They have decorated the lounge area nicely for the holidays to give a warm feeling. My issue is with whoever was managing the kitchen that day. The event had chicken tenders and fries which were served for the kids, but they had run out. There was no sign that this option is for kids only, so unsurprisingly adults had taken these food items as well. Some of the kids do not eat anything else, so a few moms had asked if these items were going to be refilled. One of the staff members was really nice and said he would check, which then brought the chef out himself to say there were actually no more to be served, but he would fry a few for us. That was very kind of him, so we waited near the table for him. Ten minutes later we are approached by a man saying "sorry, no more food will be coming out." It had no context, so we said yes, we are aware, but a chef said he would bring a few out for us, to which he replied "listen, this was a freebie itself, there was only tenders for a 20 kid count... the buffet has already been discounted...it's in the contract... etc." I was like taken aback... 1) I'm not the host of the event, so I have no idea why a contract is being brought up to me who is just a guest attending, it was super unprofessional and unnecessary, 2) I did not demand any more food to be brought out, it was offered to us, and 3) I did not need this condescending attitude from this man, all he had to say is "I know the chef said he would make a few, but we are not able to offer more tenders." That right there would have been perfectly fine and that is no problem, because if you can't, you can't. He definitely put a negative vibe over something so simplistic just by the way of his attitude during a beautiful event. Shame!

Graystone Cellars is a banquet venue in the Brewery District located in a limestone vault. (pretty cool, huh?!) They carry some local wines & their food menu looks delicious! Plenty of options from a la carte apps to dinner and apps to dinner, drinks, & apps, etc. For drinks, there are multiple options from sodas to wine/beer to wine/beer/spirits, to better spirits, you name it! Brian was responsive and the information packet he sent me had everything I would want to know (the food and drink options, venue pictures, cost, etc.). I asked if gratuity was included, and he confirmed it was added into all of the pricing. So, it was a really great option! I haven't reviewed places I haven't experienced, but we looked at quite a few venues, and I was really impressed by the quality of food and drinks, how beautiful the space was, and the price. It was the best venue option, in my opinion. So, I wanted to share! The only reason we didn't book Graystone is because one of my colleagues got too nervous about the little lead time we had & wanted something with live bar music for the younger folk, so he booked a grungy bar. The younger team wanted to karaoke (he didn't), and he knew that no one could karaoke if there was already live music & a venue available to the public, so here we are. Ha! Fingers crossed for next year.

Baking macarons is a tricky thing and Damaris did such a good job breaking down all the steps. She gave us lots of tips and tricks for our home baking, and you can see her passion for what she does. That said, I have been to several of the cooking schools in Columbus and this was my least favorite overall attendee experience. It was more expensive, yet very "basic" for lack of a better word. All of the cooking classes I have attended come with some kind of amenities - a welcome cocktail, wine bar, cheese and crackers, hot coffee/tea, etc. Something. This class was three hours long and there was nothing offered but water and iced tea (on a 20 degree day). We also did not receive any kind of information prior to the class, so parking was like solving a mystery (hint: the parking lot is behind the house down a side alleyway)

So first off I want to say I am glad my husband purchased me this gift. In theory cooking with tea…read moresounded like the coolest thing ever and it was a very thoughtful gift, but the actual experience was a bit lackluster. The Seasoned Farmhouse is a beautiful space, but the cooking class was just okay. I unfortunately didn't learn any new skills and the main reason for this review being so low is because my husband and I got food poisoning at the event. I felt sick as soon as I ate the food and didn't feel better until 24 hours later. I have lots of thoughts on why this happened, that I will explain later. Class + Recipes: The recipes we tried were good. It was a class all about learning how to cook with tea. We made Shaoxing Wine Tea-Poached Chicken with Scallion Oil, Sweet Tea-Brined Roast Chicken, Salad Greens with Golden Raisin Vinaigrette, Tea-Poached Eggs, Black Tea Poppy Seed Muffins, Earl Grey Tea Cake with Chopped Chocolate and Tea-Infused Cream Cheese Frosting and Roasted Yukon Potato Wedges with Aioli Sauce. The food tasted good and I appreciated the amount of thought that Chef Cindy Ramsey put into creating them. However, I was severely disappointed with the set-up of the class. I've been to 6 cooking classes at other locations and always was assigned to a specific station where each participant would make each dish and learn new cooking skills. This class was set-up where we were given a 20 minute lecture and then told to wash our hands and disperse to focus on different aspects of the meal. For instance I mixed the aioli sauce, iced the cake and teared lettuce leaves. Though we were told to wash our hands, we didn't wear gloves and this is what I believe caused my husband and I to get sick. Cons: Lack of cleanliness. During the demonstrations sometimes the chef would touch raw ingredients like eggs and chicken and would then touch other ingredients that would not be cooked. This leads to cross contamination and should have been avoided on the chefs behalf. In addition, because 10 different people peeled eggs, and various people touched ingredient components that would not be cooked I believe this also may be the cause of getting sick. As a science nerd let me share that we all have a different skin microbiome. Sometimes people carry more of one bacteria on their skin than others. Also depending on the length and cleanliness of finger nails, this also could cause unwanted bacteria on food that was prepared without being cooked. If these bacteria get into the ingredients, some people can get ill from them. Net: PLEASE HAVE ALL PARTICIPANTS WEAR GLOVES WHEN PREPARING FOOD, ESPECIALLY ITEMS THAT WILL NOT BE COOKED. I feel like the price of the class was not cheap and hopefully could cover the cost of gloves in the future. Based on this experience, I would not come here again and do not recommend it to someone who is looking for a more traditional style cooking class.

I am not sure if the venue supplied the decor or not, but the entirety of the venue, even down to structure of the actual building, is just really pretty. It's simple and has a rustic yet modern and clean farmhouse feel. Lots of greenery everywhere. The party lights strung all throughout the ceiling definitely added a very quaint and warm feel. I was surprised it only took the cocktail hour after the ceremony for the staff (of whom was very inconspicuous... I don't even remember barely noticing staff) to turn the room where the wedding took place, into the reception! With tables, linens, big grand center pieces... I mean... the works! HOW did they do that in 1 hour?! Anyways... everything was right in it's place. The ambiance to the venue was to die for and the entire evening seemed to flow so seamlessly. A+++ for the Vue!

Everything about this venue just made me love it like the rustic and artsy room. Perfect space to entertain guests. I can't wait to come here again in September for the Beauty Boost's fall version of the Taste of Fitness event. It will be bigger and even better! So mark your calendar peeps! You won't want to miss this fun event! Plus the event space isn't too shabby either!
