There were 3 trainees involved the first did my hair wash and she absolutely killed it. Her scalp massage was on point and she was so friendly. Her name was Esmeralda I believe. As for the other two trainees, the manager or trainer had them do one side of my hair each. They both were super nervous and I can understand why but so was the girl who washed my hair and I am thinking they are a little bit intimidated by their manager? I will say the manager did seem like she wanted to be doing something other than training them. Anyway... Each time, they used the curling brushing, it caused noticeable pain, as though multiple strands of hair were being pulled out with every pass of the brush. This occurred consistently and left my head feeling so uncomfortable. I shed hair and I told the trainer and trainees this before they started in order to hopefully get them to know I don't want to lose more hair than I already do. I understand that trainees are still learning and that not every issue is their fault, but it might be worth reviewing the brushing techniques or adding more hands-on guidance during training to prevent this level of discomfort. The end result was fine but I wish there was a little more volume. The manager did give this one to me for free just because I was the only one who signed up for the new stylists promo but I would have had a real issue if I did end up getting charged for this. As a result, I'll probably only return if I can book directly with an experienced stylist. That said, I enjoy the salon atmosphere and services overall.

But if you know anything about me, I got some seriously awesome hair. I mean we are talking Don Draper in his prime kind of hair. And it really takes someone special to get that right. Fade with a part to the side, little pomp in the front, and comb over. oh and LOTS OF GREASE!!!! This is barber shop stuff that local barber shops don't know how to do anymore! Kristy does it all.......... Instead of waiting forever to get butchered at some barbershop in the mall, swing by Kristy's place and get a cut that's quick, cheap, and high quality!! You can even book on the phone, email, or Facebook and not have to wait! She even sends email reminders for those forgetful soles (Me!). Regardless if its cut or color, man or woman, this friendly 1960's inspired joint is a one stop shop to get your hair did!

Shear Shack came up & I was able to make an appointment on her website which was awesome. I arrived & Kristy was as sweet as could be. I showed her a picture of what I wanted & discussed some concerns which she addressed & really helped put me at ease. Kristy was so friendly & we chatted the whole time, I love that I wasn't just sitting there in an awkward silence which has happened at other places before. I felt like we were old friends. She checked periodically throughout the session to make sure that the client is pleased with her service. I did a trial run with her for my wedding make up and hair and we booked with her, she also did wedding hair and make up for my wedding and we were all fully satisfied! Then I expanded on my dissatisfaction with the receptionist. Follow up email from management sounded more like I was being chastised. She offered to refer me to another neighborhood spa. I thanked her for her offer, politely declined, and assured her I would not be returning. Gave her a couple days to reply to my feedback. It was my moms birthday - with that they have a party "package" with discounted rates. When we arrived she had mimosas for us & we had the salon to ourselves. The facials with Shelby were amazing, we felt so refreshed. We also ended up getting deep conditioning treatments while waiting for our turn for the facials.
