Walked in expecting a meat cathedral or a place where steaks whisper "buy me." What I found: cozy wood-fire vibes, a very friendly (non-biting) bear, and enough bourbon options to make an old man consider rewriting his will. The fireplace smelled like nostalgic childhood and good decisions--10/10 for ambiance and for making my sweatshirt and joggers feel almost fancy. #KindaUnderDressed #WelcomedAnyway Service Taylor is the reason civilization endures. Smiling, attentive, and kept my drink full even when I'm notoriously bad at hydration. If you know this bald guy, you understand how important my hydration is. #RefillPlease Food I ordered the French Dip: shaved prime rib, caramelized onion, provolone on a rustic roll that should have its own fan club, plus a cup of au jus that practically deserves a hug. Fries instead of the famous house BBQ chips because I'm a rebel who pays extra for potatoes. Fries were excellent., but who charges extra for fries? The audacity. Sweet tea was dangerously on point. Menu Notes From steakhouse splurges ($25-$45) to bar sandwiches and a 30-tap beer situation that reads like a sommelier's fever dream, there's something to fit every budget and ego. Apps include deviled eggs with ambition and pork belly that knows what it's doing. Desserts are fancy enough to make you consider wearing socks with sandals. Vibe and Price Felt classier than my usual sweatshirt-and-wind-joggers combo, though several patrons were clearly auditioning for "dinner with a trust fund." It's a little pricey, which is trending everywhere these days -- so I blame inflation and the 1845 potato famine. Also -- again -- fries cost extra. Someone explain this economy to me. Who should go Date night, impress-your-in-laws, or take your friend who brags about beer knowledge. Say "ask for Taylor" and thank me later. Final Score 3 out of 5 Bald Head Emojis: ‍‍‍ Minus one for price. Minus one for charging extra for fries. #CheapOldMan Would I go back? Yep. Had a great time catching up on the Madison County Gossip, excellent sandwich, great server, and atmosphere that makes even a bald guy feel a little fancier. #followforsnark Recommend to anyone who wants good food and a cozy, slightly upscale small-town vibe. #ShopLocal Walked in expecting a meat cathedral or a place where steaks whisper "Buy me."

The flavors were fantastic, although the hot honey chicken could have been hotter in our opinion. We definitely left happy and full! Our waitress, Ellie, was absolutely phenomenal. She was so friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. Great food + amazing service = we'll definitely be back! Highly recommend checking this place out! The building is beautifully renovated. Street parking or city lot parking are your best options because the "small lot" at the back of the building is 2 spots + handicap. It's only about a 2 min walk from a public lot to the door though.

The atmosphere was charming, the décor was exactly what we were hoping for, and the menu felt genuinely true to British cuisine rather than a themed interpretation. Unfortunately, our visit took place on a colder day, and the large garage-style door connecting to the outdoor seating area was left open. As a result, the entire restaurant felt quite cold throughout our meal. Since we were dining with our infant son, this made it difficult to fully enjoy the experience and was our biggest disappointment of the evening. In fact, it was cold enough that we kept our coats on throughout dinner, which made it hard to relax and enjoy the atmosphere the restaurant had worked so hard to create. We also ordered the fish and chips. The quality of the fish was very good, and it was clearly prepared with care. However, the portion size left something to be desired. The meal included only one medium-sized piece of fish, which felt small for a dinner entrée, especially considering the price point. While the food itself was enjoyable, we were hoping for a more substantial serving. Despite these issues, The Last Queen delivered on atmosphere, authenticity, and food quality. I would be willing to give it another try, particularly during warmer weather, as I believe the temperature and comfort level had a significant impact on our overall experience.

I came out in December for their Miracle pop-up in 2025…read more As someone who has gone to a ton of holiday cocktail bars and pop-ups over the last 10 years, Overlook Lodge's is probably the best I've ever been to. Be aware it will be FAST. Look at the order ahead of time if you're a picky eater/drinker. They run your appointment like clockwork, and you'll be in-and-out, gulping down cocktails, through the entire experience. Your two drinks are included (this year, anyway), and I'd honestly be surprised if you managed to have time for a third. Time zips by fast. That being said, because they do it this way, you essentially have constant service, there's "events" that happen at the end of your reservation time, (I don't want to spoil it, but cover your drink!), and then they kick you out. Service was friendly, though, and I saw the server make time to take group photos for all of the tables (including ours) with someone at the table's camera. (No bullshit "group photo" upsells here) It's kinda loud, though, and I wouldn't recommend this as a chill meet-up-and-socialize spot. (If you wanna talk, they have an addendum, Christmas-themed laid-back bar next door.) It's more of a "get blasted in the face by Christmas for an hour and then leave" experience. It's pretty loud, and talking can be a bit difficult over the music and constant interruptions (more drinks? Photos? Cute Christmas video montage?) But this works in its favor as it feels the most Christmas, over-the-top, and seasonal out of all the holiday bars I've ever been to. It also keeps it from feeling too crowded as reservations are required, so you for-sure have a seat and you don't have to stand forever in line to wait for drinks. I'd probably guesstimate that bar staff is making all of their seasonal drinks, constantly, and servers just pick one up to deliver. With the capacity in here, it would make sense. No idea what the bar is like the rest of the year; this is just a review for the Miracle pop-up which, again, is probably the best I've been to in the Midwest. Cincinnati, you're spoiled down here. (Sidenote, I was absolutely taken aback by their TV presentation on the wall. It's hard to describe, but it isn't just a projector showing a giant rectangle. It's specifically slotted into the holes in-between holiday decorations. Staff told me that had to hire special technicians to get it to show up that way and that's seriously a level of detail I am so amazed by.)

I ordered the Manhattan and husband ordered a bourbon neat; the Manhattan was classically tasty, but the bourbon was a very small pour (though the prices are very reasonable). Kiddo had the lavender lemonade which was tasty. Husband and I both ordered the chicken fingers, he with the pimento Mac and cheese, and I ordered the jalapeño cornbread. Kiddo had eaten already but we ordered her the biscuits. The chicken was fantastic- seasoned well and not overcooked. It was served with tasty vinegary greens (wish I had more!) and thin-sliced watermelon. The Mac and cheese was good but light on the pimento; we enjoyed the Old Bay seasoned Ritz cracker crumble. The jalapeño cornbread was lacking heat but tasted good. I tried the biscuits and could eat the orange marmalade-ish jelly forever, though our kid didn't care for it. We came back the following week and this time tried the catfish and grits. The catfish was seasoned perfectly and very good; the grits were average, needing more seasoning and some cheese. It was busier this time but still great service. I enjoyed a Negroni and husband had a whiskey (better pour this time). Overall we've been impressed by the menu, service, and price.
