Wonderful neighborhood Osteria. Very cozy and friendly place. Service was friendly and swift!! Food was wonderful! Had a meat cold cut appetizer. Also had tagliatelle Ragu. Delizioso and favoloso!

Everything went well, the restaurant is amazing and the service itself too. The food is absolutely delicious and tasty.

There's a bajillion places like this in Bologna - small, welcoming, excellent food, charming, and just around the corner. And you'd be wrong to ignore them - ubiquity does not mean they aren't worth frequenting!

Absolutely perfect local Osteria that is also open and quite welcoming to obvious tourists like myself. A relaxing, classic atmosphere with just enough hustle and bustle to put me at ease. Lots of locals chowing down on Bolognese classics and good local wine. The Tagliatelle Al Ragu was probably the best we had in Bologna. Rich and meaty, sweet and savory, with fresh tagliatelle that had just enough springy life left in it, yet still absorbed all of that Ragu goodness. For me this is the perfect restaurant in a city like Bologna. When I'm going about my daily life and start casually disassociating, my mind is back here.

Phenomenal dining experience at a price that won't hurt your wallet too badly. It had some of the best pasta I've ever had in Italy or elsewhere. Tortellini al brodo (5/5) - mini wrapped up pasta balls of deliciousness in a flavorful broth. It packed so much flavor in each bite it was astounding Tagliatelle al ragu (5/5) - quintessential rendition of the iconic pasta dish known as Bolognese sauce pasta in America Lasagna (3.5/5) - interesting and better than in America but I'd skip it in favor of more of the other pasta The dessert was a near limitless assortment of Italian dessert. None were too swear and all were delicious. Wine was excellent and cheap. Staff was really friendly. They clearly took pride in the food they served and they should!

Best lasagna i have had in my life

Came here as a suggestion from my Bolognese friend and it didn't fail to disappoint. The lasagna is to die for!! It melts in your mouth and it is sooo fresh!! You have to press a button/doorbell to get into the restaurant. For appetizers, we got mortadella slices, tortellini in broth, tortellone with butter and sage, lasagna with béchamel sauce, ragu, beef/pork and mozzarella with fresh spinach/herb pasta and semolina pasta which just melted in our mouths, and even a possibility of ten different desserts. We stopped after being served a huge flan, brownie, mascarpone, chocolate mousse, cream cake with rice and ricotta and cream puffs with dark chocolate that you can dip or drizzle. We also got the house red and white wine which was very smooth and not dry. At the end, they served limoncello, nocci and a licorice hard liquor which you can pour as much as you want to help you digest. I will definitely be back!

Tagliatelle al ragu. So good!!!

Best restaurant in town! I had the tagliatelle with the bolognese sauce and it was the best pasta I've ever had! You must order the dessert here; it's an experience!!! When you're ready, just ask for dessert. They'll just start bringing out like 10-12 different desserts that you can just dig into and all of them are to die for!!!!

Traditional tagliatelle bolognese.

Good, but far from great. The rating is based only on the taste of the food. I tried three different pastas and the taste ranged from mediocre to acceptable. One of the pastas was seriously overcooked. The bolognese sauce was completely bland and needed a lot of seasoning as well as on the dryer side (it lacked texture) but the pasta it came on was at least cooked to a perfect al dente. One of the sauces I had was the porcini mushroom sauce and it also was seriously underseasoned.

Excellent Lou College cafe I highly recommend this place.

I got a hot tea with lemon, perfect for the cold. We first got the pizza Bella arte, which has a bunch of toppings. I'm not normally a huge pizza fan, but this one was quite pleasant. The crust was thin and the edges had a nice crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. It was flavored nicely and had a good variety. My only complaint would be that toppings weren't distributed evenly. There was a huge one piece of artichoke that comprised a full bite. We also opted for more traditional Balogna dishes: the tortellini en brodo, which was not bad. Soup was seasoned ok, not too salty or too bland. The tortellini itself was simple, with some meat and cheese. Seems like a nice comfort food for those who grow up with it. The tagliatelle al ragú was seasoned well too, although the actual pasta was not as bouncy as others I've had. Not bad though. However at the end we thought we had ordered panna cotta and for some reason it never came. The waiter later seemed confused even though he previously repeated "dessert panna cotta"... so I don't know. But we decided to go without the dessert.... Unfortunately. Maybe a language issue we had.

Several other groups in there, and it's a really nice spot. Food and wait staff were all wonderful. Our group had a mix of steaks, pizza, tortellini and lamb chops, a well as a caprese-style flatbread, and a carafe of red wine. Prices, like everywhere in Bologna, were all a fraction of what you'd pay for a far worse meal in the US, making it painful to leave town.

While the food was outstanding, the management and staff were even more impressive. I don't believe I've ever felt more welcome and comfortable after a restaurant. Finally, the location, just off Piazza Maggiore, was close enough to feel like part of the festive street scene, but not so close as to be overwhelmed or distracted. 20 thumbs up from our group of Americanos!

By the time we left, the place was fully packed. I was craving some fresh seafood, as all of the rich, delicious creamy and cheesy pastas I had been eating were starting to feel too heavy for me. The seafood platter I got was perfect, and I felt the price was very fair for the generous portions of seafood - all perfectly cooked! I wouldn't recommend the side of grilled vegetables for 6 euro, bland and nothing special. My favorite was the sea bream, scallops and shrimp. My husband ordered their lasagna and enjoyed it too, but not his favorite during our time in Bologna. Service was friendly and prompt (especially for European standards compared to what we're used to in the states). Based on our experience, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend La Mela to enjoy for dinner as one of your meals in Bologna!
