    Falafel sandwich

Okay yes it's a food truck but don't sell it short! A couple of the nicest guys you'll ever meet will welcome you with a free sample. If you've never had a falafel take the sample. If you already like them this is the place to get them on Kaua'i! [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have picnic tables and covered areas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Spray bottles of water to keep the birds away and generous portions.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place is amazing! You have a middle eastern food craving this place is it! The guys at this shop are so sweet and the food was amazing. We will be back!

The sabich sandwich was my favorite meal on Kauai! This tiny food truck is a must try (especially if you are a vegetarian)! They also gave me a sample of the falafel and it was equally tasty. Their pita bread is some of the best I've ever tried and when I asked for my sandwich to be spicy, they delivered! Very friendly service as well!

For what this is, a food truck, it is fantastic. The falafel is some of the best I've had (I used to work in a Lebanese deli making falafel, so my standards are high). You can get sandwiches or platters. After trying a free sample, we were hooked. We got the chicken sandwich with falafel. I thought the falafels would be inside, but they were on the side. No problem. We just added them. It was a huge sandwich, next time I'd get the falafel alone. And they have very good mint lemonade.

I had wanted to try this place based on the great reviews and it was literally right around the corner from where we were staying. They can be seen offering out samples of their falafel from the food truck window throughout the day. When we were passing by once I took them up on it and tried a falafel. It was amazing! For dinner one night, we decided to try this place. My oldest and I both got the chicken shawarma plate. She got extra salad because she didn't want hummus. I also got us a side of fries. Service was friendly and quick. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a couple of tables in the vicinity but it's mostly a grab and go spot. Cute little whiteboard to write on and tell them where you're from. They also have some merchandise for sale.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Unfortunately, I wasn't impressed with my order. The hummus was runny, the salad, pickles and rice were okay, but the chicken was bland, dry and kind of burned. I didn't really feel like there was much chicken either. Everything had a sort of yellow hue to it so I think they use a lot of turmeric as well. But overall, I was disappointed. If you try this place, stick with the falafel. I should have.

The falafel was perfectly crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside -- exactly how it should be. The hummus was smooth and rich, the veggies were super fresh, and the portions were generous. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the food came out quickly even though the place was busy. You can really tell they care about quality.

After we finished our bike ride up the beach, we dropped our bikes off at the bike shop. Right next door is the Shakalafel food truck. The guy in the truck beckoned us with free sample of the falafel balls and we were hooked. I had the chicken shawarma plate with falafel. It was all amazing. Chicken was full of flavor. Hummus was delicious and the fluffy pita was just terrific. Next time we are back, we will definitely be enjoying more deliciousness.

The food was so refreshing and delicious. It came out quick too! The guy working was so nice as well. Easy to park close and the seating was great too.

Bright colors, outdoor seating, and tropical inspiration added to the menu. Their coffee was SO GOOD. And the dishes we tried were delicious as well. The ambiance really makes this place great and this staff is well trained and great at their jobs. There was a line when we got there and a line when we left, so I would assume that's pretty typical. No xbloom pour-overs being served, so I settled for pre-made drip. The barista was friendly enough but couldn't tell me anything about the coffees on her own menu -- origin, roast, process, nothing. She recommended a mac nut latte for my partner, which felt less like a recommendation and more like the only thing she was sure of. The drip came out fast and hot. That's the last nice thing I have to say. The latte comes from a second window, where a different employee was actively hostile. Busy morning, so I asked if the drink was mine. She snapped that my name was written on the cup. It was -- facing her. I was apparently supposed to read it through the cup. Here's the real problem: someone clearly put thought into the roasting side of this business, and then handed the entire customer-facing operation to people who received no training whatsoever. Not in the coffee, not in basic hospitality. You can teach someone to smile. You can teach them to answer a question without contempt. Nobody bothered. Average coffee, worse service, priced for people who won't be back anyway -- and given the volume of visitors, that model probably works fine for them. It won't work for me. Kauai has cafés run by people who are genuinely obsessed with what they're doing. Go find one of those. Serious coffee drinkers should walk right past this place.

There are actually a few food trucks that are parked there daily or weekly with some nice covered picnic tables should you decide to enjoy your food outdoors on the spot. Who would've thought we'd have Egyptian food for the 1st time on Kauai! When we looked at the menu online, it seemed very similar to Greek cuisine with a lot of vegetarian/vegan options...right up our alley! What we ordered and recommend: * SimSim Bowl Koshary, a 7-layer dish with rice, pasta, lentil, onions, chickpeas, tomato, & garlic sauce * Falafel Wrap, made with fava beans & fresh greens (liked that the wrap was even served warm and lightly toasted) Both were so incredibly flavorful and delicious! === THE CUTEST. Funnest market we went to. Say hi to G and have lunch there on their front porch!…read more=== We had seen Warehouse 3540 in Lawai on our trips to West Kauai, and after stopping there (also a really great stop but that's another review) walked back to Lawai Market. Super glad we did! Lawai Market has tons of house-made baked goods, a kicking deli section, incredible bread, smoothies, local goods (mostly food kinds), interesting alcohol/spirits, just tons of fun stuff. Counter folks were super friendly, G was especially friendly and helpful, offering recommendations, helping us out, talking story with us, and making us feel at home. Specific thoughts: ++ House-made s'mores bar. Huge portion. Five of us shared one. Topped with toasted marshmallow, then fudge-y brownie, then this incredible crust which seemed like graham cracker shortbread - never had a crust like that. Almost impossible to cut through because it's so wonderfully thick. It literally stays on the knife you use to saw through it. But oh so good. Each bite lasts a long time as you make your way through the layers. + They had more than a dozen other pastries, again, all house-made fresh every day. G says the tres leches cake (beautiful and floating in the cream mixture) and the brownie parfaits are crowd favs. ++ Curried chicken salad. Supreme comfort food but with strong flavors of curry (they don't mess around), raisins, and all sorts of other textures. FILLING - our group of five couldn't eat more than half of the small container and we loved it. ++ Egg salad. Punchier than most egg salads with lots of strong dill. Tended to like the chicken salad more but dug into this when I needed a break from the curry. + Spicy poke. Good and fresh. Personally like the spicy poke from The Musubi Truck better, but this was still solid. Always love the creaminess if the aioli. + Purple power smoothie. You can tell there's something healthy in there - not like your normal straight up sweet smoothie. (I think it's kale.) But this really grew on me. ++ Focaccia. Oh man. Salt crystals on top, great texture to the bread. Our group are bread connoisseurs and they loved this. We went back for a second loaf because we devoured the first one. ++ They have small sizes of everything in their deli which makes getting a selection of a bunch of things for your group easy. We literally sat out there and walked back into the store three or four times to browse and get more items. And walked out with more and more each time. Sitting on their front porch is great too. Yes, the main road goes right by there but lush trees and Kauai greenery abounds on the other side of the road which makes the whole space awesome to hang in. Make this stop - you won't regret it.
