Who could ever have thought that a rowdy bar could turn out such good seafood dishes? The focus at Kraken Rum Bar isn't just on drinks--it's on the food too! My pick from the menu was the seafood mix, which came with a mix of shrimp, octopus, and squid in a buttery, garlicky white wine broth, along with baguette slices and two different dipping sauces (a citrusy yellow sauce and an herbaceous green sauce) served in hollowed out halves of limes. The flavors of the seafood and the sauces were simply incredible, and the bread was the perfect vessel for mopping up the broth. We also ordered the "Swieza ryba z grilla," a whole grilled sea bass, which was stuffed with herbs on the inside and seasoned perfectly on the outside, creating a moist interior and a crispy, flavorful exterior. The delicious fish was served with a long, crispy crouton, along with a colorful array of pickled vegetables including beets, cucumbers, cauliflower, carrots, and radishes. You'd never imagining finding this almost gourmet seafood dish in a bar, but here it was, and everything came at amazing prices too! read more

Run by the same folks behind the next door cafe Beirut, Kraken has very much the same feel to it: hipsterish & cool...in other words, perfectly tailored to the nouveau-cool of Warsaw (tink Kreuzberg in Berlin or Shoreditch/Dalston in London). As you can hear by my slight irony in the above sentence, I'm not such a fan oft this style, but nevertheless I did like what I ate here. In fact, my colleague at recommended me to eat the hummus from next-door Beirut Cafe and order the seafood platter from Kraken Bar...as the two places are joined with each other, you can place your order at the same time (in each place separately though) and then eat it in any one of them. The mixed seafood platter came with mini octopus, shrimp and calamari; the bigger pieces of calamari were stuffed with some kind of grain - almost like dolmas. This dish seemed to be very popular, as I saw at least 4 other people eating the same dish. And it's popularity is well-deserved, as I quite enjoyed eating it...soaking up the last bits of lemony sauce with the white bread served on the side. read more

Not only were the drinks super yummy, the bar tender so kindly gave (for free) my husband some water after he heard him hiccup-ing Such a small yet so kind gesture!! Rum rum and more rum! They have an extensive rum cocktail list. The bartenders speak English and are more than willing to explain each drink until you decide which one you'd like to try. This is extremely helpful as they don't have table service -- if you want a drink belly up to the bar. The Mojito looked like a salad (tons of fresh herbs) in a glass and was not syrupy sweet. The Old Fashion was serviced in an old timey glass -- a bit sweet for my taste. The crowd is young and hip. Even though it's a bar it seems to be kid friendly -- from strollers to toddlers all seemed welcomed and were very well behaved! They do offer food that is ordered from a takeout window in the middle of the bar--might be another venue. It seemed popular but I didn't try it. The saddest thing about leaving Warsaw was leaving this place behind! A dedicated Kraken rum bar, with exclusive Kraken beer, and full seafood menu as well as cocktails; what more could a birthday girl ask for?! We arrived a bit late for my birthday dinner, but thank the sea gods they serve food till midnight, and though it was still heaving we managed to get a seat right away. Like I said, the menu is all seafood, so if squid and crustaceans don't rock your boat, then go for the cocktails! We picked the mussels, fish curry, salmon tatar and mixed seafood to share between 3. You order at the bar and when your dishes are ready your table number is called and you collect it from the bar. It's quite loud, and in Polish (obviously!) so it was a bit hard to listen out for our food, but the staff were sooo lovely that they called ours out in English when they realised it was our table. I could not fault a thing we ate, though I would have preferred a bit more lighting to actually be able to see it, especially as my companions weren't fans of the octopus, so it was left to me to hoover up the delicious tentacles and squid. Poor me, I hear you say. Well, someone had to take one for the team. The cocktails were out of this world, and so reasonably priced, but considering the exchange rate and general cheapness of the city, I could say that about everything. The wee barman that served us most of the time was a total star, and made a nice fuss for my birthday, so much so we put a shot of tequila to the side for him. The music isn't really to my taste, and it's pretty loud and dark, with only one toilet serving both here and it's adjoining bar, but none of that really had any negative effect on the evening. Kraken Rum Bar has delicious, well priced seafood for Warsaw, in my opinion. Unfortunately, we came to grab a bite to eat not knowing there was a concert of sorts going on and the bar was completely packed and we had to search for a table for quite some time. When we did eventually get a table we ordered our food at the bar and when it arrived, it made up for the crowded packed place. I ordered the shrimps and mussels, they were divine! The mussels were in a white wine cream sauce which was served with a side of bread and soaking up that sauce with the bread was delicious. I definitely recommend! Just make sure you don't come for dinner on a night when there's any music event going on. read more

The guys next door "Beirut" just bought out space, broke the wall and opened this lovely pub. I love Beirut so I knew these guys will get it right before even coming here and they sure did. The nautical theme fits perfect with amazing seafood and good draft beer that they serve. I got a chance to meet their chef, really cool guy who used live in New York so I assure you he knows good seafood :) read more

We were in Warsaw over the Easter break, and being good Friday we were looking for somewhere to eat that served seafood. This place seemed to fit the bill, and boy oh boy did it exceed our expectations. The bar was quite busy, and it took a few minutes to find somewhere to sit. There are two bars, which makes it easy to order food and drinks, and the menu is above the bar, so no need for table menus. Though the menu isn't in english the servers speak perfect english and can help you out with menu choices. We ordered two rounds of food, as we were starving, and the dishes are quite small. The baby squid was delicious as was the calamari. The cocktails are well made and I recommend the ginger rum(the name escapes me now). The prices are good for english tourists, however I imagine for a local they can seem a bit over priced. read more

The good thing about Kraken Rum Bar is that it's like you are in Krakow and not in Warsaw! The mentality is great, the feeling is awesome and the people gathering there even better. Food and drinks are at the highest level, especially if you are looking for value for money. Located at one of the most promising neighborhoods of Warsaw, Kraken is a good option to kick your night off. Beers from 2,5€ Wine (bottle) from 17€ (expensive for Polish bars, great for Greeks like me) Food from 8-9 per person. Highly recommended. read more

Solid, solid cooking of seafood. Only thing I disagree with is the pricing. However, because of Warsaw's physical location, importing seafood is more expensive than meats and produce. Shares the same space with Beirut. read more

The restaurant is just opposite of our hotel H15 Boutique, food is very tasty, we 2 people ordered mixed seafood, fish, Caesar salad, and house white wine, portion was not big but enough for us.
