. We literally left not even a minute and the fries were cold. When we got home which took about 10 minutes, the burgers were also cold. It doesnt make sense for the food to be cold that fast. We're a fan of Shake Shack, but have only been to Nevada locations in the past. So we're thrilled to have one nearby. Burgers were overcooked and lacking flavor, would not order French onion shroom again. Major disappointment on that French onion one. Chicken shack was great! The lady Shelly delivering orders in the dining area was extremely kind and told me not to worry that they would get it straightened out. She also told me a better option for that shake would be a "black & white" which is half chocolate half vanilla she said she didn't care for the chocolate herself as it was also too chocolatey for her. She was really going above and beyond and the only one that appeared to be working the dining room during an extremely busy time. I know they just opened and were busy. Just didn't appreciate the gal behind the counter's remarks and I think she was in leadership position. They did end up replacing it. I chose strawberry and it was really good. I placed an order on the official Shake Shack site and realized immediately afterward that I had accidentally entered the wrong address. We tried to fix it right away, but the entire system is set up to fail: Zero Website Options: There is absolutely no way to cancel or modify an order on their site once it's placed. Clueless Customer Support: The first online support rep told us to cancel on the website (impossible). The second rep took our correct info, made us think he was fixing it, and then said he couldn't help because he didn't even know how to navigate his own company's website. He told us to call the store. Broken Store Lines: We called the location directly, got transferred to the manager's line, and it went straight to a voicemail box that was completely full. If you are going to run a direct ordering site instead of using third-party apps, your support team needs to actually know how your system works. The ONLY reason this isn't a zero-star review is because of our delivery driver. He was an absolute lifesaver, stayed in communication with us, and manually corrected everything so we actually got our food. The customer service at this place was absolutely terrible, especially the lady at the counter. I ordered burgers with a beer, but they didn't give me the right beer without informing me first. Came here for the second time tonight. We walked in the door and there were people waiting to get their orders but not a single person was in line to order. As we approached the order kiosks, the employee at the front counter said "just so you know, there is a 40 minute wait". I replied, "really, 40 minutes" and she confirmed that was correct. They had at least 6 people working in the kitchen and 4 up front. I have no idea how they could be that unproductive. We left and will not be back.
