I got my Lucy from Seventh Heaven Rescue, and she is now our family's first baby and a wonderful older fur sister to her little brother. It has been so nice to bring her to the myriad of amazing events Seventh Heaven puts on throughout the year, and Jana and Steve always greet us with a huge smile and call Lucy by name. It is clear that every dog they take into their rescue gets meaningful care, attention and proper placement. Lucy was perfectly placed with us when we initially put in an application to adopt (application went in for a different puppy initially, but Lucy was deemed the best fit by the dog rescue experts, and thank goodness for their expertise). Fast forward to about a year ago, in my line of work I came across a dog in a very bad situation that I had to do an immediate rescue at that moment. With already having 1 dog and having a toddler running around, we could not permanently take in another dog, but I knew something had to be done. Within less than 12 hours, I was on the phone with Seventh Heaven making plans to save this dog's life from a future of illness, starvation and abandonment. Within less than 24 hours of me rescuing this dog from a horrific situation, Seventh Heaven was able to administer appropriate medications, clean, check and get appropriate food for this dog - all at the expense of the rescue. Seventh Heaven was able to foster and rehome this dog quickly- saving this dog's life. The work they do is immeasurable, selfless and above and beyond. I'm so happy and proud to be affiliated with this rescue, and I recommend them at every turn. Saving one dog will not change the world, but for that one dog, their world will change forever. So my PSD service dog passed after 16 1/2 years together. I didn't know how to replace him. I still had a neighborhood rescue (not at all up to the task) and my daughter who lives with me also had a dog. My daughter happened to work with one of 7th Heaven's foster parents. He showed us the puppy he fostered and I thought he would grow too big for me but I started the process for adoption anyway. There definitely is a LOT to the vetting process!! We did NOT get the dog Then I kept in contact and really tried for a different dog. I tried to get a meet and greet with our dogs and THAT didn't happen either. I did pass all the investigation process but was late to the game. I kept in contact with Michelle as I wanted a small poodle mix. We had many conversations about what I needed in a dog. She really was invested in getting me the RIGHT dog. And , it takes time!! She said there was a dog coming that might be perfect. When 2 poodle mixes were rescued from an Ohio puppy mill in terrible shape, we had a meet and greet with our dogs and the 1 1/2 year old boy Reese. His foster mom Dawn did a great job cleaning him up and lovin on him. He was very skiddish and afraid of everything but he let me pick him up AND massage his feet!!! As I held him close he leaned his head into me and actually started to fall asleep!!! I knew then he was mine and it was meant to be Now he is my Mowgli and after training he is my PSD. My advice is to start the process and be patient. Talk to Seventh Heaven so they know what you need in a dog. A dog or puppy is a big responsibility not to be taken lightly. This agency does such a disservice to the animals it's trying to rehome. I cannot say anything negative about the volunteers, they are truly wonderful but the process they have to put applicants through is a nightmare. We live on a somewhat busy road but have a fenced side yard and it was clear that's what caused us to not be able to bring a dog into our loving home. The disappoint of being turned away was difficult on our children so we ended up getting a dog that is living her best life! It's a shame that we weren't given that chance to adopt a dog in need like the one we put in an application for. Even with applicants in, this agency still was bringing the dog we wanted to adopt to events to get more applicants. It's never good enough, it seems. At least that's the vibe our family got from this agency. The committee that decided who gets the dog had never even met us and only knew us on paper. I just wouldn't recommend this agency due to the nature of its process. Everyone I know that has adopted a rescue couldn't believe the process and the fact that we didn't get chosen. I promised I wouldn't do this but I need to let others know how difficult it is to go through seventh heaven. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about Seventh Heaven Rescue! This organization truly goes above and beyond to care for their dogs and match them with the right families. I adopted both of my boys, Tank and Diesel, through them, and it was the best decision I've ever made. From the very beginning, the volunteers were kind, patient, and incredibly supportive. They took the time to answer every question, made sure the dogs were healthy and well cared for, and guided me through the entire adoption process. It was clear to me that their top priority is always the well-being of the animals. Both of my dogs came from Seventh Heaven with so much love already poured into them, and I will forever be grateful for that. We received our latest rescue from Seventh Heaven on August 2, 2025. I appreciate the thorough process they go through to find good homes for each rescue. They contact your Veterinarian, do reference checks, do home visits, and do meets with current dogs, if you have any, to make sure they'll get along. They make sure that you take care of your current animals and that you have a good environment for the dog you want to adopt. In our case, the meet and greet didn't go so well at their facility because our current dog was so nervous. They didn't give up on us, though. They said that sometimes dogs are completely different in their own environment. They came to our house and did a meet and greet on our dogs turf. It worked out perfectly. Turns out that Seventh Heaven knows what they are doing. They know dogs! We've had our new rescue, Bindi, for almost 5 weeks and she's doing well. In the future, when we're ready for another dog, Seventh Heaven is where we'll go. read more

Application process is lengthy - it's also impossible to adopt a dog here. I was blacklisted even after I had several volunteers tell me my family would be a wonderful fit. All because I give my puppy CBD oil due to undiagnosed stomach issues. (I've spent THOUSANDS on tests) They put on my application that I give him this to calm his puppy tendencies - which I never said and is absolutely not true. They said they would reopen my case after I explained WHY my dog is given this and still got denied. The people who run this need to brush up on OTC remedies - CBD doesn't get anyone high - THC does. Unprofessional, uneducated and unwilling to give these dogs to good homes. The dog we applied for is STILL on the website, and the poor thing has been on there for weeks (that I've noticed). If you want to make sure that you are well matched with a dog that is well matched with you, not simply a dog that you think looks great in a picture, Seventh Heaven Rescue is AWESOME! I love this place because they are authentic and realistic about compatible pet placement. They have a rigorous process that ensures happiness for both people and dogs. We adopted a special needs dog that was supposed to be a hospice situation. We are thus far blessed to have her for almost 3 years! They thoroughly screened us to make sure we were up to caring for a terminally ill dog with an unsure future. They went the extra mile to make sure that we were all on the same page and that my sweet doggie would never have to be rehomed because I didn't know what came along with a traumatized and ill dog. I have adopted a couple of dogs thru this rescue, and they really want the best for each dog. Each volunteer goes above and beyond to help where possible. They ask the important questions at the start of the process as they need to understand your home and lifestyle to help with placing a dog that fits your family. As each rescue in this area, they validate your vet records to make sure that the current pets are able to get the medical care they need along with the vital vaccines. They also verify that your current pets are spayed or neutered. They require a home visit which helps with placing the right dog in your home. I found the steps, quick and seamless, and had no issues with anyone I dealt with. I love my rescues and thank them for bringing them into my life. read more

Seventh Heaven is a great rescue! I've adopted from them twice now and it's been a great experience from the beginning! The dogs I've adopted from them have been the best dogs, not that they can control that given what some dogs come from, but their process is obviously done with the best in mind for the dogs. Their events are frequent and fun and the community they have built from them is strong and ever-growing, which is a testament to their care and integrity for the animals they care for. They don't turn any dog in need away and go above and beyond for each deserving soul they help. That can't be overstated. I have adopted 2 dogs thru this rescue, they helped me with one of my current dogs that we saved off Craigslist and I also am a foster for this rescue. The application process is detailed and that is to help the dogs, they want to make sure that the dog is a good fit for your home and that you can take care of it at the same time. I appreciate that they take their time to make sure its a good fit, and they will provide anything you need as a foster parent. As a foster, we are able to help with their placement to also make sure that it is a good fit. They will go above and beyond for any dog in their care from medical to training and everything in-between. They truly care about the dog and that what matters to me. read more

I have been a volunteer for this rescue over 6 years and involved in rescue for 12 years. What I have learned is that, with everything else, NOBODY is perfect and mistakes are made. Why leave a negative review when there are dozens of rescues in the vicinity and hundreds of available dogs? All that does is jeopardize a possible adoption for another dog in need of a home. There is NO mismanagement of funds or prioritization of money over placement. If that was an issue, I would NOT be a volunteer. There is no class action suit currently filed and I would hope people would save their attorney fees for something more important than being denied a dog. read more

Well run by an all volunteer group of people who truly love the dogs and the work. I fostered my dog after a thorough check by the rescue to make sure I was the right person and my home was the right setting for the dog. Seventh Heaven was extremely supportive and always available if I had a question or need. I wound up adopting my dog because I had completely fell in love with her! I highly recommend Seventh Heaven for fostering and/or adopting your next dog. They are a awesome to work with, and always act with the best interest of the dog in mind. This organization is run by a wife/husband team that will not give you a fair assessment when finding a good home for a rescue. A volunteer came to my home to inspect. She wrote a report that put words in our mouths & didn't report the situation accurately. My wife & I were denied for a false reason & not given another chance. Jana, the founder, refused to speak with my wife at an event days after we were denied. I believe that some dogs are finding homes. I am beginning to think they are collecting more in donations than finding homes. There's a class action law suit against them for this reason and I think I will join. read more

This is a rescue I discovered through a link my brother-in-law shared on Facebook I went to many shelters to look at dogs and well this rescue has a much more intense screening than many others they work really hard to match you to the right dog that will really fit your family and your home situation most shelters don't bother checking out your home or require references and while this makes it much easier to adopt a dog it doesn't always mean that it's going to be a good set for you and your family the work that they do probably doesn't totally stop dogs being returned but I'm sure that it cuts it down a lot read more

She's the sweetest dog and it's so awesome to see her grow and adjust to normal life every day. A terrific rescue that truly cares about their dogs. Its a good thing that they fully vet their potential adopters to make sure they go to good homes. Some are posting that the process is insane. Well we went through the process and they are just doing their due diligence to make sure the dogs go to good homes. Maybe the ones giving negative reviews are the ones who are insane. I can't say enough positive things about this rescue. They have a very thorough application process to ensure the best fit for both the dog and family. The process includes references, a home inspection, and an interview. I adopted my best friend, Indy, 5 years ago from them and haven't had any regrets. They have resources so that in the event you need advice, you can inquire with them and peers who have also adopted through them. We adopted our Ruby girl from Seventh Heaven Rescue. She was hit by a car and had two broken back legs and pelvic fractures. If it wasn't for Seventh Heaven she would have been euthanized and not be living the beautiful life that she is now. They had faith in her and gave her a second chance at life. They make sure all the dogs they adopt out go to safe homes and will receive proper vet care as all rescues should.
