For context, this is the second time me and my partner have been to the store. The first time we…read morewent, one of the employees acted very bothered every time we asked for help, whether it was finding items, asking for lengths of fabric, or changing our minds about the items we were still considering. We decided to ignore it, and went again about a month later. We were looking for materials to make monster hunter leather armor. We had found the perfect leather, and were told to put it aside until we were finished shopping by another employee. It was left on a side table at the back, after being explicitly told that we had access to it. We came back after half an hour of shopping, and the same employee who set it aside was selling it to another person. When confronted, both employees doubled down and told us that we were wrong, and that they were going to sell it to another customer. We repeated what they had told us originally, but they kept insisting that we had not communicated at all. The other customer also became upset and left without buying any leather due to their behaviour. One of them proceeded to tell me "Ninety Six dollars" per square meter, when they had said eight dollars to the other customer. When we went to pay, we explained to the employee our concerns, and why we ended up not buying anything. He again became very argumentative, calling us liars, and then simply refusing to engage in any conversation, however helpful or constructive it may have been. Overall, I would never recommend this store, which is unfortunate due to their wide variety of fabrics.

When I inquired about my missing items at the Shawnessy store, the store associate actually raised her had to stop me from speaking, then demanded I empty my bag so she could see that I wasn't hiding the item. Another occasion, the store manager demanded to see the email from Michael's showing items were ready for pu up and when I showed a text version, she refused to accept it and demanded the original. When I explained that it was identical and that I didn't have the email on my phone, she said there was nothing she could do and walked away. I left feedback with the Customer Care line and received a call from the district manager for Calgary and Manitoba. I missed the call but returned her message within 2 hours. After 2 days of not hearing from her, I sent an email to her. I received a response after 2 days after that telling me that if " i wanted to connect with her, I could contact her during a few windows when she was free": The onus is not on me to chase her down, she stated in her initial phone message to me that she would " like to make it right". Ignoring me, then finally telling me to work around her availability is not making it right. Clearly, the poor service culture at Michaels does not fall far from the management tree. There is a reason why online companies like Temu offering similar products for a fraction of the price of Michael's are doing booming business. This type of shoddy customer disservice should not be rewarded by giving them business. See less

When driver called out did not show he looked up again the AMA number and allowed my use of his store cell again for 20 mins! And he wanted me to use a chair from inside! Online shopping is also available and they are very quick in their turn around times and will reach out to you with any concerns, should they arise. I have always found them to be friendly and knowledgeable when I needed, or wished, a consultation. Prices are reasonable and on par with other stores in the city. I am an avid and experienced quilter and I would have no problem recommending this store to anyone.

She was helpful, efficient, kind and even offered me a discount on my purchases because they didn't have the quantity that I needed. I arrived almost at closing hours but did not feel rushed or judged. The store was clean and well organized. I was able to get in quickly and got everything I needed for my art project the next day. Whew!
