The product is good but WAY overpriced. If you want great authentic Mexican food at a great price go to Chaparitos in West Lafayette. It doesn't have a full bar although it does serve bottled beer. It is family owned and there tacos fajitas burritos and torta and salsa are the best I have ever had. I highly recommend this place. On Wednesdays they have 1.50 tacos. They are completely stuffed with slow stewed meats. Seriously awesome!try there green chilli salsa you won't be disappointed.My wife just waited 20 minutes to get my 1.50 tacos due to the line for carry out! With the wait and dining room although small was completely full with 9 Parties waiting for a table!! If that do any tell you something I don't know what to say. This used to be one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the Greater Lafayette area and I've eaten there for years. They have now changed their salsa bowls to the smallest containers I have ever seen salsa come in. It's about the size of a cup you get for salad dressing or tarter sauce at other restaurants. I like a lot of salsa with my chips, so I asked for another cup of salsa which they brought. I ordered a full meal in addition to the chips and salsa that are provided and I was shocked to see a $2.49 charge on my bill for "Extra Salsa" and that container was no larger than the first. Really? $2.49 for another tiny cup of salsa? That's ridiculous. Until I hear that this is no longer the case, I don't plan to return. read more

At last delicious Mexican food! You know it must be good when there are Mexicans dining there too. When you walk in you feel transported to a festive, outdoor experience as the room is filled with live, flourishing plants and upbeat music. There are also 6 t.v. screens playing mostly NFL when we went. They're friendly but busy, so expect to sit for a while enjoying the bottomless chips and salsa. If you're getting tacos, you have to try their cabeza because it's so good! Anything with shrimp has generous amounts, so if you enjoy seafood order something with shrimp in it. I recently became a pescatarian, and most taco places (at least from what I've seen here in town) have limited seafood and vegetarian options. These guys don't have a lot of options in this department either, but they have a fish taco, shrimp taco and a vegetarian (eggplant) taco. The seafood taco's were really good, but nothing to write home about. However, the veg taco was delicious; seasoned beautifully and a scrumptious eat. We were very pleasantly surprised. They do curbside which is what we opted for. The restaurant itself was kind of crowded (Saturday afternoon) and not many of the patrons had face coverings. I can't say for certain that social distancing was in place (it didn't look like it?). All the employees had masks on and hand sanitizer was available at the entrance. The ladies restroom is not in great shape - the doors of both stalls had non-functioning locks and I had to use the bin to prop the door closed. Would I go back? Yes - for the veg taco's, but we will most likely stick to curbside pickup for the foreseeable future. read more

Visited Senor Tacos for the first time today. Originally, I thought it was more of a To-Go type of fast food-type of place. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a sit down restaurant with beer/wine/margaritas. The decor is the tried and true "Mexican restaurant in a box" furniture. We thought that being a Tuesday there may be some sort of Taco Tuesday deals. There are none The tacos are only $2.49 so it was kind of a deal. They tacos are filled full. The beef was the best of the 3 that I had. The Chicken and the Steak were tasty, but dry. To get shredded cheese on your taco is an extra 10 cents. The unlimited chips salsa were good. They did not have Ala Carte quesadillas which is what I get at El Rodeo, Lindo Mexico and El Meson. I do not eat refried beans or rice or Guac or really any of the sides so a chicken and cheese quesadilla is usually what I have. Overall, the experience was decent. Second visit was today. Service was ok. Tried their Arroz con pollo and it was pretty bad. I love cheese but this was too much. The chicken pieces where a bit tough and some were hard cubes. Some bits had the days-old leftover in the fridge too long chicken taste. I love pan-fried/grilled flour tortillas but these were a bit chewy. The tacos i had during the previous visit were pretty solid. Only gripe would have been that the chorizo taco had some bits that were charred black. Not the worst thing but i can do without them. Señor Tacos is always a solid choice. You get massive amounts of food for the price and in town I would say it's one of the top 5 Mexican restaurants. The staff is exceptionally friendly and they always go out of their way to make sure that you have everything you need. Recently I have been using their pick up service more than anything and the quality is still just as good. Call it in and it's ready 15-20 minutes later at the most. The only real challengers I've experienced recently is the phone line is often busy so it requires multiple calls. I suppose that speaks to their popularity though. If you're on the south side of town and need a big lunch for a low price, you're really not going to find a better place. I'd suggest the al pastor burrito covered in queso... it will feed a family of 4 (not really, but you get my point). read more

Yum! First time here and I just did to-go, but I was shocked at how well done the inside is!! I had no idea they offered dine in. I did shrimp tacos and Arroz con pollo. The food here is fantastic. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to get my food, and the waiters and waitresses are always very friendly and attentive. Even if they're busy, they're constantly cleaning tables to open up a spot for you. I think they put some sort of lime salt on the chips so they're absolutely delicious, my favorite in all of Lafayette. I keep it simple and get Tacos Azada on corn tortillas with cilantro and onion and it has never once let me down. It is 100% worth the 25 minute drive every week! read more

Even after waiting a while (delivery did not knock and just left at door, so I did not know they had arrived) it was still fresh and tasty! The tostada was delicious! Still crisp after sitting. Chicken was diced, which was not what I expected, but it was good. Toppings were tasty and so were the beans. I ordered a ground beef taco and added lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. Very stuffed and still crispy, not at all soggy. Tasty addition to the meal. Last, I had to order real tacos. Corn tortillas (doubled) with steak and one carnitas. I got red and green sauce. Both sauces are spicy, delicious, and fresh. Lime is a must! I have not had the steak yet- way too full, but the carnitas were plentiful and on point. Happy with this place and I will order again! Once you get over the awkwardness of standing at the entrance staring at people to guess how long your wait will be by how close they are done to eating so you can snag their table, it's worth it for the food. It only took about 15 minutes on a Friday night at 5:45 to get a clean table. Out drink orders were quickly asked and brought to us. We needed a few minutes to peruse the menu as we'd never been. My husband got the burrito that is smothered in queso blanco and I got 3 tacos so I could see which meats I like. The lengua was excellent, pollo was my second favorite and I probably won't get the carnitas again. We shared the fiesta nachos and they're great too. A full size was more than we could eat before our food arrived. The tacos are so full of meat you can barely wrap the tortilla around it. Will definitely eat there again. Be aware they don't have Dr. Pepper or Mr. Pibb, my husband ended up with root beer instead. I had the horchata and it was great. read more

I've only ever done take out. They're really quick and conveniently located near where I live so it's been my go-to pick up. The staff is friendly! It's been a hit or miss with the steak taco salad. I had it once and it was really good and on a different occasion it was filled with old lettuce and barely any meat. The steak tacos are good. They overload the tacos with meat. You can use the second tortilla and make another taco out of what they give you! The steak was seasoned well and there was plenty of onions and cilantro just how I like it! I've also had the steak torta. The bread could be better. It's kind of chewy, but other than that it's above average. Overall this is a pretty decent place and it's convenient in a good location, so that's why I'd rate it pretty high. If I wanted better Mexican food and I had time to sit down, I'd probably visit a different restaurant to be honest. read more

Although I came in early, just after lunch, the service and food was great. I had 3 different tacos to try them out. I wasn't disappointed. The waiter gave me plenty of advice which helped. She also got a Sope which was also good. beans were flavorful, rice was not dry. I got the Molcajete which was amazing. A giant bubbling lava stone full of delight. It included Shrimp, Chicken, Steak, Roasted Pork, Chorizo, Nopales, avocado, grilled onions and jalapeño, and a couple big chunks of cheese in a rich, savory, slightly spicy sauce. It was topped with fresh onions, cilantro and more cheese. It came with some tortillas on the side and was $15.99. Which felt like a bargain based on the amount and quality of the food. New restaurant with all new decor. Very nice. Not huge - only about 16 tables, with seating for about 70. They have a kitchen/cashier area in the back that is sort of reminiscent of a walk-up ordering window. In addition, the sign at the front said to seat ourselves. With all that, I was wondering if we were supposed to order and then sit down. But soon enough a waitress appeared and took our drink order. The chips were very good, salsa just ok. More picante-style than chunky style. Kids liked it, I did not. Pretty bland. We also shared a side of guacamole, which was very creamy, but very good. 9/10 on that item. My children all had sides of rice & beans. They didn't mind the rice, no one liked the beans. They were much thicker than the usual beans at a real Mexican place. Almost like the canned La Preferida refried beans we get at home. I ordered the Molcajete. A molcajete is a volcanic-stone bowl that is served hot and filled with food. In this case, shrimp, steak, pork, chicken, cactus, cheese, salsa, cheese, jalapeno, cheese, chorizo, scallions, avocado & cilantro. And cheese. Comes with 4-5 corn tortillas. Let me say, this thing was outstanding. I ordered it for lunch, so couldn't finish it, but I came close. Very, very cool dish. Never even seen it before and loved it. Prices are fair. It was great. They recommended the burritos. The group that left the table we were taking said they loved it and were very impressed. Because there are SO many authentic Mexican restaurants in town it can makes for some pretty steep competition to gain return customers. Our family loves Mexican style tacos, so we felt like checking the new place out. We walked out feeling pretty underwhelmed. It's affordable, food was fine, and service was good but there was nothing that stood out or would make us want to return. The chips & salsa were good, their guacamole was decent, and the tacos were fine. We tried the chicken, shrimp, carnitas, and al pastor tacos with cilantro/onion. They do bring out complimentary hot sauces and likes, which did help as the meat had no real flavor (other than the al pastor). Their kids menu was limited and offered no Mexican style cuisine. We want our little girl to try different cultures food, so it forced us to order off their main menu-thankfully the portion of their quesadilla was small! Nothing negative to say about this new place, but there are so many other choices that have more to offer. I wish this Business luck, and maybe after working some kinks out they will get better! In the meantime, I'll be getting my tacos from El Chicano. read more
