Update: Matt has zero accountability, evades my points, and even tries to lie about me. Please avoid him and his company at all costs! I am ready to prepare for legal action if he continues this. Matt has called my review inaccurate. Every single problem I listed below is ready to defend with evidence. He knows that. It's amazing how hard he tries to twist my review and avoids any accountability for his actions! I will now spread the word even more in the hopes that true, honest small businesses get awareness over people like this. 1. Matt has now lied that I threatened him with a negative review. I have posted the pictures here to show that he asked for a review and that I was preparing a good one for him despite all the ridiculous problems he gave me. But I was waiting until the damage he caused was fully dried after repainting to be sure. So when I discovered that it was the wrong paint and there was a failure to help me connect to the motor, that made me change course and write this review instead. 2. "Minor paint scratches?" Did Matt really try to lie about that too? There were indentations that I have pictures of and we can uncover to see the fill-ins. So let's see if he continues lying about that one. 3. The strictness of my building management has nothing to do with the problems I listed below. It caught us all by surprise that we needed approval for a simple installation. So we rescheduled for a week later once my building approved it. 4. I acknowledged in the original review that he gave me a good price. But that was greatly overshadowed by the long list of problems his company caused me. Original Review: Here's the list of things that went wrong during my installation that took three separate visits. The only reason there's one star is because the shades were offered at a good price. - Scratched and dented my wall in multiple places (neglected to bring a second guy for my high window and struggled with one person) - Incorrectly measured my window and brought in shades that were too big. - After bringing two guys the second time, one of the installers incorrectly installed the fascia. - One of the installers suggested a laser measurement in another visit to show that the shades weren't crooked but that my wall was, then denied he ever suggested that for me. - The third visit, they filled in my dents and scratches but the paint was completely different a week later after drying. - They tried setting up my app connection to the shade motor, nothing worked, then suggested that my WiFi was incorrectly set up. Then my internet company and I confirmed that the WiFi was set up perfectly for the app connection. So that was wrong too. I don't know what else to say. I guess if you don't want the hassle of three separate visits, many hours to install a shade, damage to your home, and more problems, please look elsewhere. read more

The plantation shutter was for older home, so the existing window frame was very shallow. One company told me that I had to remove the frame and replace with new ones. Other said that they will have to add outside frame and the finished products will look bulky. Thank goodness I found Shadows on Yelp! With Shadows they were able to work with my existing frame and made my old windows looks new again. Couldn't be happier with Shadows Design! Matt and Leo went above and beyond and the whole process was much faster and easier than I had anticipated. I was worried that an installation would take away from my new home as it's a historic building with a French Normandy exterior and everything was restored. Leo and Matt are nothing short of professional and experts at what they do. They installed for me motorized shades for my high windows and two smaller window shades. There are a lot of variables when it comes to shades; materials, design, motor, roller, pulley, etc. which I'm not familiar with at all, but Matt and Leo were patient and involved to help me decide the best combinations that worked for me and my budget. During installation, they brought all the necessary equipment and tools to get the job done and did so efficiently and quickly, and vacuumed up after they finished. I also researched and got quotes from 4 other vendors and Shadows provided the best pricing as well. Two things though that stood out to me the most working with them were: 1) They made it a point to provide a in-person consultation and did so Covid-safe, taking all the necessary precautions. I highly encourage in-person consultations over phone consultations/quotes because there's details that can be missed from the customer's end that can prove to be meaningful in terms of installation and pricing. For example, all the other vendors (which I only had phone consultations with) advised I'll need at least two motors given the specs I provided on the phone, however, with Shadows, they advised one motor is more than sufficient, which saved me significant $$, something that was flushed out since they were able to assess the space live. 2) On our first scheduled appt, I had a family emergency that left me unable reach out and let them know I could not make the meeting at my place. Upon realizing I was not reachable, they kindly and professionally left a message to reach back out to reschedule at my convenience. I called them back a few days later to apologize and to explain what happened and they were very gracious and were more considerate of my well-being than the missed appt.
