This has been my go-to repair shop for over 25 years! They used to be at the corner of Tara Hills Drive and SPA. More on that later. Ok, so recently I have had a few horrible encounters that have led me to finally lose hope with this place. I guess I was hoping that it was a fluke, since I have had previous success with my 5+ vehicles that they have worked on, but after the latest snafu, I am done with them. So the most recent encounter, I had my 2000 Jaguar to them and specifically asked them to diagnose what I needed to bring the car to be my daily driver. The car had been sitting for a long time and the battery was completely dead so I needed to tow it in. I asked if they could check all fluids, hoses and seals as well as anything else that needs immediate attention. I called them before hand and was told that they had time. The car arrived in the morning of Tuesday, June 25th. After not hearing from them for 2 days and the weekend approaching, I called and was told that the person working on it, the owner, was out of the office and would call me back. After not hearing from him, I called again the next day, which was Friday. I was then told by the owner that the battery was replaced and my car was ready to be picked up. When I asked about what he found after checking the other things I asked about, I was told that "he forgot to do the diagnosis of everything else." WTH! So basically, my car sat there for 4 days for a battery change that I could have called AAA roadside or went to Pep Boys and got swapped out on my own. Being that it was the end of business Friday, I was also now forced to leave the car outside of their shop over the weekend which has been burglarized frequently. I could of (and should have) picked the car up and brought it back the following week, but that was the week of 4th of July, and they aren't always available for drop off or at least they haven't been. I just kept my fingers crossed and planned to pick it up the following week after everything was checked and fixed. After not hearing from them on Monday, I called that Tuesday and was told once again that the owner was out and I would get a call back from him when he returned. STILL NO LUCK! I finally was able to get the owner on the phone and was told it needed over $4000 worth of work. This is a 2000 Jaguar S-Type! I was also made aware that I was billed nearly $400 for that battery replacement, which is ridiculous! On top of that I was charged another $620 for the diagnosis. So over $1k and over a week in the shop, mostly just sitting there not being worked on, and I still had a car that was not fit to drive home. Being that the next day was the 4th of July and they were gonna be closed for the next 4 days, I was not gonna leave my car there a day longer. That would have been 2 weeks at their shop. I had it towed back on the 3rd. Before I give my reason for my rating, I will briefly give you another issue I have had with this company and what I was told by the owner. So my Ford Excursion was broken into and the drivers door handle was broken off as was the ignition. I brought it in after a couple of days because they were too busy to see me the first day i called. When I finally got it in there I was quoted for the repair of the door handle and the ignition replacement. I was called the next day and told it was ready to pick up. When I went to pick it up, I found a cheap black plastic door handle on my door, not the painted white handle that I thought I was getting. This new handle felt so fragile and has since broken off as I thought it would. What's worst is I was told that I needed to pay over 3 times more than I was quoted!!!! When I questioned it, I was told that it must have been a mistake on the quote because it took longer than I was told it would. WHAT! I should have just accepted that this place has changed with their level of exceptional customer service, but I guess I was hoping they would figure it out and just had a bad day. After the last problem with them, I was told by the owner that if I don't like their prices then why do I keep coming back? Excellent question. I will never go back again. My opinion is that when this place had the shop in the Valero Gas Station at Tara Hills, they were always busy but was able to meet deadlines and get things done with very good service. Since they moved their shop into their own newer and bigger building, the service has soured and the level of customer service has dropped tremendously! I feel like they are over booking and rushing their repairs to meet their quota to pay for that pretty new shop, and they can't handle it without overcharging and under-performing. Just my opinion but I feel like it is probably accurate. It's too bad because I referred so many people to them over the last quarter of a century. Oh well. read more

I was really frustrated because the shop I'd taken my car to before could never fix my car and just kept charging me more and more for other car problems I really believed they created themselves. A few years back, i had my car towed here because it was the closest place to Appian and i had just moved to Pinole. After leaving the vehicle, i got a phone call stating that several parts need to be replaced including the transmission and the estimate was over $6,000. I needed a second opinion, so i had the vehicle towed to CJ Automotive in Albany (where i moved from. I found out that the vehicle could be fixed at a fraction of the cost. I learned a valuable lesson that if you know a trustworthy mechanic, tow it the extra miles and not just trust the review/star rating of the closest place. It's not always accurate. Clearly trying to milk more money. Completely dishonest company, I paid a tons of fees just to be told my part was bad. I took my car to SG for an oil change. I was quoted a price over the phone but when I picked up my car I was charged an extra 30%. Not ok. I was also told I have an oil leak and need to spend nearly $400 to repair. Because I hadn't lost any oil since my prior change I was suspicious and decided to get a second opinion. First time going to S&G and they did a great job. Cesar and Sergio were both very friendly.

They fixed my heater in 2008 Ford Taurus in Jan 2019 but then recommended replacing AC Condenser to prevent tiny leak in transmission from getting worse. (never saw anything leaking EVER) In June I trusted them and let them do the work. Based on whatever they did to my car my transmission went bad six weeks later and was severely damaged. Now I have to have transmission repaired $3,000 plus on top of the $1200 I lost when I paid Sergio and Ceasar to replace AC Condenser and do whatever damage they did to my car. Very poor communication and workmanship. They ruin my car and I totally feel scammed by them. read more

This place is unprofessional and not pleasant to do business with. I was told I could bring my car in to have fixed, hours later I called to check in on the status. The first the owner i spoke to said I couldn't bring in a vehicle after a certain time to get worked on to which i told him that i was already told to bring my car in and it was already in his shop! He said it didn't matter because at the end of the day it's his shop. Then the other mechanic told me that I should just be grateful cause he's squeezing me in..... but i spent hours of the day waiting when they should've just told me to come in another day. No one needs to deal with the family drama they got going on here. Stay clear.
