Most of the time it's pretty empty but there can be times when a lot of people go here to hang out especially on a nice day. There are two bbq charcoal grills and a community garden too. Overall a nice spot to hang at. Only downside is in the summer time when the yellow jackets hover around the grass :( otherwise, my doggo and I enjoy coming here.

This is a nice park in Magnolia. There's a large grassy area that's flat, so perfect for playing…read moresoccer or running around with the kids. There is also a play structure area, with both a structure for older kids and one for younger kids. There is also a grassy area up above with various courts and fields. The trees around this park surround it except for the west side, so in the afternoon this Park can be sunny. One downside to caution against is that the pavement surrounding the play structure, while you may think it's good for biking, it's not because of the huge drops from the concrete down into the tanbark as well as the narrowness of the pathways. It can be very dangerous for younger or inexperienced bikers.

The park is all gravel, which hasn't bothered Ozzie at all. I also like that it has one doubly fenced entrance. And of course poop bags are in abundance. The majority of dog owners I've met here pay very close attention to their dogs during play and most dogs are quite well behaved and play very nicely with each other. (Except for that one lady who brought her dog who clearly has guarding issues and would bark at all the other dogs anytime they came near the community tennis ball... that lady's dog.. not so nice at all). I only wish they had a doggie water fountain or some source of water nearby.

When I arrived around 8:37 a.m., there were a few dog walkers out. There is a large playground area and paved trails through grassy areas with trees. I noticed some normal swings as well as what looked like a zipline swing. I walked over to check it out and sure enough it was a zipline swing. Figuring out how to use it, I opted for a sitting approach since I have sustained a head trauma in the past that I did not want to replicate. It was fun to use, and I was relieved it did not get going too fast. Dismounting once the swing started slowing down was without incident as well. While in the playground area, I heard a Northern flicker (a type of woodpecker) calling and looked up to see if I could find it. What I saw was a Cooper's hawk up high in a tree. In our backyard the Cooper's hawks like to chase after the flickers. I exclaimed out loud "a Cooper's hawk" and an American crow on the ground not too far from me cawed and looked at me. The hawks also chase them in our backyard. The hawk flew off before too long and the handsome crow when back to foraging in the grass. A restroom building in the trailed area of the park has running water and soap. I made sure to wash my hands after using the swing on the playground. The building and grounds of the park were well-maintained.

That's right, there's a tremendous sand pit with "community" diggers available for everyone's use. This says a lot about the general public's use and value of this park. It was really sweet to see the local kids descend on this park and run rampant for 10 minutes until the school bus came. The whole feel of this park takes me back to when I was what is now called a "free range kid." My husband and I also really enjoyed the zip line (who says it's just for kids?!) and didn't even get half of a side-eye for doing our body weight workouts on the play structure while our son played.

I immediately met two very friendly people, one of whom was a pet sitter and was with several lovely pups. I had zero issues with either of the people or any of the dogs present. In fact, this lady was so kind when the incident occurred - beyond helpful and wonderful. Within five minutes of being there, my older dog, who is just under 8 yrs old, slipped on gravel and presumably incurred a spinal injury. Her hind legs were temporarily paralyzed, she was screaming in pain, and we had to see an emergency immediately. As I was leaving, this incredibly kind woman mentioned that she saw a similar thing happen to a GSD within a week prior to it happening to my dog. Her prognosis is up in the air. If she needs surgery, I can't afford $10k+ and have no idea if she will make it. It's too early to tell. Ironically, the pet sitter was commenting on how agile my girl is for her age within the minute leading up to this incident. I never would've considered that gravel would be such a risk for potential spinal injury/paralysis of larger dogs, but dog parents beware: DOGS RUNNING IN GRAVEL CAN CAUSE SEVERE AND LIFE THREATENING INJURIES! Be cautious when choosing where to let your babies get their zoomies out. I wish I had known better. Seeing her like this is heartbreaking, and for ~5 minutes of fun? I cannot recommend this park on that basis alone.

This is the message I sent the city. I am reporting an…read moreincident that happened on 9/24 at the magnolia dog park. Three huskies, two of which attacked my puppy (4 months old). He was physically hurt and the behaviour of the dogs was extremely out of what is acceptable. During the attack I confronted the dogs, beat them off and helped my pup out of the situation. Please let me know what I can do. At the time I did not have my phone otherwise I would have pics of the dogs and owner. I intend to go back and if they are there again I will get pics of the owner, dogs and anything else that can keep them out of the park. Again, this was an attack. I do understand dogs will be dogs but these huskies are unacceptable.

The University Playground is definitely not one of the famous Seattle parks... that is for sure…read more It's more of a neighborhood park for all of the nearby residents and in that aspect it's fine. The park is actually pretty clean aside for some urban camping going on in one corner of the park. There is a lot of playground equipment for the kids to enjoy as well as a playing field so this park definitely has all of the basics covered as to what makes up a park. It just isn't one of the parks with a lot of bells and whistles ( ex. leash free dog park, swimming pool, etc.). Despite not having a lot of walking trails in this park it is still a decent park to take a stroll through. There is a piece of playground equipment with a troll statue on it... definitely not to be confused with the Fremont Troll.

As far as playgrounds are concerned for toddlers and kids this is kinda weak and lackluster…read more There were a few homeless camps set up in the perimeter of the play area, 'tho the transients didn't cause any trouble nor bother anyone, their presence seemed alarming and disturbing by sight as more of a negative than positive to the environment and atmosphere. The play area itself and equipment for toddlers and kids were not that much to do or play around on or with, so I'd probably never come back here again for the purpose of getting a kid to play. This place has the potential for re-invigoration 'tho.

Pretty good little dog park, close to my home. It's on the small side, but it's not bad. There's…read moreno grass, there's a paved area and some concrete areas. My dog would love to run on some grass, but I know that it gets torn up quickly with multiple dogs run around. They have water and water bowls, a little agility ramp, some scooper equipment, and there are usually some toys or balls left there to play with. My only concern is that some local neighbors without dogs like to come in here to have a beer or eat their lunch. Generally I don't care, but people eating food can really distract the dogs, and there's no reason why this has to be a hangout for people without dogs, especially when they start to get rowdy. That said, Olive loves it, and still gets super excited every time we go there, so it will continue to be a regular stop for us!
