We were looking for a campground in the Tri-Cities TN area, and most places were full. We decided to stay at Shadrack Campground in Bristol TN, which is close to Bristol Motor Speedway. Reservations were easy to make, and the person we spoke with was friendly. But, we were concerned because the sites on the online campground map looked pretty tight. We arrived late in the evening, so the office was closed. There was an envelope waiting for us on the door with campground and campsite information. The campground itself was pretty small, and the campsites were stacked right on top of each other. Also, the numbering system for the sites was confusing, and we weren't sure which site we were supposed to be using. When we found our site, there was a truck parked on our campsite. The campground manager saw that we were struggling and came to help. Comments on the campground: - The campground office and store were nice, but their hours are pretty limited. - People were quiet and respectful of each other. - The bath house was about 200 yards away, but it was nice, had lots of room and was clean. - WiFi was weak and unstable - There was no fire ring or fire pit and none were available for rent. We ended up going to Walmart and buying one that weighs 10 pounds, and we can take it with us in the future if a campsite doesn't have one. - The campsite was short, but our 30 foot travel trailer fit, just barely. - Even though the sites are very small, the utilities were not in a convenient location. We had to use 2 water hoses to connect fresh water and 3 sewer hoses to connect to the sewer. That was a pain, and I had to go to Walmart to buy extra hoses to finish setting up. We stayed for 4 nights. Overall, it was an ok stay. The campsite was functional, the campground store was nice, and the bathhouse was clean and nice. However, because of the small campsites being stacked on top of each other and the inconvenient utility hookups, we will look for other campgrounds the next time. I give Shadrack Campground a 4/10 overall. read more

Great campground. Was there for approximately 7 months as we shopped for a house. We were in a class A. As it was off season there was lots of room between camping spots. We have camped here for the spring NASCAR race for 3 years, overall the campground is very nice and clean. Staff is amazing and the shuttle on Saturdays & Sunday's of race weekend is great, here are the drawbacks. 25-30 minute walk to track on days where a shuttle wasn't running A bunch of year round campers (residents) that have campers there. We were put on a site right next to a resident and it wasn't pretty, multiple junk all around camper, car sitting on site looking like a junkyard, dog on a chain barking during the day, leaving in early hours in morning for work waking us up. It kind of resembles a FEMA trailer park in some areas. FLOODING. 2017 we had to evacuate to higher ground, entire lower section of campground completely flooded out. Flood Zone - Campers Be Aware. We were sleeping at 2:30 a.m. and we were woken up by a lot of noise in the campground. Opened the door and realized that we were surrounded by knee deep water. The management of the campground was warned by the Sherriff's Office and the Fire Rescue Department that there was a possibility of flash flooding during the night. They did not notify any one of this information. There is not any electrical disconnects. How unnerving to stand in knee deep water and having to unplug 30 or 50 amp service. They have no respect for the campers and their equipment. It has been stated that we should have known. We were not from the area and had no idea. There were cars totally under water in certain areas. If they had warned people and given them the chance to leave, I would have given them a better rating, but I feel this is bad management. read more

A good spot for just passing through! Staff, a couple, was very helpful and friendly. They seemed like they were the owners. We appreciated them. Big sign on the road, new store, flat sites with good access. Yes there is a little hill at the entrance, but it was doable. I can see the comment about motorcycles being trick on that gravel hill. Camp Sites are along a beautiful small river. There was no tv. Apparently they are full during the car races which are at the speedway just up the road. We had perfect weather in the first week of April and stayed just one night as we were passing through the area. Found them on Google. We camped in a 27' Airstream travel trailer. This park has a very strange entrance and exit. From the road, you can't see the driveway and really have no idea what you're doing until you are 2/3 across the oncoming traffic. It (the driveway) is gravel and sloped down towards the office. Then it slopes further down and turns to get to the sites. In order to get out with your rig (towing), you will probably need 4-wheel drive because the incline from the sites to the office / road is steep and turns. The gravel was in good shape though. The sites are every other one gravel, every other one grass. The water is located so that 4 sites use the connection. The electric is set up for 2 sites to use. To say the least it is an unusual setup. We were trying to escape hurricane Florence and we were going to stay there 5 days, but we checked the weather and hurricane Florence was forecast to go over Bristol so we cancelled our reservation but they didn't think that we could cancel because of their policy is 48 hours for cancellation refunds. It is their policy and I don't hold it against them, but I don't have to like it either. They knew that we were evacuating the hurricane but still had no sympathy or common sense but after a second attempt to cancel with a different person we did get a partial refund better than nothing I guess but we will never go back to Shadrack. read more

Been staying here for race Weeks for past 8 years, awesome place, friendly staff. Newly upgraded supply store is nice in case u need a quick fix or forgot something. Ice delivery right to your camp site and a shuttle to and from the race track. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in Bristol!!! read more

This campground is a good place to stop over at. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles like a pool or a playground but it has a decent dog run. The park is clean and very well maintained. The is wonderful to deal with. Overall it's one of the better campgrounds I've dealt with! read more

Bobby and Lindsey are two main reasons we frequently stay at this RV/campground park. They make each camper feel important, welcome, safe. Bristol Motor Speedway is within walking distance for some and a shuttle is provided for others. Location, Location, Location! The campground itself has level, gravel sites with large grassy areas between each site. Each site has multiple hookups ( 2 or more for sewer, water and electrical). I have stayed at this campground several times and have never been disappointed. The restrooms and laundry rooms are clean, modern. They currently accept Passport America but their rates are already very reasonable. Drawbacks can include the rather steep entrance and the creek beside the campground that can overflow. Suggestions could include the addition of picnic tables and fire pits. read more

Everything was fine up until after the Nascar race on Saturday night. My husband and I noticed that at 2am the creek right behind us was flooding bad and fast. We had to wake everyone that were in tents and in trailers. We banged on doors screaming its flooding! Thank God everyone heard us. A lot of campers woke up and had to scramble and walk through dirty knee high water! The cops showed up but there was nothing they could do. Then finally after 3 hours of flooding the fire dept comes through but at that time mostly everyone was gone! The water started to reced at 6am. We didn't see 1 staff member or owner while all this was going on! Everything was ruined!! My tent was filled with water. We had to sleep in dirty wet water on our air mattress. The next morning was even worse. I called the front desk crying because we need help. I needed cleaning materials and a broom to sweep out the water. She could care less. She said oh go up to the maintenance building. I told her I cant drive right now everything is still flooded. No help was given or offered!!! She was more annoyed at the fact that someone was banging on her trailer at 3am to warn about the flood!! My firewood that I spent $ on was washed away and they didn't offer to give me more for no charge. I said you can charge me for the 4 nights that I was in a tent and if I could be move to a different site or a trailer that they had but of course the first thing she said was oh yeah that will be $99 a night. I was furious that they couldn't even accommodate us for the mess that happened because of them and that they didn't warn us!! From Saturday until Wednesday when we left they didn't come around and clean out the porta John's at all...omg the smell from the flood and shit!! Then I realized that they only had those there because of race week. Yesterday when I was packing up to leave, they came around and collected the porta Johns and took them away. Never stay at this dump again. They're going to get in a lot of trouble because the fire department was trying to call management for over 2 hours that night and nobody picked up the phone and they are getting sued because of all the damage to the trailers that people lost along with everything else!! It's nice to know that when it comes to money, they will kiss your feet but after a disaster like this happens and there's no more money to be spent they could care less. Large park with both gravel and grass sites. Great place to stop and relax overnight or a couple weeks. Lots of country music and bluegrass history in the area. Park is about 1/2 mile from Bristol Motor Speedway. We arrived the week after the big race so park was quiet. New managers are great folks and make sure you are happy with your site. Most sites are 30 AMP but manager want to convert more site to 50A. Unless you know where the park is you may miss it and drive is a little steep in and out when towing car on a dolly. Big rigs seem okay with toad being towed 4 down. The driveway does look intimidating but it's fine We arrived the week after the Spring race and ended up staying a couple of weeks to enjoy the Tri-Cities area. We have seen some of the changes that the new managers have begun are thoroughly impressed with their ideas for Shadrack. We have been treated as part of their family while here and We can't wait for our next trip through the Bristol area to see how much the campground will have changed throughout the rest of the spring and summer months. On our way back South we decided to spend a week back in Shadrack. What a remarkable change Don And Charlene had made in the 5 months since we had left! The addition to coin operated laundry to the fully funsctional kitchen for small gatherings is Assume! Also they have a pot luck Thursday which is fantastic , especially if you can talk Don into smoking some meat!!! His smoked ribs are GREAT. His work campers do a great job keeping the park neat. This campground is extremely boring and if you have a older trailer good luck not getting ridiculed by them because of it. After i payed them for the first months rent they sent us a letter complaining about the appearance of our camper. Lets just say that we are young people my fiance and I are not the most wealthy people so we set out to live in an old camper trailer to save money. It has leaks and the entire time weve been there it rained, yet they still requested us to remove our tarp off the top of our trailer. Not to mention the fact that it floods like crazy there so if you do not want dammage done to your Rv/mobile home I would strongly not recomend that you stay here. This place is in a flood zone. They were warned by police and the fire department that the area had a chance to flood, and they did not do what they needed to do to ensure that everyone knew.
