As a big fan of Chinese Hot Pot, was totally excited about Shabu Shabu. Here my pros and cons of this place. Location is excellent, in Mokotowska street a few steps north from Plac Zbawiciela. Easy access with public transportation, parking could be difficult for car owners. Food is delicious. Traditional hot pot with choice of broth, vegetables, proteins and more. BEWARE, if you are one of those eaters who do not enjoy customizing your food this place might give you a hard time. You must come with passion to design your perfect combination of broth, vegetables, spiciness and seafood/meet/tofu. Dumplings are delicious! Mushroom filling strongly recommended. All food comes uncooked and must be placed on the pots. Boiling broth cook your vegetables and proteins while the steam cooks your dumplings through the bamboo containers. If you are super hungry, eat a cereal bar or something before coming here. Food takes a while, and once is placed in your table and your stomach is craving you realized you still have to wait extra 10-15 min until is cooked. :O Service is not very friendly, not efficient. Drinks took about 30 minutes. When they finally arrived, I was so thirsty that drank my 200ml coke immediately. It took extra 20 min to get a second coke. Food arrived over 1 hour of sitting down. Painful process but everything was tasty and yummy. Overall the place and the concept are very good. Prices are ok. Reservations is recommended in lunch and dinner time. tables over 6 people might be difficult to accommodate. Service needs improvement in efficiency and friendliness. What an underwhelming experience after expectations were set so high. I already had a bad feeling when making the reservation and hearing a total lack of engagement from the person taking it, but I put it down to a rough day. The disappointment started right from entering the place. Even though we booked a table and the place was pretty empty it took us couple of very long minutes before we were seated. The table hadn't been properly cleaned after the previous guests and the waitress was indifferent to our requests to be moved to another table. Now. Food-wise. Let's start with the good bits. The Thai version of broth is really good although some can call it spicy. The beef was of good quality as well. Even though it was manually cut and torn as the slicing machine broke down. That actually made the experience but more Thai or Vietnamese like. Bamboo shoots and cabbage were also good. Can't complain about the noodles either. Unfortunately, this is where the good parts end. Some of the veggies were actually rotten and you could see they have seen better days. Broccoli was actually yellowish rather than green. The seafood was inconsistent at best. Shrimps were supposed to be already prepped for cooking but some actually still had to be peeled. I don't mind but be consistent. Beef balls are just like in Thailand I.e. awful :) definitely can't recommend them. As for the hot pot being set in the table. It's a cool idea, but it's a bit too deep to properly enjoy it. But it might be just me. All in all, I don't think I'll be coming back anytime soon and I sincerely hope that my experience was an exception as hotpots are amazing way to enjoy food on your own or with friends. read more

Great shabu shabu! The three choices of soup base were all delicious, the meat was sliced nice and thin and the veggies were fresh. I liked the way that the broth heaters were built right into the table. This shabu shabu spot would be right at home in Japan but I'm glad to have it here in Warsaw. Don't be shy when you order the meat it does require a few orders to make a meal and it is quite reasonably priced. read more

Been meaning to go there for a while as I live close by. Lets say my expectations weren't high, and I ended up very impressed, by the food and the check. I tried the Thai stock with some meat, vegetables an Dim Sums. The stock was excellent and the hot pot concept is definitely not only a gimmick. The meat was great as well as the vegetables, the Dim Sums also good (only negative point, you steam them over the hot pot and have to wait). My friend had the Thai Chicken Curry, and although it wasn't the real deal, it was very flavorful and nicely presented. I will definitely return, and it is very reasonably priced. read more

I would say it was a terrible experience. The first impression was not so good because the tables and chairs were bit messy and unclean. We ordered pad Thai and a curry duck set, but both were disappointing. The noodles are over cooked and the duck was totally not fresh. And the dessert, the waitress served a mango pudding and there is no pudding inside at all, only smashed mango. The service was okay at the beginning but when we billed the waitress just keep the change for herself and told us she has got no change. I would say it's ridiculous and horrible. Shabu Shabu or Saigonka, whatever you call yourself. What a real mixed bag of levels should be a two and a half star. The staff seems to try hard but is let down by the kitchen. Six of us went there and ordered the set 180, even with 4 days in advance reservations they still did not have everything on the dish that was on the menu, the broccoli was missing as was some noodles, they were out of some dim sum and only had 4 pieces of another. One of the hot pots malfunctioned and either the soup was too cold to cook or then went on hi and wouldn't shut so it overcooked the crab and burnt out the bottom of the pot, which we finally had to unplug. Forgot some beverages and had to be reminded. On the plus they weren't afraid to speak English, the waitress kept smiling and was attentive, the food that was served was very fresh and tasty but I do think that the cooks in the back preparing try to get away with putting less on the plates if they can hide it rather than admitting they are not prepared for service. So a place where a knowledgeable and assertive diner can dine well. Nice people will be taken advantage of. read more
