I live in Fountain City and wanted support a local business so when my $480 Dyson Animal 2 vacuum…read moreclearer (about 3 years old) brush bar stopped working, I chose to give this shop my potential repair business. When I walked in, I explained the problem and the repair person didn't even look at the machine, other than to identify the model number and disappear to the back office. When he returned, he stated that the entire portion of the machine that contained the brush bar would need to be replaced and that would be $130. He further advised that it had to be paid in advance. But he then commenced to say that the part was on backorder and would probably would not be shipped for at least 6 months, and probably a year. Mind you, he had never plugged my machine in and never inspected the malfunctioning brush bar so see if the problem was just accumulated hair or debris. (I knew that was not the problem because I had thoroughly disassembled the unit and cleaned it earlier that day.) While I knew that was not the problem, he could not have known that. He never asked me what I had attempted or made any attempt to inspect it for a simple fix. As a result, I would rate his repair diagnostic skills as ZERO. His entire focus was to tell me that Dyson would not make any repair parts available to anyone, including repair shops like his. "You can't get repair parts" He also made derogatory remarks about Shark vacuums and said that would never provide any parts for repairs on their machines as well. That led us to a discussion about the few models he had for sale, which started at $699 and went us to $1,499. In short, his machines were great and much better that the Dyson, Shark and any other vacuum sold any of the "big box" stores..... Pretty standard sales pitch with plenty of superlatives about what he had to sell, while trashing any other machine. I told him I needed to do some research before would agree to buy a new machine and left with my broken machine. When I got home, I googled "Parts available for [my particular machine] and found the exact part he indicated I needed was offered for sale from various sellers at prices ranging from $59, $81, $111. All offered turnround time of about 10 days with free returns in 30 days of dissatisfied. I also checked about parts for Shark vacuum's and found multiple sites that sold their repair parts. In the end, I spent around $100 for a new OEM Part for my exact machine after 10 minutes of internet searching. The part merely snaps onto the balance of the machine with a small clip that literally takes 10 seconds to attach. I will have it in 10 days, not six months and I will be left with hundreds of dollars in my pockets that he would have gladly taken. Everything I discovered that the repair person said about parts availability was wrong. He made no effort to diagnose my problem and said whatever he could to have me buy one of his machines, and despite his attempt make me feel bad about shopping at Lowes, Walmart or Target. I found that his recommended machines were also available at the "big box stores" that he was sneering about. Very disappointed at the service, the misrepresentations and attempts to get me to buy whatever he had to sell, there was no attempt to "repair" what I already owned. For those reasons, I give this store a one-star review and would advise you to check out one of the several other vacuum repair shops around the town. Note that this store primarily sees sewing machine, and I have not comment on the quality of that side of the operation. Read other reviews for those services November 1, 2025

We ordered a gas cooktop, wall oven, and a dishwasher. We tried to find an installer who could work with gas. We finally found Jeff at Appliance Service and Installation. After I told him about the appliances, he wanted to come and look everything over. Little did we know how appliances have changed in those years! Wall ovens now require their own built-in wall cabinet and they no longer fit in the existing base cabinet! They are 2" deeper. Jeff told us that he would have to move the existing gas line so that the oven could fit in the same space. Our old dishwasher used to be hard-wired. Now it came with a plug so we had to install a new plug. So, this was going to be quite a job. Jeff is VERY knowledgeable and professional and he explained how he would proceed with the job. He told us how much he charges (he works by the hour) and our job took him nearly 7 hours (he told us it would take this long). It was WORTH it!!!!!! We are confident that the electrical works, everything was done correctly and safely. The new gas line was installed with a new regulator. All the appliances are working correctly and smoothly. What a relief! Jeff is also very respectful of your house. He worked very cleanly! He even swept up after he finished! In the end, I believe you get what you pay for. I would NOT hesitate to have Jeff come and work on any appliance that we have.
