How lucky are we to have this fabulous family owned business near our home!…read moreOur first project with them was to recover all our dining room chairs. We brought photos of the room, the rug, etc...and they were so helpful in choosing a fabric that brightened up the room! Our second recent project was an 1800's Victorian Corner Chair that was in the attic for years. I emailed Barry photos and he emailed right back with suggestions (to not refinish the wood as to keep the original patina) and a quote. We brought in the chair and Toni brought out various samples to choose from. The orignial silk was a teal/blue and she assisted us in finding a beautiful fabric. The chair was polished and looks just gorgeous. This family has the knowledge, the eye and the professionalism you need! And they are very responsive and super friendly. Before and after photos of both projects are below. BTW the photos don't do them justice. We are anticipating another project...soon! Thank you to Barry, Toni and the entire family!

But, the deal was great, and everything else was in nice shape. I tried to fix the drawers, with no expertise on my part, but the fix only lasted a few months. So, I sought professionals to do the fix right. Furniture Techs was the best pre-appointment service, and when I got their quote at our appraisal appointment, I immediately hired them. Their prices are far below the inflated prices of some competitors in an admittedly specialized service market, and the previous reviews here on Yelp made me confident that I would get service. The confidence bore fruit. I got excellent service. He showed up on time. He was eminently professional, and he did his work quicker than I expected. And my dresser drawers slide better than new! That he guarantees his work for 1 year is like a second layer of icing on a cupcake: a wonderful surprise that makes it all the better. Now, while I do not hope I often have need of furniture repair, I know now to whom I'm going when I indeed need such work again.

(Re-tied the springs, re-glued the wood frame, *and* reupholstered it!) I was looking for true craftsmen (craftspeople?) that would appreciate and uphold the artistry of the original piece, and I found that in Upholstery on Broadway. (See photos for the transformation.) They are (unsurprisingly) not the cheapest, but I thought their price was reasonable, they stuck to their quote, and their work is absolutely worth the cost. And Kevin delivered the couch when they were done. I could not be more pleased!

Who knew that furniture disassembly and reassembly was a thing? I certainly didn't until I treated…read moremyself to an extra cozy Boston Interiors sectional and the sofa portion wouldn't fit up my front or back staircase. Whoops! I had already been waiting two months for delivery, so to say I was disappointed is an understatement. Then the panic kicked in. Since it was a custom sectional, I would get majorly dinged if I returned it. But what other options were there? That's where Melo and Sons came in. The delivery guy put me on the phone with his manager to talk it over. Yes, returning the sectional was an option, as was taking out my dining room window to bring the sofa portion in that way (hell no!) Or... I could have some pros disassemble it at their warehouse then reassemble it in my living room. Of my three options, the third was the winner by a longshot. As I was the first delivery of the day, I patiently waited until Melo and Sons opened then gave them a ring. Joanne immediately answered and put my nerves at ease. It was obvious I wasn't the first numpty to purchase a too big piece of furniture that needed saving by them. After providing her all the requested information, I had a delivery date for about three weeks out. By the time my Boston Interiors salesperson called to discuss the failed delivery, everything was already tucked and tied with Melo and Sons. When the big day finally arrived, Mike and George showed up right on time and quickly got to work. They laid down moving blankets to protect the floor then brought up the disassembled sofa in several carefully wrapped pieces. Aside from being the consummate professionals, they were funny to boot. It took them less than two hours to reassemble the sofa and at long last reunite it with its other half. That evening, after three long months, I finally got to relax on and enjoy my sectional in its full glory. All thanks to Melo and Sons and their niche specialty.

We had an ENORMOUS and very high quality 3-piece sectional to move up a steep, winding, narrow staircase--the passage to access the stairwell was 25 inches wide with the door removed, to give you some idea. I gave Steve a call, and he and his partner showed up the next day. They worked nonstop for four hours, disassembling each part of the sofa, carrying it upstairs, then reassembling it. When they were done, I couldn't tell the sofa had ever been disassembled--it still looked beautiful and was just as sturdy. Pricing was very fair, especially considering the high level of expertise required to do the job and how physically intense/difficult it was--Steve gave me the estimate over the phone ahead of time and stuck to it.
