We chose Earhart Campgrounds for our Bristol camping because my coworker said her family owns it and it seemed very near the track.
NOTE that the address is a PO Box on the website. The actual camp location is off of Highway 11E DIRECTLY BESIDE THE TRACK. There are two sections - one beside the track on the same side of the road, one across 11E.
So when you get there you just decide which side you want to go to....we pulled in to the side right beside the track. They take cash only, $200 per spot, so we paid and a guy led us to a spot on a 4 wheeler. There are numerous spots and you can request one, even one way up on the hill, or whatever you want. The only thing you cannot do is reserve a spot in advance - first come, first serve, and they never fill up. I think there are some reserved spots for full-hook up access, so not sure where those spots are.
Spots are grass, not gravel, so keep that in mind as you will need blocks of some sort to put under your camper legs so that it doesn't sink into the soft ground after the rain. It did rain, and those grass spots will collect puddles and turn into a muddy mess - look for low spots in the ground if rain is in the forecast and try and avoid those being right in front of your camper door (we did not do this, that's how I know....).
Shower buildings are staffed and they are $5 per day or $20 per weekend. It is staffed and they have many items for sale if you forgot your shampoo or something. Showers had hot water, each one was separated and had a separate drain (so no water from someone else running through to your stall) and had doors that were like bathroom doors that locked. Could have used a bench in the outer shower cubby just to set my bag on, but plenty of hooks were available anyway. Mirrors and plugs are available in the main room for you to beautify before the race.
Port o Potties were not as plentiful throughout the camp as they are at TX Motor Speedway. The people at the front said they didn't know about renting port-o-potties for your campsite, but we found a truck riding around with one in the back and sho nuff, they were renting them. BELIEVE ME, THIS IS WORTH THE $80 because those other potties were straight wrecked. We had our own pottie for our own camp and it made all the difference in the world. Bring a padlock so that people you don't know don't use it.
If you forget something, the Walmart is about a mile down the street. There are a couple of grocery stores about a mile down the street too.
The campsite also has rows of vendors selling anything from shirts to food to ice to other souvenir items. I really liked the BBQ place with a huge smoker outside....I had that pulled pork for three nights in a row. Gah it was really freakin good. Also the campsite has a huge concert on Friday and Saturday night. They seemed to be country or Southern Rock type bands, but the ones we saw were pretty good. Pack up a cooler and bring it with you and check out the bands!
Entrance to the race was accessible right from our campground. We went the long way to look around, but there were multiple access points so that you could go in nearer your seat. Luckily we weren't all the way on the other side. Convenient!
Overall we really enjoyed the location and the amenities of Earhart Campground. I definitely will stay here again if I come back to camp for another race!! read more
