I had a really difficult day that day. We had bad storms and we don't live far from the campground, a couple hours south, but between the storm that not down a tree in our yard, I helped clean up and struggling with my diabetes, and then as I was driving North, a bad lightning storm I wasn't getting any service. I didn't know what to do or where to go. I ended up not spending the night after all, but I can say that communications were wonderful and the facility is beautiful. I did my research before I made a reservation for myself and I was going alone and I haven't been anywhere by myself in 10 years especially since I've become disabled so I ended up having to make other accommodations for the night and didn't get the pleasure of this visit but hopefully there's gonna be something open this weekend and I couldn't have Astro better communication. I can't. I did try to communicate late at night in late into the evening, but they do close their office at five and because of struggles with my diabetes which they have to be dealt with. I can't help that and then the storms here I got a very late start and once I was on my way, and I ran into this lightning storm I had no reception and no visibility. My GPS wasn't working correctly with no reception and this is also in an area that was affected by hurricane Helene and there was flash flooding warnings on the way up to the campground so I did what was the safest best thing for me but I just wanted to say that the prices are wonderful and fair. The facilities is beautiful. The family is kind and very communicative and I will definitely update if we are able to get a spot there this weekend so that our family can go and going with My Husband. I won't have the inability to take care of everything on my Own due to my unique situation so we'll actually make it this time lol I would highly recommend and also I did make it up there the following morning for my getaway and we were all talking about the lightning storm at a couple of places that I went and I was saying what it happened and I didn't make it to my destination where I was gonna stay and everybody that was local was like oh that's the best one out of all of the campgrounds around here if you come back, you need to stay there for sure you missed out and even though you couldn't help it, you know they're an awesome family and they have the nicest place so I did have a good word from local people too, so I'm gonna get a highly recommend for now. I'm sure it will only improve after this weekend. Hopefully there's a spot for us.!

Nestled along side the Doe River just inside the entrance…read moreto Roan Mountain State Park, this campground offers a variety of sites whether you want park along the river front or settle in on the side of the mountain. The staff at Sugar Hollow are friendly and accommodating and are continuing to expand their facilities. While we were there, the laundry area was completed and six new "long term" sites were cleared by inspectors. It is a remote area of Tennessee, but has all of the necessities within a ten minute drive. Do yourself a favor and check out the wood fired pizza at Smokey Mountain Bakers nearby. The six cheese is our favorite. And if that doesn't satisfy you, larger metro areas are with a 30 minute drive.

The coffee shop was a nice feature, but we were disappointed that it wasn't open on our way out of town Sunday. We understand why it's closed on Sundays, but the coffee shop, also being open to the public, should be open on Sundays if they're going to use this as a selling feature for coming to Big Mike's. The parking pads are a decent size and we had one right on the river. Since we were there in October, there wasn't a whole lot to do especially in the creek. It was evident at the time that big Mike was still working on expanding and building his dream RV park. The open area field is perfect for families so kids can run around or play ball. Overall, it was clean and the shower facilities were one of the best we'd experienced on our travels. We highly recommend big Mike's RV Resort!

Concerns Regarding Lakeview Marina I'm not sure what is…read moregoing on at Lakeview Marina, but as someone who has had a boat there for the past three years, I have become increasingly concerned about the direction the marina and restaurant are taking. We regularly visit to eat, enjoy the entertainment, and spend time at the marina. Unfortunately, the overall experience seems to be getting worse. At times, we receive excellent service, while on other occasions the service and atmosphere are noticeably inconsistent. I have also witnessed management interactions with employees that I found concerning. On several occasions, I have seen a manager come out and speak to young female employees in what appeared to be a very harsh or confrontational manner. Regardless of the circumstances, I do not believe that type of interaction is appropriate in front of customers and does not present a professional image. On one occasion, a young employee told us that she was being moved from her position to another area because of the GM. She also shared that she was pregnant and felt that she was being treated unfairly. I obviously cannot speak to the circumstances or whether everything she told us was accurate, but hearing an employee express those concerns was troubling. More recently, I overheard a young lady, based on her appearance, seemed potentially too young to be drinking, talking with servers about drinking upstairs with the manager and her friends in his apartment. She stated that she had to sneak out because the manager would not let them leave yet and that she ultimately had to run away. I cannot personally verify the circumstances or the ages of anyone involved, but hearing this be described the situation was concerning and raised questions that I feel management should be aware of. There is also one employee who has been at the marina since we first arrived this summer. From what I have observed, he seems to have a very positive relationship with the staff. He jokes with the servers, appears approachable, and seems to be well-liked by the employees. When he is present, the overall operation often appears to run more smoothly. We did not see him last week, and his absence was noticeable. I am not writing this simply to complain. We have invested in the marina for three years and genuinely want to see Lakeview Marina succeed. We enjoy the location, the entertainment, and being part of the marina community. However, the current situation has reached a point where I feel upper management needs to take a serious look at what is happening. I would appreciate some insight into what is going on behind the scenes and whether there are plans to address the management, staffing, and customer-service issues. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used constructively. We would much rather see Lakeview Marina improve than continue to watch the experience deteriorate.

Mind you we had our rv park there threw the year but we only stayed 3 or 4 wks every 4 months . So we weren't there all the time at first it was 700 a month with wifi included and ele was 25cents per killerwatts that adds up pretty quick by the time we decided to leave they were charging our card 900 a mo th and pre charge for months we were staying cause they put t our card on auto pay becareful of that . It was at the top of the road and an easy pull through. The park is quiet and friendly. It's under newer management and they seem to be very interested in doing things well. A couple minutes later they called me back. Unfortunately they had no spaces but referred me to another campground and luckily they had a spot for us. Even though we weren't fortunate enough to stay at Hampton RV we were very impressed with their customer service. Thank you so much Josh! The owner came out and called his friend to bring a truck and got our camper parked. The repair shop wasn't able to get the truck fixed before the weekend was over, so Rocco said we could keep it there as long as needed. Highly recommend staying at Hicks. They treat you like family and went way above and beyond! Even when we came back the following Sunday we were welcomed in. Can't wait to return.
