Best pizza in town, especially the TRex. Sandwiches are good as well. Reasonably priced.

Love their Loaded Potato Wedges (order them with both kinds of cheese) and their pizza is awesome too! I just wish they had delivery...

The place is not fancy, actually a little dated, but clean and welcoming. There is a full bar with photos of the regulars hanging around. Electronic games, a jukebox, an atm, tv monitors and more are scattered around the various rooms of dining tables. Country music fills the air. Our servers were friendly and attentive. The food took about 15 minutes to prep and appear at our table. The servers checked on us frequently. We ordered breaded tenderloin sandwiches with onion rings. One of the servers told us that the pork was locally sourced and hand battered. Other regulars, next to us, recommended the onion rings as a side. The tenderloin was not pounded thin, but thick and juicy. The breading was light and flavorful. The bun did not hold up well, but it was fresh. The onion rings were amazing. The helping was generous and the breading was a light beer batter. It was a great meal made with local ingredients. The building is smoke free, but there is a patio that appears to allow smoking behind the main building. The rest rooms were super clean. There is street parking and and plenty of parking behind the building.

Or a plate of spaghetti with a variety of homemade Italian sauces. And homemade desserts including cheesecake, tiramisu and if the timing is right...Black & Whites! If any of the above is your thing, especially for my fellow refugees from the Northeast longing for a taste of home, get yourself here without delay. Tony the proprietor is the nicest guy and you can also call him ahead of time to place an order or discuss the dessert schedule. There's seating for about 10 or 12 people and my last visit was walk in and eat right there. About 8 minutes from time of order till the wonderful pizza was brought forth. Gaze upon those toppings. The sausage is excellent! The texture, taste, chewiness and foldability are absolutely perfect. Even my Ohioan friend was impressed. Can't wait for next time!

Yesterday we tried the Corner deli and we had a great experience. Tony was friendly and patient as we asked many questions. :). Very nice guy who knows how to make a very flavorful pizza. PLUS, They sell by the slice!! This was awesome for me because my family all likes a different topping setup. Due to this we almost always just get cheese pizza which we have grown to love and a good cheese pizza can be amazing but toppings are a nice change! Anyway, I got a piece of cheese pizza and a piece with meatball and onions. I enjoyed both a great deal. The meatball/onion combo are very flavorful and enhanced the cheese pizza a great deal.... Then I had the piece of cheese pizza and I have become boring and just love the simplicity of the cheese pizza and Tony makes a great slice of cheese pizza! Maybe get meatballs on the side next time is what I am thinking. We ordered the small salad and LOVED the Balsamic Vinaigrette (Tony mentioned it was homemade)... It was a fresh salad that we shared so it was cool that we could get the croutons and the cheese On the side.... Husband doesn't like them but I think they make the salad :) We had a very nice experience and I look forward to coming back and trying the gravy fries.

But what I remember most of all is the food, particularly ducking into a little shop off a piazza somewhere to grab whatever I could buy and eat while we walked to our next sightseeing destination--a pastry, a slice of pizza, or a sandwich. At Alveo, I almost feel like I'm right back there. The restaurant is small and lively, not a place to linger exactly but a place where you can tell you'll be taken care of. Just as many patrons are ordering to go as they are to stay. And the sandwiches? Good enough to power many, many steps of sightseeing across cobblestones, or just get you through the afternoon at your home or office in Cincinnati. They've absolutely nailed the ingredients on every sandwich I've tried, with high-quality components selected specifically for how they go together. (Like those little sandwich shops in Europe, there are no substitutions here--unless you'd like gluten free bread.) The bread? Unreal how it can hold these constructions together while being soft and delicious. The meats? Perfection. The cheese? Incredible. That pistachio stuff? I see it in my dreams. The one area where Alveo definitely deviates from its European brethren is portion size--these sandwiches are huge! They come in a paper wrapper, inside a to-go box, and believe me, you will probably need it. Each time I've been to Alveo I've ended up eating about half the sandwich for lunch and the rest for dinner, maybe with a snack in between, and felt perfectly satisfied for the day. So, yes, the $20+ price tag might discourage you, but don't let it. It's a $20 investment in a very, very delicious day.
