It should be noted that this review takes place at the location on 7th street and they have since moved but I feel confident in saying the overall atmosphere and experience will remain the same. I regret I do not have any pictures of the new location on 6th Street but it also is very nice. They went out of their way to make the party area special (which they decorate nicely for an small extra fee) and were helpful in instructing the kids (and adults). They stood by ready to help without being obtrusive or overbearing and were relaxed and fun to talk to. There are different prices of party packages but all include different options of pottery to paint. This party package includes the painting. If you wish to have food you can bring pizza and they have a neat deal with Kaiser's pizza (I'll also review) who will deliver and give you a discount if you're having a party at Alpaca. This is a very cool option if you're looking for something interesting and fun that is outside of standard birthday party venue. They have a small art studio but it's perfect size for what they use it for. I took a stained glass class here and would highly recommend anyone to take it. It's a 4 hour class where you'll get to take home your stain glass masterpiece. They provide all of the materials and every station is prepped. Melanie was a great teacher. She has over 30 years of experience and she's a great teacher because even with all of her experience she does not act like a know it all. I made a stained glass fish and my mom made a chicken. We had a blast and would definitely take more classes.

We opted for the ceramics painting (there were 3 generations in our party), and the selection of ceramic ware they have to choose from is very nice. No old looking, 70s-style outdated stuff -- it was hard to choose -- from bowls, plates, vases, figurines, candle holders, mugs. Also, the selection of paint is very current as well (no primary red-yellow-blue) and the chart was very helpful in imagining what the finished fired piece would look like. We came on a Saturday morning, and there was plenty of bustling activity. Several young people were doing the cream crafts which were all these super cute charms that they were gluing with colored icing (adhesive?) to frames, or mirrors, or jewelry boxes. I might want to do that myself another time. Ruby helped to set us up and explained the paints, how many coats to do, as well as the process to complete and pick up the items (takes a few weeks). We spent a very relaxing morning painting and conversing. You could probably just walk in, but I would suggest making a reservation on a weekend morning. The prices seemed reasonable and we are all looking forward to getting our finished pieces!

I spent an hour in the area and then I called to ask how much more time is left (not to be impatient, but to see what things I could do while waiting) and I was told it would be another 45 minutes. I started doing something else, and 10 minutes later, I was told it was my turn... that was really unfortunate. When I got there, the staff was super nice and helpful! However, I noticed that I wasn't given all the info other customers were getting. They were told about things like the tools to make textures and what not, but I didn't hear about it until halfway through I was done glazing. I wish there better communication. A great spot though for a calming indoor activity.
