Shaka Plumbing may claim to be a 24/7 plumbing service but, in my experience, they are not. Our plumbing was backing up into our house. Google helped us to figure out that we should release the main drain at the outside of the home, which is brand new construction btw. Once we released the drain, all the sewage in the house drained out (It was gross; use your imagination here). Our builder even came out to investigate if his plumber was the cause. Nope. Turns out it's the main sewer line and only a professional with an auger will do. It's 7 o'clock on a Sunday, regular sh*t floating in .... and Shaka's 24 HOUR claim just aint so. Sadly, they're in good company as NONE of the 24 hour plumbers seem to work on Sunday evenings. Shaka DID call back and said that he would TRY to find "one of his guys" who could help us. I began using their services back in early 2000s when they were formally known as Alpha Omega Plumbing. I never had a problem with them getting the job done or feeling overcharged when I needed work done for checking and replacing hosing and fixtures for my bathroom and kitchen sinks, or laundry appliances. I used their services several times when I lived in a condo since 2003 and then upon my move to a townhouse in 2012. In August 2019, I had a leak occur from my upstairs bathroom causing my ceiling of my downstairs bathroom to bubble and sag. I was on a limited time frame as I was to leave on a trip in 10 days and needed my family to have peace of mind while I was gone. I called a few plumbing companies to get estimates, however, I either did not get in contact with someone directly, or was told that there was a cost to the assessment, which would go toward the repairs if so needed. I hesitantly scheduled with them for their soonest availability, which was two days later. Shaka Plumbing (Niel) responded to my message quite quickly, stated no charge for assessment, and could come that afternoon. Chris arrived promptly. He was friendly, efficient about the assessment, and seemed honest in his recommendations and suggestions. He took the time to explain the general and common issues of the waste and overflow piping and gaskets that may have caused my leaks and bubbling, and the repair options. He was patient with my many questions, was very accommodating to my schedule; and best of all, able to come the next day at my convenience to do the job. Chris worked efficiently, and was also able to coordinate a freelancer to close up the work area on the bathroom ceiling right after he was done with the pipes. He finished the job within the time frame he estimated with no fuss. He was polite and friendly, and even showed me the basis of the project and the guts of all the plumbing (and everything else that was living in the drain...YUCK!!) that he took out. In addition, Chris was willing to help me purchase supplies and come back on another day that my schedule would allow, to help me with caulking the tub to further minimize water leaking to the ceiling. Neil and his crew were great! We had a one off request of installing a new gas range top. Highly recommend, for the rest of the peeps on Oahu a new top of the line gas range top is 66% cheaper than a new electric range top. After installation cost it was still 33% cheaper. Neil did a great job with the installation and the work is clean and cherry. The end result will be 30$ less a month in electric bill and better quality cooking with gas. I never actually used Shaka's services because their quote was double than other quotes. I gave 2 stars because they were responsive and I was going to use them based on that but when I got a quote for $300 to clear my main line and a possible additional $150 if I had no clean out, I had to get a second quote. I ended up using another company with just as great service and only ended up spending $175 and I didn't have a cleanout. read more

Called one week ago regarding a clogged sink. I never received a call back. I tried to use drano but that only was a band aid. The issue came back and this is my sink where the central AC condensate drain empties into near the P trap. It backed up my AC unit which tripped off and wouldn't turn back on. At first I scheduled an appointment and the plumber didn't show up or call to say he couldn't make it. However, when I called back today the gentleman that answered the phone was very polite and he apologized for yesterday's mishap. The plumber that came to my houses name is Neil and Neil not only did a great job but he was a nice guy too. He even had the courtesy to remove his boots before coming into the house. When Neil was finished he apologized again for the no call no show and he told me that he would charge me for only part of the work he did today. I would absolutely without a doubt call Shaka plumbing again if I have plumbing problems. The only reason I would give more than a one star rating is because they act professional and show up on time. However, they advertise 24/7 service but did not answer on a Sunday when my water pipe broke. I did a self repair but wanted a plumber to redo my work for insurance purposes. They quoted me 460$ to replace three feet of pipe and to raise a shower head ten inches. The tech said it was so expensive because they do not replace cpvc and the copper is expensive. Well, an eight foot section is only 14.97 and all the materials to cut, couple, and sweat the shower pipe don't even come to 50 dollars. I asked the tech to call his boss to try and get a reasonable price, he wouldn't do it in front of me, instead he walked outside and came back saying his boss actually said it should be 480$, which made me lose trust in the character of the business I was hoping to work with. I was looking forward to feeling confident in Shakas work based on their great reviews and thought I would feel confident my house wasn't going to flood, instead I feel like I was a profit target because I am a young homeowner in a mildly desperate situation. Horrible service! Terrible follow up. I found this "service" online. Made contact with a dispatcher (Elizabeth); she told me to take pictures of the problem and email them in so they could get a quote to me. I received no response by email, even after I sent a second email. I did get an appointment 2 days later because they were busy. On the day of the appointment, they called me a hour past the appointment time to tell me they were going to be late. When I told the dispatcher they were already an hour late, she had no response. Don't use this service, they obviously think their time is more valuable than the customers. read more

Down right the most honest, kindest, professional service I've ever received!!! While my husband was out of town my main water valve to my home and water was leaking down the road. Shaka plumbing face timed me to help get the leak to slow down. I was still leaking pretty bad so they came and got it to slowdown until they could fix it on Monday. That's not even the best part, I initially started calling plumbers on yelp....Do It Right Plumbing told me it was going to cost me $5,000 and not to call other plumbers because they would just over charge me. I text them pictures and was like it's just a valve leaking, but they said it was still a $5K job. Let's just say Shaka didnt not even charged me $1K....actually it was under $500, and they came out on the weekend and Monday morning. I'm so thankful for honest people still in this wold. My toilet works again! Yay! Got quoted $120 on the phone but got charged $130 plus tax. When the plumber came out of his vehicle, he was holding a tablet and I was confused with what he wanted to do because he didn't have any tools on him. I don't remember if he introduced himself either. Anyway, he started following me to my door and so I asked him if he wanted to see my clogged toilet.. He told me, "Oh is that what it is? How much did they quote you?" I told him $120. So he went to grab his tools and he came inside and I showed him where my bathroom was. He took probably 15 minutes to fix my toilet which was great. Afterwards, I followed him to his car so he wouldn't have to come back upstairs for the payment. He told me the total was $136 and for some reason I thought the extra cost was tax so I signed it without question. I checked my receipt later and sure enough I was charged $130. I think something as simple as a clogged toilet should have the same price all around. What's the basis for charging one person $10 more than the other? Anyway, I gave the plumber bottled water and $150 and told him to keep the rest but I didn't feel like he appreciated the gesture at all. He said thank you and proceeded to put his tablet away and I kinda just looked at him thinking, "Ok bye?" Lolllllll. It was kind of awkward so I just turned around and went back inside. He got the job done though and I'm super thankful for him coming on the same day I called so three stars for that. read more

Not sure how they got such high ratings but I used them and would have to say they were pretty horrible. Had water heater issues and they changed parts and replaced with cheaper parts, finally Neal rewired my electrical (that's when I knew we were in trouble) if I needed a licensed electrician would of got one. Over a period of two weeks Neal would come in at 5-10 minute increments and do (4 x) little things and leave. Nothing seemed to resolve the issue, finally showed him a leak in the copper pipe which he wanted to charge an additional $400 on top of the $250 he already charged. Dont want to run him in the ground because he is trying to make a living but if its more than 5-10 minutes, RUN! read more
