    Mascarpone berries. 3/2012
    Fancypants X.

Useless FPX trivia of the day: My favorite fruits are berries. My least favorite fruits are apples, pears & grapes. Bf & I were eating our way through the mission tonight & came across this dessert truck on 16th & Mission. Cupcake flavor of the day sounded interesting: green tea creme brulee ($3). I went for the mascarpone berries ($4.75) which really was a delight. Loved the thick, decadent mascarpone. Nice mix of blackberries, raspberries, & strawberries. I might have liked it better if the fruits were fresh as opposed to frozen. The strawberry syrup made this dessert a little too sweet. I so agree with my yelp homie miss Cherylynn N on her 3.5 star rating. Good call, girl. SF Delights is not just a 3, but it's not yet a 4. I'm upgrading because this kid's got potential.

Chocolate delight and Thai coffee tiramisu. Large and small size.

If…read moreyou've read my previous reviews, you already know I always mention how my husband has never met a burrito he couldn't finish. I ordered the tacos al pastor, and they were delicious. The meat was flavorful, well-seasoned, and exactly what I was craving. The experience really depends on what time you go. I work near the restaurant, so I'm able to walk over before the lunch rush. When I go early, it's easy -- walk in, order at the register, and sit down to wait for your food. But I've also gone a little after lunch and it was super busy. The service is okay, but honestly, the food makes up for it. If you want to avoid the rush, I definitely recommend going before 12 p.m., especially during the workweek. I can't speak for the weekends, but before noon is definitely the sweet spot.

I'll do you one better and say this place has the best Al Pastor in the Bay Area. Ordered an 1.) Al pastor burrito, "Tijuana style". Meaning no rice and beans. Comes with melted cheese, avocado, cumin, lime, cilantro and your choice of red or green salsa. And 2.) crispy queso tac. Melted cheese on a tortilla, onion, cilantro, and your choice of protein. We picked shrimp (they were huge). And a strawberry horchata. Everything was delicious. Spent about $28 and was able to split the meal with the wife. Plenty of food to feel satisfied before going out with friends for drinks. Al pastor is cooked and Cutt from a trompo(a rotating spit). Salsa complimented it well. Cheese is melty and everything feels like it's incorporated versus just throwing pre cooked ingredients together. Strawberry horchata was unique and good. More on the sweeter side and likely will try the ube when I come back. Inside had a small area to eat. Maybe a total of 8-10 tables and chairs. You walk up on the left which feels kinda cafeteria style before you order at the register. They also have a large screen projector, we came in during the World Cup 2026, so they had games playing. I'm happy for the owner. I've followed them since they were a food truck, happy they success follows since they are able to get a brick and mortar. so well deserved.

I also love how quick the service is - I never have to wait more than a minute for my order! The food is also always pipping hot. My regular orders on rotation (I'd give them all 5 stars!): Chicken Momos ($14) - Comes in 8 pieces. The dumplings are large, flavorful, with the perfect skin-to-meat ratio. It is served with Bini's spicy tomato cilantro sauce on top; the sauce is delicious with just a slight/mild kick. Vegetarian Momos ($12) - Comes in 8 pieces. Vegan dumplings filled with tofu, carrots, & cabbage. Also served with the spicy tomato cilantro sauce on top. I love how clean yet tasty this is! Vegetarian Combo ($18) - Comes with 4 vegetarian momos and one veggie side served on top of fragrant basmati rice. For the sides, I love the Baigun Bharta, a tomato-based braised eggplant. It's saucey and pairs extremely well with the rice. The only reason I'd dock off half a star for this combo is the price. You can also mix and match the momos. For a more balanced meal, I request half chicken and half vegetarian ($14). Bini's also has a stand outside the Ferry Building every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. I'd like to give a shoutout to the Bini's servers at the Ferry Building - they're very generous & usually give me 9 pieces of momos whenever I ask for half chicken and half vegetarian (usually 4 chicken & 5 vegetarian).

Self-important suits come to the FiDi trucks, and for heaven's sake, don't talk to them because they are too busy multi-tasking on their smartphones. And yes, I'm talking about women as much as men. They represent an equal-opportunity species of smug entitlement. Such is the case whenever I see this familiar navy blue Indian food truck parked on California at lunchtime during the week (photo: http://bit.ly/1QJi5Ln). The menu is surprisingly diverse for a food truck given the space constraints. I had the $10 Vegetarian Combo, which provides three veggie dishes, dal, rice and naan. The veggie dishes that day were Chana Masala (savory chick peas), Okra Bhaji (fried and curried okra) and boiled carrots from Riverdog Farms (photo: http://bit.ly/1MxBtY7). The okra was the best of the bunch with a spicy edge that cut through the sauce. I like how the owner makes a special point of using organic ingredients in his various stews. There was plenty of basmati rice to sop it up though the naan was a bit skimpy crumbled in the aluminium foil. It all came in an easily transportable covered tray that allowed me to avoid the suits. Ah, the suits. I like to call their platters "homemade meals prepared by a loving grandmother." Trust me, I spent a summer in New Delhi and ate a lot of home cooked meals by my host, and Munch manages to exceed those standards. Every time I come here, I get the Vegetarian Combo for $14. It comes with three different veggie sides - today, there was potato, okra, and chickpeas. (The sides rotate. I've also had eggplant, tomatoes, and zucchini here, though chickpeas seem to be a staple.) I'm not a vegetarian, but if I could eat this every day, I gladly would become one. Tips: - COME HERE FOR LUNCH. DO IT. - Munch India has a twitter account where they post updates - they'll usually post whether they'll be at a particular location, so check the page first (@munchindia) before coming. There are apparently several of these parked around downtown, but my go-to spot is the cart parked right next to the Amazon Go store on California. It's a bit of a walk from my office, but the radiating heat from the cart and aroma of sweet chicken juice makes the trip all the more worth it. I usually get the half chicken with 1/2 brussel sprouts and 1/2 potatoes, because how can you turn down potatoes roasted in chicken fat? This alone is enough to be split into two servings (and/or feed a small family for sure). Such a cool concept and the portions are totally worth it for the price.
