Took my expensive embroidery machine to them during the pandemic when the Husqvarna dealer wasn't open...they lied and told me they were a certified repair place...had my machine for 9 months! When I took it to them it worked...the only thing that was broken was the reverse! Picked it up today because they claim they couldn't get the parts to repair it! Took it to the Husqvarna dealer who tried to test the machine...right in front of me and the machine turns on but the screen is blank and it won't work at all! I called them and I asked what did they do while they had it for 9 months...the first person I spoke with said, "Well it sat for nine months and a lot can happen when a machine sits that long"...lol dumbest thing I have ever heard! When I disagreed she said let me get the owner for you. Soooo...owner with an attitude answers the phone... I ask him to tell me what exactly they did while they had my machine for 9 months because it worked when I brought it in but now it does not...he said he would have to talk to the technician next week. Then He said that possibly the machine shorted out when they opened it which would explain why it doesn't work! If that's a risk...shouldn't you let me know that is a possibility? I could have waited and taken it to Husqvarna when they opened or could have continued using it only wouldn't be able to back stitch. Then when I told him I wanted my money back he started YELLING at me saying I brought them a defective machine and now I m trying to blame them for it not working! Then he (still yelling) told me people claim this all the time, lady! "Do you really want to go there, let's go there!" I wonder why they claim this? -- that you break their machines...CAUSE YOU DO BREAK THEIR MACHINES! I have spent ALOT of money in that store... but I WILL NEVER STEP IN THERE AGAIN! WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! Then I posted a review on their Facebook page and they replied...in the middle of reading the reply which was extremely offensive it disappeared...they have blocked me from their response!

I loved it because the store was a wall of buttons!!! It looked like jewels all over the walls. It was a fond memory that I shared with one off the staff who remembered the store. All in all, the store itself had the most incredible fabric I've seen in a very long time. It it now on my list of favorites. Please visit if you are in need of a showstopper garment. I wanted to continue supporting it for that reason and for its sense of community, but my experiences have been consistently disappointing. Yesterday was my final straw. I am new to sewing and come in seeking guidance on fabric selection and product education, yet nearly every visit is met with dismissive or rude customer service. The older representatives in particular often do not greet me and respond reluctantly or faintly when I ask for assistance. Help is provided, but it often feels like an inconvenience unless they are in the mood. Yesterday, when I asked a representative at the fabric counter for help understanding a product, she was short-tempered and instead told me they were closing at 5:15 p.m., despite the website listing a 7:30 p.m. closing time. The interaction felt rushed, dismissive, and disrespectful. At checkout, I asked for a bag for several small tools and fabric. The cashier said they were running low, and etc and tossed the bag at me. This type of behavior has happened on multiple visits and consistently dampens the experience. I truly wanted to like this store, but the repeated lack of basic courtesy--especially toward newer customers--has made me unwilling to return. I hope management takes these ongoing customer service issues seriously.

They've been in business for over 80 years, and their deep sewing knowledge really sets them apart from other stores. Most employees have been here for years--some for decades--which truly shows their dedication and love for what they do. Even the store owners are very dedicated; you'll often see them on the floor greeting customers, which shows how much they care. Courtney is super helpful and really knows pattern making, Linda has been part of G Street for decades, and Leo is incredibly knowledgeable and always willing to help. You'll soon know everyone by name because they naturally become your sewing-expertise coaches. I even call them the fabric whisperers because they always seem to know exactly what you need. I bought my sewing machine here with Esther's help--she is so kind and genuinely wants you to succeed long after your purchase. They also offer upholstery services and sewing-machine repairs--both of which have saved me more than once. And I have to give a special shout-out to Lew, the sewing tech. He's the absolute best and always knows exactly how to fix any issue. I can't recommend G Street enough. It's a must-visit for anyone who sews, creates, or simply loves beautiful materials.

Yes, totally out of the way but worth it as I wanted to visit some new-to-me states along the way. Anyway, I found Domesticity through an internet search as I was researching potential stops on my roadtrip. It turns out there is also an epic, multi-state, shop hop going on as well and Domesticity is part of it! Of course I bought the corresponding magazine and my original road trip plans quickly pivoted to visiting many more quilt shops than I originally intended. Anyway, enough about me - more about Domesticity: It is such a lovely shop in a nice neighborhood in Baltimore, Maryland. I would have checked out additional shops in the area but golly was it HOT! Domesticity offers a variety of fabrics including Ruby Star Society (my favorite), many many many others, and of course notions as well. The upstairs is also beautiful and I believe that is where some classes take place? I wish I took more pictures! Regardless, I will forever be indebted to the wonderful ladies at Domesticity for very, very patiently helping me pick out fabric for an upcoming quilt retreat I will be attending. I genuinely like the fabrics they helped me select and cannot wait to see how the quilt turns out! The prices were reasonable/comparable to other quilt shops I have visited. If you're in the area, or even if you are not, Domesticity is worth the trip!

First, Google listed the opening time as 10 a.m., but the store did not open until 11. We had driven from Baltimore to get ahead of bad weather, tried calling multiple times, and found the voicemail full. There's no website to confirm hours, so we were left guessing whether to wait. Once inside, we spent nearly two hours selecting eight fabrics for multiple projects. Many fabrics were not priced, and the single employee cutting fabric had to repeatedly walk to the front of the store to ask the owner for pricing or answers to basic questions, which made the process extremely slow. The final issue was a large-print fabric that had deep slashes running several yards into the roll, along with visible black marks. I asked that the damaged portion be cut off or that cutting begin from the other end of the roll. The owner refused and told me that if I didn't like it, I didn't have to buy it, stating multiple times that they are a "for profit store." I have over 50 years of experience buying fabric and have never been expected to pay for clearly damaged yardage. We ultimately walked out without purchasing anything, leaving eight rolls at the cutting table--well over $1,000 in sales lost. It's disappointing to see how much this store has changed. It was once staffed by knowledgeable, helpful people who wanted to assist customers. I won't be returning.
