The last time I adopted from there was years back, a cat, no offense to the previous administration but the improvements are amazing. They respond very quickly to any questions or request to see a pet after application is done. The kennels are all clean, animals well cared for. The don't leave you hanging for days when you call, ask questions or do application. The front desk ladies are extremely professional and well organized, as good, much better actually than other rescues I have seen. They have you bring in current dog to meet potential adoptee which to me is a GREAT idea, the young man that handled that was extremely knowledgeable and kind. In todays world of so many needy pets, they are the light at the end of the tunnel, wonderful people and amazingly professionally run. The adoption fee is also very fair considering how much it includes, getting a pet already spayed or neutered is a huge plus. I would recommend adopting from them to all who are looking for a furbaby to add to their family, Bravo SPCA!

I contacted Helping hounds dog rescue and filled out an application. Their process is rather simple- fill out the application, provide your veterinarian contact number, and have one reference who knows you call them. Once they approve you, you are free to go and visit all the dogs (protection of the animals i'm assuming and it's a great thing!). The whole process literally took a week. I was able to go to the rescue, tell them which dog(s) i was interested in and they let you walk them and hang out with them before you decide. They even let me "trial" a dog home because I have cats. I feel right in love with my dog who was "Cheers" at the shelter but we renamed her "Ginger". The fee paid (i believe i paid $600) covered all of her vaccinations, neuter, vet visits etc. All of these fees go back into the shelter. I had a phenomenal experience and was matched up perfectly with my dog. I love, love love her and i would highly recommend this rescue if you're looking to give a dog their forever home. The staff were incredibly friendly, kind , and reassuring. They take excellent care of both the dogs and the adopters wanting information. I would highly recommend Helping Hounds Dog rescue!!

The technicians and front desk staff were very nice, but the doctor was dismissive and seemed annoyed when I had questions about my cat's care. What really got me was that he flipped out over her weight (half a pound over the standard) and made me feel stupid for how I was feeding her. He insisted on me bringing her back in a month later to weigh her. I only consented because she needed follow-up shots and a nail trim, so I had to come back anyway. When I came in, they refused to let me come back to the room to observe how they trimmed her nails, making me stay in my car. The reason they gave was that the doctor wanted to close early and my appointment was preventing that (my appointment was two hours before the end of business) - there was no COVID related reason to make me stay out. The doctor was displeased that my cat hadn't lost enough weight to satisfy him and made his tech run messages between us about how I adjusted her food, which was crazy because it was freezing out, and she had no coat on. He then made a follow up appointment for another weigh-in without my consent. I had it at that point, found another vet, and canceled my appointment with him. I'm not going back unless it's an emergency.

When we arrived, there were a wide array of carriers available and we weren't sure which one to buy. One of the store employees went above and beyond to help us find the right carrier, even going online to double check our airline's size regulations and recommending other items that we might need. She also opened up another register to personally cash us out rather than have us wait in line. I was surprised (in a good way) at how much she was willing to help us. The store is apparently being renovated right now, but the dust and dirt is out of control. I worry about the birds and small animals in the store breathing that in 24/7, as well as the employees. The carrier we selected was absolutely covered in dust and dirt, to the point that the employee who helped us got a duster to brush it off for us and it created a huge cloud. Everything we bought from the food and water bowl attachments to the carrier was covered in a layer of dust and dirt. Also, the floor is unsightly and in disrepair. I hope that it's included in the renovation project, because it really needs updating. Even with the renovations in progress, the level of dust and dirt on the merchandise is unacceptable. There needs to be at least one employee dusting and facing the items on the shelves daily. I've worked plenty of retail jobs, and most of my former managers would have flipped out if our merchandise was that dirty, renovations in progress or not. I would shop here again, but not until the renovations are done, the shelves and displays are wiped down, and the merchandise is properly cleaned.

Dog Grooming: Things started out okay with one of the groomers, but it got worse over time. First couple of appointments were fine. Then, on the first bad occasion, the groomer used a shampoo that made my dog's hair fall out in small clumps. When I questioned her, she said that my dog probably had an allergy. Okay, I can understand that might happen. The next appointment, when I returned, my dog's fur had been gouged on her backside by clippers (this was later verified by a groomer at a professional salon). When I asked the groomer what happened, no apology, no explanation, just "It'll grow back." I was not happy and when I questioned the groomer about why it happened, I got no plausible explanation. I left and decided not to return unless absolutely necessary. I do not recommend PetSmart for dog grooming. There's too much staff playtime going on instead of paying close attention to the dogs. Managers are not monitoring the groomers. Sadly, PetSmart could be a top-notch company with great employees, but the people chosen for this location are poor examples of professionalism.

She did so well in fact that they suggested trying to groom her without sedation next which would be amazing. Everyone there seems to really care about the dogs and doesn't just treat it like a chore. I have had bad grooming with my dogs in the past and wish I knew about this place sooner. The owner Jackie groomed my dog and asked lots of questions and really cared and wanted to know how she could make Luna more comfortable.
