If you already like them this is the place to get them on Kaua'i! The sabich sandwich was my favorite meal on Kauai! This tiny food truck is a must try (especially if you are a vegetarian)! They also gave me a sample of the falafel and it was equally tasty. Their pita bread is some of the best I've ever tried and when I asked for my sandwich to be spicy, they delivered! Very friendly service as well!

For what this is, a food truck, it is fantastic. The falafel is some of the best I've had (I used to work in a Lebanese deli making falafel, so my standards are high). You can get sandwiches or platters. After trying a free sample, we were hooked. We got the chicken sandwich with falafel. I thought the falafels would be inside, but they were on the side. No problem. We just added them. It was a huge sandwich, next time I'd get the falafel alone. And they have very good mint lemonade.

They also have some merchandise for sale.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with my order. The hummus was runny, the salad, pickles and rice were okay, but the chicken was bland, dry and kind of burned. I didn't really feel like there was much chicken either. Everything had a sort of yellow hue to it so I think they use a lot of turmeric as well. But overall, I was disappointed. If you try this place, stick with the falafel. I should have.

The falafel was perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside -- exactly how it should be. The hummus was smooth and rich, the veggies were super fresh, and the portions were generous. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the food came out quickly even though the place was busy. You can really tell they care about quality.

After we finished our bike ride up the beach, we dropped our bikes off at the bike shop. Right next door is the Shakalafel food truck. The guy in the truck beckoned us with free sample of the falafel balls and we were hooked. I had the chicken shawarma plate with falafel. It was all amazing. Chicken was full of flavor. Hummus was delicious and the fluffy pita was just terrific. Next time we are back, we will definitely be enjoying more deliciousness.

The food was so refreshing and delicious. It came out quick too! The guy working was so nice as well. Easy to park close and the seating was great too.

I feel like I have to qualify this review with a disclaimer about where I come from. Being a native of Detroit, I have access to some of the best middle eastern food in the world. Dearborn, Michigan is an epicenter of middle eastern cuisine. If you would have told me that I'd find a food truck in Kauai offering shawarma and hummus that rivals the best I get at home, I wouldn't have believed you. Well, this place delivers the goods. The shawarma was fantastic, salad fresh and crisp, falafel wonderful and moist. The hummus though was the star of the show, smooth, creamy and delicious. What a great meal! read more

After not finding that many great vegetarian/vegan options in Kauai beside awesome Acai bowls we loved the falafel wraps here. Service was quick, we called them ahead of time and picked up the food in about 15 minutes. Falafel was nice and crispy and there was great spices and we asked for them to make it spicy and they delivered. We were pretty happy with the food here :) read more

We walked by this EXCELLENT food truck without knowing anything about it. The guy in the truck was very welcoming and gave us a taste of falafels for free. They tasted great. Falafel is one of those things that you either love or simply don't. This place executes it well. Solid taste profile, fresh veggie ingredients and little kick of spice. The falafel is perfectly crispy and light, and the falafel sandwich with their special sauce is just perfect. $3 for 3 falafels, you can't best this price! We ordered 6 falafels (I could have eaten more) and a chicken shawarma pita sandwich, which I didn't like because it came with too much shredded cabbage. Best falafel I have ever tasted, perfectly cooked with crispy outside, soft fluffy inside, and just the right amount of seasoning. Chicken schwarma was amazing, perfectly cooked and seasoned as well! The hummus was not my favorite though, and the pita bread was too fluffy for my taste. read more

Tasty, authentic Israeli food. The falafel tasted just like it does on the streets of Tel Aviv. The chicken shawarma was seasoned perfectly and tasted delicious. My son, who's allergic to sesame, was able to safely eat the chicken, salad, and pita. Wait was quite long at 7:30pm (an hour for 2 entrees), but worth it in the end. read more

I thought, "How can a falafel food truck on Kauai compete with my favorite Lebanese restaurant on Santa Monica Blvd? Or that lovely place in Temecuala? After Patty atr her Leong's poke bowl, we headed to Shakalafel. What sets then apart is the remarkable pita bread! Plus, the falafels were cooked to perfection...not greasy at all! That's the last nice thing I have to say. The latte comes from a second window, where a different employee was actively hostile. Busy morning, so I asked if the drink was mine. She snapped that my name was written on the cup. It was -- facing her. I was apparently supposed to read it through the cup. Here's the real problem: someone clearly put thought into the roasting side of this business, and then handed the entire customer-facing operation to people who received no training whatsoever. Not in the coffee, not in basic hospitality. You can teach someone to smile. You can teach them to answer a question without contempt. Nobody bothered. Average coffee, worse service, priced for people who won't be back anyway -- and given the volume of visitors, that model probably works fine for them. It won't work for me. Kauai has cafés run by people who are genuinely obsessed with what they're doing. Go find one of those. Serious coffee drinkers should walk right past this place.

Very rude employees. One employee went so far as to chase us down to our car after we had left... all because we informed them that we would leave an honest review about our experience. He left and then came right back to our car 30 seconds later and started taking pictures of our car and threatening to call the police on us. Again, all because they knew we were going to leave an honest review about their treatment of customers. The experience was definitely one of the strangest in my life. I'm not sure why any business would allow their employee to do that. Unfortunately for this business, I do not respond well to petty threats to go to the police. Therefore, they get the rating they deserve, and hopefully the business owner can tell their employees not to allow something like this to happen again. Shameful and embarrassing. read more
