I had the fried oysters and my wife the 6 piece shrimp. Both were delicious! Very fresh. The device was great. We'll be back.

Let me first start by saying that I found their restaurant on yelp last October and they were in…read morethe process of opening but I'm sure with covid-19, this probably slowed the process of them opening. Last week, I saw that they were having their grand opening today so I was excited to come out and give them a try. There was about a dozen or so people in line prior to their opening. When I walked inside the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the Blues music in the background. The guy in front of me gave us all a free concert because he knew every song. LOL They have a walk up counter for online orders or you can go to your right for take out. They are not open for dine in yet so please keep that in mind. Also, masks have to be worn by customers so don't forget yours at home or the car. Now onto the food, I ordered a fried pork chop dinner which comes with two pork chops, mac and cheese, green beans and cornbread. For anyone that does not like cornbread, you also have the choice of a dinner roll. All dinners come with your choice of two sides. I thought that was it for me until I saw the pound cake so you know I had to grab a slice. I paid for my food and then left. I love that they cook their green beans with small chunks of potatoes and pieces of bacon. The mac and cheese looks nothing like the picture advertised. It's not baked mac and cheese at all. Maybe they are trying to save on the cost but when I think of macaroni and cheese, I think of real shredded cheese baked over cheesy macaroni. The cornbread is ok but smaller than your average cornbread muffin. Now onto the cake. Oh my goodness. This is the best slice of pound cake that I have had in Dallas. The cake is very moist and delicious. I have tried plenty of pound cakes and most places are dry with no flavor. I believe they are going to have different menu items everyday. They have just about every type of meat you can think of, Fried Catfish, Pork Steak with gravy, Pork Ribs, Fried Pork Chops, Spaghetti. UPDATE- I ate half of my pork chop and the rest of my meal. The next day, I was going to eat the rest of my pork chops but visually I didn't want it. I tossed the rest in the trash. I don't know if it's the quality of meat that they used but I seen black spots throughout the meat. I didn't really pay attention to how much my meal cost but when I checked my receipt, I paid $14.00 for my meal and $4.00 for the cake. This is very expensive for the portions they offer but I tried to overlook it since this is their grand opening. There are other soulfood restaurants in the area that offer huge portions for 2-3 days and everything is made from scratch. Hopefully, they will take this into consideration and make changes to their pricing and make all items from scratch. FYI- Check before you come if you are looking for a specific menu item. I will probably come back if I am in the area and have a taste for a slice of pound cake but I will pass on the food. They are about a 45 minute trip. Customer service is excellent.

The decor is very minimal, but one wall completely covered in customer signatures honestly adds a nice personal vibe to the place. Ordering happens at the register tucked into the back corner, so when there's a line it cuts right past some of the tables. Definitely close quarters while people are eating, but it somehow still fits the character of the place. The gentleman taking orders was friendly, just not overly talkative. The lady who brought our food out was very polite and welcoming though, which I appreciated. Overall, the service was okay. Our food took about 10-15 minutes to come out, which felt a little long considering it didn't appear very busy other than one larger party already seated when we arrived. To be fair, we couldn't see what was happening in the kitchen. The only real frustrating part was waiting close to another 10 minutes for a to-go container after asking a few times. As for the food, I'd say it landed somewhere in the average range for Texas BBQ. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing really blew me away either. I ordered the loaded baked potato topped with brisket, link, two pork ribs, all the traditional baked potato toppings, and their spicy BBQ sauce. First off, the potato itself was fantastic. Huge, perfectly tender, and honestly exactly what a baked potato should be. The toppings were fresh and plentiful -- butter, cheese, sour cream, bacon pieces -- and it could have stood on its own as a solid meal even before adding the meats. The brisket was over chopped, which personally isn't my favorite style at a BBQ joint. I usually feel like finely chopped brisket loses some of the texture and full smoke flavor you get from sliced or a coarse chopped brisket cut to order. It stayed moist, but I really didn't pick up much smoke flavor from it. The link was unfortunately overcooked and dried out. The casing had tightened around the meat, and even sliced up it just didn't have much juice left in it. The ribs were probably the weakest part for me. They were on the smaller side, dry, and pretty tough with the meat cooked down close to the bone. Now with all of that said, the seasoning on the meats was excellent. Bold flavor across everything, and the spicy BBQ sauce was absolutely on point. I just wish the meats themselves had a little more life and moisture to match how good the seasoning tasted. Overall, everything felt pretty average to slightly below average for me, especially by Texas BBQ standards. On the positive side, the prices were actually very reasonable considering how expensive meat has become these days. I'd still come back again because I'd like to try some of the meats individually and let them stand on their own without being loaded onto a baked potato. There's definitely flavor here -- I just think the execution was a little inconsistent during this visit.

Gravy has made an inroad in the community primarily as a breakfast place and with good reviews, so we'll assume breakfast is good. Located in a nice strip center with lots of parking, Gravy is open until 2. Lunch is available and so 5 months ago we went for lunch since lunch is more our thing. We were given a sample of their raved about zucchini bread and it was delicious. Nice touch that. My husband ordered a Wedge salad and a Club sandwich. I ordered the Friday Fried Cod. I'll start with my fish. I used multiple layers of napkins to try and absorb the oil from my fried fish. It was not only greasy but dark brown and fried hard. It came with a paper medicine cup of Slaw and some Tater Tots for $16. I could have tried to send it back. Some days you just aren't up to it. My husband's $16 Paseo Club was an ordinary wheat bread sandwich with turkey, ham, cheddar, swiss and bacon with the obligatory extra piece of bread, lettuce and tomato. See photo below. $16! With a few slices of fried zucchini as the side. His Wedge salad was $4. And tasty, I was told. Service was friendly and helpful and the place was comfy. The lunch items ranged from not very good, though, to just plain expensive and forgettable. I am sure that breakfast must be their jam. Full menu available online. Check it out
