Shake Shack has opened up in the Prasada North shopping area near Costco and Target in Surprise, Arizona. I have never tried Shake Shack before and decided to go through the drive-through for a quick lunch on the way home from errands. I ordered: - ShackBurger - pretty decent burger with double patty that tasted charbroiled, double American cheese, sliced tomato, curly lettuce, and shake sauce - Fries - these are crinkle cut fries in a cardboard covered container. I would've liked them except that the grease used tasted old and it threw off the flavor. - I tried to order a banana pudding shake, but they said they were all out. My drive-through server asked if I would like sauce, and I asked what they had to offer. He named a ranch, honey mustard, shack sauce, mayo, ketchup, mustard. I asked him if I could try a ranch, a honey, mustard, and a shack sauce. All three were in my bag when I got home. I enjoyed trying each. Ranch and honey mustard are still my favorite. I've been to a few different shake shacks including those back in the city (New York) or even Denver's locations and this one was abnormally warm inside, the floor had trash and food on it like no one has swept or even cleaned (they did towards the end of our meal start at least wiping down things, they weren't busy on arrival or when we left) Couple interactions I did have with the staff weren't good and they were helpful. I did however see at least 5 people get their mobile and drive thru orders re fired due to issues with the order so definitely cause for concern. First impressions: I've never been to shake shack. You place your order on a tablet by the entrance. There isn't any way to check ingredients for the shack sauce. We asked an employee if it contained dairy. They said yes because it contains mayonnaise and mayonnaise has eggs. (Eggs are not a dairy product) They charge a premium for their burgers. I can understand this considering some of the toppings they have to choose from but I wouldn't say the ground beef is any better than five guys but it is a little better than in and out. Is it worth the price? Not really. The price of their food and lack of service will keep me from ever going back. Issues I had: You place your own order. No employee greeting or help with ordering. When you are finished with your order they automatically opt you in for a 10% tip. WTAF!!!! A tip for who? I haven't interacted with a single employee yet. At this point I'm the employee. We took a number and sat at a table we had to wipe clean ourselves with wipes available by the trash cans. Our order number was never announced or brought to our table. It sat at the door dash/to go shelf dying as people came and went. I went over and grabbed it after realizing it was in fact ours. The burger patty was similar in size as in and out and the fries were average. We got an order of plain fries and bacon cheese fries. They were just meh. The shack sauce is bland, the cheese sauce thick and congealed. They are overpriced for what they are. I got the mushroom burger. The cheese in the fried mushroom was a bit too much. Very thick and overpowering. Final thoughts: I honestly don't get the hype at all. It's definitely not a price conscious family friendly place and I have no desire to return. It's not as clean as In and Out and the service nonexistent. Our go to burger place as a family is In and Out. In and Out is considerably more affordable and the customer service top notch. The automatic opt in for a 10% tip when you have to do everything yourself besides cook and assemble the food is offensive. The audacity. There was also standing water in the kitchen area. This place is a mess! Full stop. Don't go. BUT if you want to be a Shake Shack employee during your lunch hour and pay them for the honor of allowing you to work for them. And tip them? Then by all means go. You can opt out of the tip. But the automatic opt in is ridiculous. If they aren't paying their employees the same or more than similar places considering their premium prices, this is just insulting to everyone involved. Shake Shack is expensive, but delicious. I decided to come try this new one out. I downloaded their app, and placed my order. I went with a Double Carolina BBQ Burger, an order of fries and a large Coke Zero. Free fries on Friday in the app, and $1.00 drinks in the app. That definitely helps when their burgers are $10+. I was out the door for $15.00. How was it? Double Carolina Burger- This thing was awesome! Right from the get go when I pulled it out of the bag and looked at it, I knew it would be great! 2 patties, 2 slices of pepperjack cheese, some bacon, some fried pickles and a nice tangy bbq sauce. It was absolutely delicious! One of the better fast food burgers I have ever had. Would definitely get again. I considered ordering another after I was done. That is rare for me, and also shows how great it was! Loved it! Fries- To my surprise, when I reached in my bag, I had 2 orders of fries. (Sorry to the person who didn't get any fries because yours were in my bag). Shake Shack fries are great! Perfectly cooked crinkle cut style and they salt them perfectly! Coke Zero- Its Coke Zero. So I had to try out what all the hype was about with Shake Shack and was surprised in several ways. So this location is brand new, clean and in a prime location. I do wish they had a bigger dinning area inside as the heat can get pretty high here in AZ. By the looks of it they were packed but the self serve order kiosks were easy to use and created a good flow for traffic. There are only 2 restrooms that are single use so that may pose an issue if there are several people needing to use it at the same time as the hallway is small and leads towards the kitchen. I am also surprised that a tip option is suggested at the kiosk prior to the order when the service we got was just a shuffle of the food tray from their counter to our table about 20ft away. It did take a little bit to get our order, I received a text that said our order was ready and a little over 5 minutes later they brought the food to our table. I went with my family so we had a nice spread from an original double shack burger, a double with bacon, a lettuce wrap and my daughter got some chicken bites. The thing that surprised me was the spicy cheese fries! They were good but if you can't take too much spice then I would not recommend them as the Cheyenne pepper is intense. The bbq sauce for the chicken bites was also very good for a fast food place. We of course had to get a few shakes and got an Oreo shake and a campfire shake which were delicious and a nice treat with the meal. The sauce that is in the burgers is a very nice touch as well. Somewhat of a thousand island type spread. Definitely different than other fast food chains that serve similar type burgers. So here is the nitty gritty. I think the food a slightly over priced for what it is. For the amount we ate vs paid, I believe I could get a similar meal that is just as good for about $40 less. That's not to say that the food is not good, it was delicious but again, I do not think the price point is right but that's my opinion. I know there are Shake Shack faithful out there and understand that maybe the taste is worth it to them or perhaps the nostalgia of the place is worth it. The shakes (chocolate, Oreo and Funnel cake, and strawberry) were all good. The fries were a mix of crunchy and soft. The spicy fries were underwhelming as it's just straight paprika and cayenne. Heard from people at work they have the best burgers so we thought we would check it out. Mistake was going at 5pm. Went inside because the drive thru was crazy busy. Inside was super crazy too. Took it to go because it was so loud inside. Must have been 25 people working so hopes were high that it wouldn't take long. Honestly for as busy as they were a 20 minute wait wasn't bad. I was not impressed with the food. Husband got a bacon cheeseburger and he said it was a solid 7 out of 10 but 11.00 for burger that basically comes plain is outrageous. Plain hot dog for 7.50. Disappointing for sure. The bun was doughy and the hot dog was just ok. Crinkle cut fries are my favorite and these were ok but can easily be made at home in my fryer. This place is terrible. We came here on a Monday night at 7:00pm. There was a decent amount of people inside and at the drive thru. The food tasted fine, but the wait time was ridiculous. They have no employees at the front, two of the kiosks were broken, and we waited 30 minutes to get "fast" food. Ridiculous. Also, this place costs as much as a sit down restaurant with worse food. It was right around noon on a Tuesday. I had gone to In-N-Out Burger first, but the drive-thru was completely full with two lanes, and I didn't really want to wait, so I moved on. Now that the road between Cactus and Waddle is open, I headed over to Waddle. I remembered I had wanted to try Shake Shack Surprise, and to my amazement, there wasn't one car in the drive-thru. I thought to myself, "That's not a good sign," but I pushed on. During my first visit, the person helping to take the order needed more experience. I was asked a question, and after providing an answer, it felt like ten more questions before finally finishing the order process. I ordered one double cheeseburger with avocado and bacon, without the sauce. The meal package comes with a drink and fries. The total was $23.00, which is a little bit pricey! In-N-Out is half that price. I will say the burger and fries were good, and I will probably return in the future, but it's not going to be in my regular rotation for lunch; it's just too expensive. However, I might give it another shot once in a while. This location is new, so everything was clean and in good condition. If you look at the picture, you'll see that a quarter of the bottom bun is missing. I hope that's not a normal thing. It's not a huge problem, but it indicates that if the quality of the product is not important, you might wonder what else is just okay. I went through the drive through and ordered a SHACK BURGER single patty not double, and bacon cheeseburger combo. When we finally received our food, the BURGER that I ordered was just a single patty. Literally a piece of meat in a box. The bacon burger was cold. I immediately parked my vehicle and went inside. When I brought the order to the counter for rectification, the employee at the counter decided to call the manager instead of just fixing the issue. The manager took another 5 minutes to come over. When the manager finally showed up, she said she would fix the order. She took the food and returned 15 minutes later with another bag of BS. -_- this time the shack burger was just a bun and a patty with no toppings because she said she thought I said a plain burger. Why would I drive all the to way to shake shack to order a $10 patty of meat? Or pay that much for a plain burger? Do people really do this? Insane. I told the manager that the order was in fact incorrect yet again, and she said she even threw in some free fries this time. As if after waiting this long I cared about fries. If my son didn't want Shake Shack for his Friday night, we would have left expeditiously. I've had bad service before, but this one is up there as being one of the worst. Places like this hire young teenagers because they don't have to pay them much and they don't treat them well. Consequently, the employees never care. My husband and I visited this location tonight for the first time since last summer; we usually use the drive thru but this time we went inside. We were instantly greeted and helped at the front register; we had come for the new Korean style menu items and saw that the only things from it on the kiosk were the shakes but everyone was happy to accommodate that we wanted one of the burgers as well. You have to place order at kiosk cuz everyone is hiding in the back. When ordering you it says grab a table number, the thing is they don't have any out. I just gave #1. Everyone that came in after us looked around for numbers then asked us what we did, so they gave #2 & #3. Apparently they are so weak from working they could barely get the burger on the bun and couldn't be bothered with putting the peppermint sprinkles on the shake. Pretty sad service. Yes, but what isn't nowadays for a quality burger that is decent size and not frozen? To save a bunch of money, get their app and use it! They regularly have promos. All of the poor reviews are accurate. I am surprised that the company leadership continues to allow this brand new location to flounder amidst some of the worst reviews. We gave this location a try a couple of weeks ago. Consistent with all of the other reviews, we waited 35 minutes to get our food and it was cold. The fries clearly had sat for an extended period of time. Not to mention, they are advertising 3 speciality shakes and they were out of two of them. The restaurant was dirty. And we observed several customers also frustrated at lack of care and delays. One customer ended up walking out. They call you by name but the cashier wasn't taking names so employees just roamed around asking whose food it was. Today, we thought we'd give it another try. Bad idea. The drive thru moved at a glacial pace. They are advertising a summer BBQ menu with different types of bbq sandwiches BUT alas, they were out of BBQ sauce or as they mentioned "bbq flavor." The fries were soggy and the food cold. They were also out of one of the shakes. How this place continues to operate this way is beyond me. Walked in and every table was full with a lot of people standing around. Only 2 tables had food. Everyone else was waiting for the food with a number in hand. Not looking happy. We are still waiting g for our food and it's been 30 mins in the dinning room. Music is way too loud inside. Employees have to drive or hassle much less a personality. Customer service is awful. I only left one star because I didn't have a choice . My husband and I have been wanting to try since they first opened. When you offered the buy one Korean style burger get one free we thought it was the perfect time. My husband ordered a double K burger and I ordered the chicken k sandwich. When we got home much to my Surprise, the chicken sandwich literally had a teaspoon of kimchi on it and the same on my husband's double burger. The chicken sandwich which in the picture on your app appears to be a nice chicken breast, mine however the piece of chicken was literally a half an inch thick and then there was another piece on there That was all breading no chicken at all in it. So not only do we get shorted on the kimchi on both sandwiches. It wasn't actually a chicken breast. It was all breading with a half inch thick piece of chicken on half of the sandwich. Luckily, I had my own homemade pickled red onions and crunchy garlic chili oil, adding those two things to the sandwich made it taste OK. I'm guessing there was some sort of shortage on kimchi this week for the lack of it on both of our sandwiches. I have added a few photos for comparison. The first two pictures are what I got and the third picture is what shake shack offered. Needless to say $15 for a double burger is ridiculously overpriced for the quality that we received and WE WILL NEVER GO BACK. I like Shake Shack so I thought I'd give this location a try. This is a "budget" location, meaning no counter service, no fountain drink station, little seating. I mean they had two kiosks where employees could take your order, but they weren't manned at 12:00 PM on a Saturday. Went to a kiosk to order. Total for a burger, coke, and fries came to just under $22. Cleared my order and left. I'm not paying that much for 0 service. So many other options in the same parking lot with friendly service and dining area with some sign of life for more reasonable prices. read more

Just opened near the house; met family there. Wife had never tried them. We each got a shake burger, fries, a water and a coke. $41 (tip added automatically. Big red flag). Food took forever, tables and floors were dirty, burgers incredibly greasy, bottom of both buns soggy. I got the cheese fries (out of fried pickles), which were also soggy and not hot. Coke was good and free refills but overall, no thanks, won't be going back. Hype not backed up. Didn't even bother with pics Update: I emailed Shake Shack as requested by the owner and was ghosted.
