No stars. We entered the restaurant and were told to sit anywhere we would like. I had to use the restroom and told my boyfriend that I would like a coffee if the waiter comes over. When I got back to the table, he told me that a waiter went around the whole area filling coffee for all the tables. He said no one came over to ours, and avoided eye contact with him. A couple that came in after us, was greeted served coffee, and ordered before anyone came to our table. We sat there for over ten minutes while the blonde waitress gave us dirty looks and avoided us, doing absolutely nothing but leaning on the bar. Several staff walked back and forth, avoiding our table. Finally, after 15 minutes we left without even being acknowledged. They all should be fired. It wasn't even busy. The owner needs a whole new staff. I'm going to post this on everything.

Irish Benny

Stopped in for breakfast to try the restaurant out. Not very busy but it was later in the morning which could explain it. Only one server on duty so service was a little slow. Table hadn't been cleaned from the last people who used it as there were several sticky spots left behind. Server did wipe down the table when requested. We ordered the Irish Benny (eggs Benedict with hash), and the Seven Seas Special (2 eggs, bacon, home fries, rye toast). Bacon was ordered extra crispy and that how it arrived. Eggs were ordered over medium and they were just runny enough. Irish Benny had the poached eggs cooked perfectly so they ran over the hash and home fries. Hash had great flavor and was nicely fried so there were plenty of 'crusty' pieces which is how I like it. Home fries were nicely cooked with plenty of seasoning. All in all a very good breakfast at a reasonable price.

EPIC 10 STARS!!!!…read more I've lived here for 35 YEARS, and today was my very first visit to Good Friends Cafe. OMG!!! WHERE HAVE I BEEN?! I am the WORLD'S BIGGEST food critic, and hands down, this was one of the BEST breakfasts I have ever had! There was a line out the door, and now I completely understand why. But it wasn't just the food that blew me away. I sat at the bar and watched the staff work, and I was honestly fascinated. They navigated a packed restaurant flawlessly, engaged with everyone, helped one another, and somehow made the whole place feel relaxed and happy. One staff member told me, "We love working here. We don't have a manager--it just all works." And WOW, does it work!!! I own a business that runs pretty smoothly, so I naturally notice systems, staff interaction, customer service, and how a busy operation flows. This place was IMPECCABLE. Everything worked together like a well-oiled machine, yet it never felt mechanical. It felt warm, genuine, fun, and welcoming. The food: AMAZING. The staff: AMAZING. The atmosphere: AMAZING. The operation: AMAZING. I walked in for breakfast and walked out thinking, I WANT TO WORK HERE! One day I would LOVE to waitress here! Good Friends Cafe, you have a new regular. I may be visiting EVERY DAY! It felt like HOME. 10 STARS!!!! Lauren Johnston Harwich Port, MA & Marco Island, FL

Several friends had recommended Good Friends Cafe for breakfast, particularly because we had a…read moregluten-free friend with us, and we were told their gluten-free selection is quite large. All the road work going on MA 28 was also incentive, as we could get there without traveling on it from where we were staying. We were also told several times to get their grilled breads (if you weren't gluten-free, of course). The complimentary coffee in the waiting area was a nice tough as well. It certainly lived up to the recommendations. We had maybe a 3 minute wait for a table on a busy Friday morning. There were lots of specials on the blackboards on the side wall. Coffee came out quickly; it was piping hot and mellow, with very frequent refills. I did try the bread, an apple-cranberry, grilled/toasted medium with a pat of butter for extra yum. I opted for the hash Benedict with fruit instead of potatoes. I got potatoes by mistake anyway, but they immediately brought over the fruit. The eggs were perfectly cooked, the Hollandaise was flavorful, and the hash was crisp and not greasy at all. Now it's my turn to be a good friend and pass the recommendations forward for others.

Both were very friendly and did a great job handling everyone. Menu is printed on the placemat on the table and pretty extensive. Plenty of choices for everyone from breakfast to lunch. We chose the cinnamon french toast, chocolate chip pancakes, home fries, bacon, and a cup of chowder. Given how busy they were the food arrived pretty quickly. Chowder should have arrived first but the server forgot about it and offered to put the pancakes under the heat lamp till I finished the chowder but I decided not to do that as I figured it would ruin the pancakes. The chowder was loaded with plenty of clams and potatoes and had a good flavor to it. The chowder had a light creamy texture which was very nice compared to some of the gloopy chowders you can get. The cinnamon French toast was two large sliced of their home made cinnamon bread coated with a light sugar sauce which enhanced the flavor of the toast. There were plenty of cinnamong swirls in the bread which made it very tasty. The chocolate chip pancakes (2) had a small pile of miniature chocolate chips on top with plenty mixed into the pancakes. The pancakes were light and fluffy and very tasty. The home fries were well fried, as asked for, with plenty of onions mixed in. It was very nice that they were red skinned potatoes so the pieces were small and crispy. The bacon, 3 slices) came well done, again as asked for, and was super crispy and tasted like applewood smoked bacon. Ordered a slice of their forest berry pie to go and then forgot it! But I know it was going to be great because it looked fantastic. Didn't go back for it as we remebered it about an hour after we left and they would have been closed by then. Seating is comfortable with a combination of tables for two and four people. All in all a great experience and we'll be going back when we come to the Cape again.

The only way to truly describe it is cosy. The small windows provide that warm lighting that makes you want to read a book with a cup of coffee. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The food was good and pretty standard for diner food! Sadly they were all out of the Irish breakfast options which I was excited to try. My Ham, egg and cheese on Portuguese bread was great and very cheesy (if thats something you enjoy). My fiancé's eggs benny was good as well! My only gripe is that it's a little pricey for what it is. I guess thats normal pricing for the cape, things are just a little bit more expensive in these parts. Other than this everything was wonderful and I would definitely come back to try some Irish breakfast!

The Crab Cake Benedict was tasty and the hubs also enjoyed his Hash Omelet and side of chorizo sausage. Our server was friendly and welcoming, but don't expect the full end-to-end table service. Finished plates and glasses weren't cleared from our table, and it seemed to be the norm, as all the other tables had the same experience. Not a dealbreaker by any means, just something to be aware of. One of the biggest surprises was the gift shop! It has a fantastic selection of Cape Cod souvenirs, home décor, toys, clothing, and gifts. It was a fun place to browse while we were waiting for our table. Expect a wait on summer weekends. It was about a 20-minute wait this past Sunday but overall, we enjoyed the food and the experience and would happily return.
