Super casual bar that is tinier than I expected. They seat probably only 10-15 people with a coupe extra stools on the sidewalk. It seems to be the spot to grab a drink before a game or show at Barclays since it's so close. I ordered the Passionfruit Pina Colada ($14) and my friend had the Flower Child ($8). I love how aesthetic the cocktail was presented in a metal goblet to keep the slushy chilled. The way it was served almost reminded me of sorbet ice cream, which made this very fun. The cocktail tasted like juice and was refreshing to sip on. When the space cleared out, the bartender even brought water over for us, which was nice. read more

If you're in Brooklyn, and you're a daily commuter I would highly recommend stopping by and supporting your local businesses. Shaka Shaka tiki is not your ordinary Starbucks. Instead you come across this very little tiki joint which offers cocktails, and even a light beer just so you can unwind after a long day of work or just need an escape. I would recommend sitting down in their little cafe where no one would bother you or disturb you. Have yourself Maple latte and a shot of gin, relax yourself and enjoy the ambiance. I loved my frozen piña colada with passion fruit, which arrived looking and tasting like a lightly boozy dessert. Delightful. My friend enjoyed her Chili Lili with cachaca, passion fruit, and togarashi. They also have a couple of booze-free drinks for the alcohol-adverse (me on most days). The P.O.P. with passion fruit, orange, and pineapple juice... yes please. It's a pretty small, chill spot. There weren't a ton of people when we went on a Thursday evening, so the limited seating wasn't really an issue, but just know that it's small. Grabbed an outdoor table at this Tiki bar during the peak of the Delta variant wave in NY when many bars closed their indoor spaces. Though we felt like we were competing for sidewalk space with the heavily foot trafficked block we were on, the cocktails were good enough to whisk us and our taste buds away to greener pastures. In particular I really enjoyed the sweet potato cocktail with ube. Unlike many other ube cocktother ube cocktails I've had, this had true ube flavor, complete with a deep purple hue and salt rim that contrasted nicely with the marshmallowy flavor. My favorite of the house cocktails was Chili Lili (cachaca, passionfruit, seven spice togarashi, lime, orange bitters)! Shaka Shaka Tiki is what Companion Cafe turns into after dark. It's run by Gary from Hawaii, and it's a pretty cool concept. Makes sense to turn a coffee shop into a bar at night. I wonder why everyone doesn't do it? The space used to be Bergen Dean Sandwich Shop (located across the street from the exterior of the Brooklyn Nine-Nine precinct. Not the largest space, but they have bar seating, and two tables. They have a daily juice special that they squeeze fresh. When we went, it was Granny Smith apple, kale, and ginger beer with gin as the mixer. It was SO GOOD. And also makes you feel like you're being healthy instead of a drunkard. Win/win! Just the same, the drinks were excellent and the staff extremely friendly. As it was surprisingly busy for a cold day, they brought out an additional table and chairs for us. Our socially-distanced fellow patrons were convivial and the bar seems to draw a pleasantly diverse crowd. Not just soul, but electro, Bowie, etc. It's a rich sound but you can still hear your friend and no tinnitus the next day. People were swaying a bit with their drinks, a little dancing-lite.
