We were on our way home from The Heart of Ohio and wanted to try a new restaurant. So after checking a few menus at various places we settled on The Red Brick Tavern. We had no idea that this was the second oldest operating restaurant in Ohio!! We could tell it was special as soon as we saw the building. It looks like an old home that was converted into a restaurant. The dining room is split up into each of the rooms with one room being a bar area. The decor is colonial and fits the atmosphere perfectly. It's just so perfect and unique and we loved the entire experience. As for the food, it was fresh and delicious and quickly served. We ordered the bavarian pretzel, but didn't realize that as a special treat for just being a patron, they serve CINNAMON ROLLS. Yes, you read that correctly. They just give you a cinnamon roll fresh out of the oven for coming in. I felt like royalty. And it was so delicious!! We were already full once our entrees arrived but that didn't stop us from eating at least half of them before boxing the rest for later. We both tried their smashburger patty melt with fries. Once again, everything was fresh and made to order. Their fries were definitely mere potatoes just that morning, I'm sure of it. Perfectly seasoned and with a slightly crispy edge. And for the first time ever, these fries reheated so well later that night!! Usually fries from restaurants don't fare too well on that front. We will definitely stop by The Red Brick Tavern again on our next visit to Heart of Ohio. The food, atmosphere and final price were all right up our alley.

We were happy with everything we got. The cocktails were delicious. The bread basket was top tier. It has coconut cream cheese cinnamon rolls in it! For free! The space was nice. We had a large group and had the front room to ourselves. We will definitely be back.

Prime rib

We went on prime rib night. Had some apps which were not horrible. Had the prime rib. I will say they do not ask how you want it cooked. It does come out rare. I like that so I actually thought the prime rib was not bad. The clam chowder was bad. It had a very strong fish smell and it just was not good I guess as far as the quality of food goes it would be like a more expensive Applebees. Our waitress was super nice, really nice. But the service was really , really bad. The restaurant also nickel and dimes for everything. There are no substitutions or you will have to pay. Out checks were really messed up and we didn't get our dessert we asked for. We didn't get billed for it either so I guess it wasn't the end of the world. Would I eat here again? Maybe. They were not busy so I would hate to see how service would be if they were. But I might give them another shot at some point. Again not horrible just not what I was expecting

We tried out the restaurant for our anniversary. It's a very old unique building. Stuffed mushroom was AMAZING, rest of the Food was ok (French dip, chicken beast sandwich). They serve cinnamon rolls with every dinner. Drink prices were a little high for location ($9 for a very small sour margarita on the rocks). Service was ok - very slow with drinks and the bill. App and salad came out fast. We will likely give this place another try.

It's a basic neighborhood bar. Nothing fancy…read more Basic brew selection. But... There's lots of televisions, a Touch Tunes jukebox, friendly locals hanging out and a couple pull tab / lottery terminals to have some fun with. There's also some really friendly bartenders who are very nice and attentive without being intrusive. All the customers I've seen are really friendly or just keep to themselves. Never had a problem. An added plus is that they have an Ange's Pizza located on premise for some really good eats while you're getting your drink on! 4 stars

A few…read moreyears ago they started serving food, which on the surface sounds great, but they somehow got a waiver to not vent their kitchen so even if you're not sitting near it, you're going to reek. I got home last night and stripped down in front of my washer because every thing I was wearing stunk. Then I had to do the same with my husband's clothes in the morning because they made the laundry room stink since they were in there all night (he got home later than me.) When I got into my car the next morning, I was horrified to discover my car reeked too because the pullover I was wearing was still in there so I had to give my car a Febreze bath, which didn't work because even though I threw my hoodie into the washer before I left, my purse still stunk. I have no idea how the bartenders and regulars put up with this. They must have gone nose blind to the stench years ago. Sidenote: For some reason they removed some of the pool tables and replaced it with a golf game. This always confused me because the pool tables were always used and I never, ever see someone playing this golf game. I just chalked it up to the fact I started going to the bar less and less because I didn't want to smell like a deep fried chicken nugget. Then one night I finally see someone playing the stupid game and it nearly gave me a heart attack. Every time someone hit the golf ball into the screen, it sounds like a gun goes off. It's horrible. The owners have ruined this bar. Take my advice and go to the Mad Cow. Better food, better atmosphere and you'll leave with your clothes and heart intact.

If you want to go to a place where everyone knows your name swing by a few times . The pizza I ordered was Pepperoni . Sausage, Ham, Onion, and Green Pepper. Sauce flavorful with a back end residue of old world flavor, the crust light and crispy true to the ode to a tavern style pie. The toppings were plentiful.

Hubby loved the supreme pizza. I helped myself to a corner puece and liked the balance of toppings and thin crispy crust. I ordered the griled chicken salad with house made Italian dressing. The salad was plentiful with croutons, red onion, cheese, tomatoes, pepperinci, cucumber and grilled chicken. Unfortunately, the house made italian dressing was bland. Although I could see spices in the cup - all I tasted was oil. Next time I would order a different dressing. My mom ordered an Italian sub. She requested them NOT to toast her bread. What she received was a raw cold cut sandwhich. Everything was there. But they didnt bake the inside of the sub. Dad ordered the fish & chips. He received seasoned fries that were very salty and 2 pieces of battered frozen fish triangles straight out of the box. No one was expected fresh catch of the day but there was no effort put into that fish. The super nice waitress realized the mistake with the fries and replaced them with regular fries. While still salty, these fries were a huge improvement over the seasoned fries. We loved our waitress but there was only one cook in the open kitchen and he was clearly overwhelmed. I believe she was helping him as best she could. Every table waited an extremely long time for food. Then our table was less than happy with 3 of the 4 meals ordered. Bottom line - get the pizza. And bring a side of patience. I like supporting small local establishments and have no regrets. I gave this review 4 stars because of the pizza alone. I believe that when the testaurant is named "pizza" get the pizza. Everywhere I have gone, the restaurant's best meal is in its name. Go to Pat's Pizza & Pub - order pizza and you'll have a good meal.

Walked in expecting a meat cathedral or a place where steaks whisper "buy me." What I found: cozy wood-fire vibes, a very friendly (non-biting) bear, and enough bourbon options to make an old man consider rewriting his will. The fireplace smelled like nostalgic childhood and good decisions--10/10 for ambiance and for making my sweatshirt and joggers feel almost fancy. #KindaUnderDressed #WelcomedAnyway Service Taylor is the reason civilization endures. Smiling, attentive, and kept my drink full even when I'm notoriously bad at hydration. If you know this bald guy, you understand how important my hydration is. #RefillPlease Food I ordered the French Dip: shaved prime rib, caramelized onion, provolone on a rustic roll that should have its own fan club, plus a cup of au jus that practically deserves a hug. Fries instead of the famous house BBQ chips because I'm a rebel who pays extra for potatoes. Fries were excellent., but who charges extra for fries? The audacity. Sweet tea was dangerously on point. Menu Notes From steakhouse splurges ($25-$45) to bar sandwiches and a 30-tap beer situation that reads like a sommelier's fever dream, there's something to fit every budget and ego. Apps include deviled eggs with ambition and pork belly that knows what it's doing. Desserts are fancy enough to make you consider wearing socks with sandals. Vibe and Price Felt classier than my usual sweatshirt-and-wind-joggers combo, though several patrons were clearly auditioning for "dinner with a trust fund." It's a little pricey, which is trending everywhere these days -- so I blame inflation and the 1845 potato famine. Also -- again -- fries cost extra. Someone explain this economy to me. Who should go Date night, impress-your-in-laws, or take your friend who brags about beer knowledge. Say "ask for Taylor" and thank me later. Final Score 3 out of 5 Bald Head Emojis: ‍‍‍ Minus one for price. Minus one for charging extra for fries. #CheapOldMan Would I go back? Yep. Had a great time catching up on the Madison County Gossip, excellent sandwich, great server, and atmosphere that makes even a bald guy feel a little fancier. #followforsnark Recommend to anyone who wants good food and a cozy, slightly upscale small-town vibe. #ShopLocal Walked in expecting a meat cathedral or a place where steaks whisper "Buy me."
