Decided to give Fancy Pants Tailor a shot since their website said they specialized in formalwear. Right up my alley of needs. Michelle was prompt in responding to my query on their website and setting up an appointment, and I can't tell you how convenient it is for them to come to me instead of my having to hunt through The Woodlands for a shop (inevitably hidden behind trees, being The Woodlands). Michelle and her mom arrived promptly for the appointment, bringing along everything necessary to get me measured and fitted in the dress I needed altered. They were very friendly and professional and also extremely helpful in making sure I was wearing the underthings/heels I wanted with the dress so it would fit perfectly. They also explained exactly what needed to be taken up (hemmed, obviously, as I am five foot short) and taken in (the bust/shoulders). They also gave me options for how I wanted the top taken in: a quick fix that would be cheaper or a more precise fit (involving recutting the armholes and realigning the entire top and back) which would cost more. I picked the more expensive option because I wanted to alter the dress to fit from now onward, and not just for a one-time wear. I felt the prices were reasonable for their work -- and when I got the dress delivered back (another perk!), the worksmanship was great -- and the timeline reasonable. To be fair, I wasn't in a rush. The dress took about 9 days total, but anything with more delicate fabric or more work to be done may take longer. Of course, simpler things may also take less time. They will give you a timeline at the appointment and I'm sure you can discuss with them if your needs are different. Great work, very friendly, and very convenient. I'll definitely be using Fancy Pants Tailor coming forward. (Also, you gotta admit it: a great name.)

We only needed Kim to shorten the dress because it was too long. She made it WAY too small, and she moved the bustle to the center of her butt. and she moved her belt to under her boobs instead of her waist. Makes no sense at all, the dress is pretty much trash at this point. Kim was paid in full and NEVER OFFERED A REFUND!

As someone who sews myself, I knew this was a repair beyond my comfort level. I carefully marked the adjustment with pins to show exactly where the alteration was needed. They did an amazing job--no one would ever know the zipper had been altered. The work was seamless and expertly done. Anyone who thinks the service is overpriced may not fully appreciate the skill and craftsmanship that quality tailoring requires. I needed a wedding dress cleaned,…read morepressed and steamed before it could be worn, as the person altering it had pricked a finger while pinning it. Polo Tailors and Cleaners did a beautiful job removing the blood stains and steaming out the old seam lines, as well as ironing out wrinkles in the dress. Also, they charged me a reasonable price, less than I was quoted at other reputable spots. As soon as we were home from the Hill Country wedding, I came back to entrust the post-wedding cleaning to Hoa at Polo Tailors and Cleaners. The wedding day had been drizzly, and the hem and train of the dress were muddy. Hoa, who had helped me so well the first time, got out the mud stains. She also declined to charge me extra for the mud stains. I have not yet had a chance to use their services for alterations, but I was able to watch them measure another client who wanted to have a suit taken in. Hoa did an expert job of marking up his suit.

I had actually visited on Good Friday and they were closed. I live in Katy and it was a 30 minute drive. I asked to use the restroom and was refused, despite being a paying customer. The staff showed no understanding or willingness to help, which made the experience feel unwelcoming and disrespectful. I understand that stores may have policies, but customers should be treated with basic courtesy--especially when making a reasonable request.
