Came here on a Friday afternoon a little before they opened and there was already a line. The set up was interesting, you write your order on a sheet of paper and they bring it out to you, then you go to the counter and pay your meal. The idea of freshly made pasta was great. The pasta was perfectly cooked, though my tortellini was a tad bit bland. The price was not too bad and the overall service was ok. The lasagna had great flavor and though it looked small it was a good portion.

YUM! We stumbled upon the long line, looked up reviews, and decided we had to try it too. The line moved surprisingly quickly and we were inside in about 30 minutes despite the 20-25 person line. Meals were delicious- we got stuffed pumpkin ravioli and tagliatelle ragu. Wine was good too and so were prices! The pasta was fresh and delicious and we were both highly satisfied with this meal.

Here with the food tour. We had the veal cutlet which was amazing. Service was very good.

TLDR: Fresh tasty pasta at terrific prices, though maybe not worth waiting in line for an hour. Walking by this place on a Tuesday evening a line of about 20-25 people waited outside the door. Wow popular! They don't take reservations so best get there early as a limited amount of each pasta is made daily so your luck might be out on a few options later in the evening. Not sure if this is necessarily a spot local foodies would vouch for, because almost everyone in line was a foreign tourist. This point I didn't really realize until I too, as a foreign tourist, waited the following day during lunch for about 40 minutes in line before being seated. It's bustling inside! Waitstaff keep the line outside very organized, asking for the number of people in each party well before you enter the door. Inside the restaurant is deeper than it looks from the outside, it seats about 40 people. They have the English menu written on a chalkboard so it's easy to view, and also accessible via QR code. You write your order on a paper pad and give it to a wait staff. It took a while to both get someone's attention and also get tap water, they said they'd bring it when I placed the order though I had to ask again after my pasta arrived. The tagliatelle with ragu was pretty good--maybe bc it was the 3rd iteration of pasta with tomato based sauce that I had on my trip but it didn't particularly stand out. The pasta was fresh and perfectly cooked, the ragu was good--just enough sauce to coat the pasta. Some of the other more creative options sounded appealing, though visually when checking out other diners' plates they didn't really look or smell delicious in a way that would've made me super stoked to try them. I would probably give them another shot to try a few of their more seasonal pastas, though the line is not necessarily one I'd like to contend with, at least when it's warm outside. Asking for the check also took longer than expected, everyone seemed to be hurriedly doing one thing or another. There is a counter at the front of the restaurant where you can order a selection of desserts and uncooked pastas to go. I saw quite a few groups come in to buy pasta. A couple bathrooms are located at the back of the restaurant.

I agree with what most have reviewed already, so I won't get too deep. The pro's: -English menu posted on the wall, so no need to struggle -servers speak English (tourist friendly) The con's: -pasta was mid, at least my meal (lemon & spinach pasta) - possible tourist trap, prices didn't match the experience. Wouldn't come out my way to visit, but if in the area and convenient for you then perhaps?

The homemade ravioli was absolutely delicious. Service was top-notch and the menu had plenty of options to choose from. Highly recommend!

Love the unique seasonal spread of pastas they have compared to some more traditional spots!! Rlly veggie accommodating and i love that the meal comes as a set. I mistakenly ordered the side separately not knowing it already comes w a small portion but i wasnt mad cuz it was great - mild and crunchy giardinera to break up the pasta ! For my pasta i got black tortelli w endive and potatoes, served in tomatoes, olives, w potato chips. It was tooooooo good

We had high expectation based on previous reviews but honestly were not impressed with the food at Sfoglia Rina. After waiting about 15 minutes, we were seated and ordered by writing on a pad of paper. The pasta itself was delicious and homemade but both sauces (Ragu and Parmesan cream) were not very good. The Ragu lacked flavor, as did the Parmesan cream. It's nice that bread, water, and a rotating side dish are included with the cost of the meal. Although affordable, we left disappointed. Maybe it was just an off night but we have had much better dinners in Bologna.

If you want authentic and fresh Italian pasta that locals come to then COME HERE. If you don't want to wait in a long line then come after the Italian lunch time which is between 3PM - 5PM. They seat you and write down on a piece of paper your order. It was only 2 of us but did we get 3 pastas? Yes and I regret nothing!!! We got the gramigna which was cooked perfectly - right in between al dente and soft. The sausage had a lot of flavor. This was the one I didn't expect to like so much and ended up being my favorite! The tortellini with butter and sage filled with ricotta is such a simple dish yet packs so much flavor. The Italians really understand simplicity! The ricotta was creamy and the sauce was buttery with that hint of sage. I also got the tagliatelle with bolognese and it was good but the other dishes outshined it. I wished it had more ragu sauce on it! Overall, I'd come here again and again if I was in Bo

Love this restaurant! This place is a true gem, and was especially welcome after spending the last couple days in Venice, which has mostly over-priced, tourist-trap types of restaurants, with mediocre food. On the other hand, Sfoglia had amazing, tasty, and authentic Bolognese cuisine, with fast, friendly service and affordable prices. The ambiance was casual, with a modern feel. Also, unlike most restaurants in Europe, the water was free!

Super popular spot in Bologna, although I can't say I was impressed. The waiters were rude and the food was ok. Quaint spot with quaint decorations and a nice market section for pastas etc. We ordered the tagliatelle with ragù alla bolognese (good, not great) and the lasagna alla bolognese (way overcooked to the point that pasta was brittle). We got there at a good time and we're ushered in, but when we left there was a line almost around the block. May give them another try next time I'm in Bologna.

I loved this place! I think if I lived in Bologna I would be a regular. I love the revolving menu of fun pasta dishes. They're creative. I got a gazpacho pasta dish. I didn't try any of the traditional dishes so I can't speak on that, but the filled pasta I got was excellent. The service was good and everyone working there was very nice.

Fantastic food. Service is quick and efficient. They have to be because this place gets really crowded. The vibe is casual and comfortable. I will definitely return!

There are plates of thinly sliced meats with cheeses everywhere so it's hard to choose where to go, especially if you're a couple of vegetarians like us. We made a good choice here, ordering a cheese board for one and a mixed salad. The cheese board was so plentiful that we had to re-confirm that this was just a serving for one. It was. Really generous with 6 different local cheeses of various tastes and firmness, surrounding a cup of honey which sealed the deal for us. We loved this cheese board and left referring back to it as we had cheese in other places on our trip. The salad (I mean you have to occasionally eat vegetables...even in Italy) was basic, just arugula and tomatoes, but was super-fresh. Also they brought the region's famous bread in a paper bag. Well, I don't know if "famous" is the right word, but this is the only place in the world we'd experienced the bread brought in paper bags, so sign me up for its autograph. This was a great choice for a cheese plate among the many options on this street and in the area. The cheese board especially was our favorite cheese in the whole country.

The ground/1st floor is mostly books and a casual bar/cafe, where they serve simple pastries and coffee/tea in the morning and apertivo options (meaning light bites and classic cocktails) in the early evening. Upstairs on the second floor (1st floor for Europeans ;), there is a selection of olive oils, vinegars, condiments, dry goods, snacks, candies, wines and liquors, and gifting items.
