Thomas Street Mini Park was practically across from my old digs on Bellevue Ave, but I never really spent anytime there. Just passing through. This park is small, but beautiful. It is an urban park surrounded by apartment buildings. This is a nice park to play with your dogs or get a sun tan when it is sunny out. The park has huge hilly and grassy mounds which makes sunning here ideal. There is a bench and some seating areas here which make it a good spot for a meal outside. It has also got some beautiful tall trees at the edge of the park. While it is a small park, it is great for what it is intended to be which is an urban respite. It gives the community a place to retreat to when they inevitably get stir crazy from being in their apartments too long.

The shortcut up the hill is way worth any of that though. And I think the park is beautiful in it's own way. I love the industrial look and how it melds with it's environment. Our experience was a good one. It was a bright and sunny day with minimal wind. We saw over 6 sets of homeless people and they didn't bother us one bit. Our hotel overlooked the park and we saw people in it with their dogs all the time, even when it was raining.

I immediately met two very friendly people, one of whom was a pet sitter and was with several lovely pups. I had zero issues with either of the people or any of the dogs present. In fact, this lady was so kind when the incident occurred - beyond helpful and wonderful. Within five minutes of being there, my older dog, who is just under 8 yrs old, slipped on gravel and presumably incurred a spinal injury. Her hind legs were temporarily paralyzed, she was screaming in pain, and we had to see an emergency immediately. As I was leaving, this incredibly kind woman mentioned that she saw a similar thing happen to a GSD within a week prior to it happening to my dog. Her prognosis is up in the air. If she needs surgery, I can't afford $10k+ and have no idea if she will make it. It's too early to tell. Ironically, the pet sitter was commenting on how agile my girl is for her age within the minute leading up to this incident. I never would've considered that gravel would be such a risk for potential spinal injury/paralysis of larger dogs, but dog parents beware: DOGS RUNNING IN GRAVEL CAN CAUSE SEVERE AND LIFE THREATENING INJURIES! Be cautious when choosing where to let your babies get their zoomies out. I wish I had known better. Seeing her like this is heartbreaking, and for ~5 minutes of fun? I cannot recommend this park on that basis alone.

He was physically hurt and the behaviour of the dogs was extremely out of what is acceptable. During the attack I confronted the dogs, beat them off and helped my pup out of the situation. Please let me know what I can do. At the time I did not have my phone otherwise I would have pics of the dogs and owner. I intend to go back and if they are there again I will get pics of the owner, dogs and anything else that can keep them out of the park. Again, this was an attack. I do understand dogs will be dogs but these huskies are unacceptable.

Along the perimeter are some exposed picnic tables, some tree shade, some kids play areas and walking path loop (which connects the upper street with the street down some steep stairs). Peaceful, pleasant and tranquil. I came here to enjoy some food from Koku Cafe + Market and Bounty Kitchen. Nice spot! Will look nicer when the season changes and the grass is green. Plenty of parking on the west side of park along the east side of the tree-lined street hill.

This is a GREAT park to take your little kids. There is a small jungle gym with some fun looking slides. There are lots of trees around that muffle noise and keep it from getting too hot. The lawn is always nicely manicured and really the whole place seems ridiculously well maintained. There is a steep wooden stairway that leads from the park down to where I live, and it was all overgrown with tree branches, but the city peeps came down and hacked them all away, thus preventing me from whacking my head on a branch. I recommend this place for people who want a small park to take kids, teenagers who need a good make out spot, and people who just want a really pretty place to sit and read a book or chill.

The park is all gravel, which hasn't bothered Ozzie at all. I also like that it has one doubly fenced entrance. And of course poop bags are in abundance. The majority of dog owners I've met here pay very close attention to their dogs during play and most dogs are quite well behaved and play very nicely with each other. (Except for that one lady who brought her dog who clearly has guarding issues and would bark at all the other dogs anytime they came near the community tennis ball... that lady's dog.. not so nice at all). I only wish they had a doggie water fountain or some source of water nearby.

Herring's House Park is a City of Seattle park in the Port of Seattle providing both paved and…read moredirt/gravel walking paths to visitors. Along the paths are grassy areas, abundant vegetation harboring many different birds, benches to sit and watch the park/Duwamish River, and picnic areas. The park immediately borders Terminal 107 Park, which is located just south of Herring's House Park, and the Duwamish River/Waterway which abuts the park's east side. I came here a couple times earlier this month, the first time a bit by accident. I was planning on going to Terminal 107 Park and did, reached some paved paths and wondered if the paths were part of the same park. Turns out they are not, the paved paths are part of Herring's House Park. But it took me a second day of adventuring here to figure that out. Each park has its own parking lot, the sign for Herring's House Park is more tucked away, something to keep in mind if driving here. The park is also easily accessible via foot or bicycle via the Duwamish Trail. Walking the trails in the morning was a treat. I saw different water birds out and fishing about. At the very northern edge of the park the West Seattle Bridge and the Space Needle are visible in the distance. Ships loaded with cargo and smaller boats made their way through the Duwamish Waterway, a fun sight to watch. I came both times in the morning when the tide was nearer low tide than hide tide and crossing the small water channel carrying water from the bog area to the Duwamish Waterway was not too dangerous. An absolutely gorgeous location on a clear day. When I drove past more recently on Wednesday the 16th of September 2020 I noticed the park was closed, so I checked it out online and the park was closed due to the hazardous air quality from the smoke of the Washington State wildfires. The park has since reopened again.

Herring's House is a great little park to walk around. It doesn't offer you any wide open vistas, or hiking trails. But it does have lots of beautiful scenery, places to picnic, and an osprey nest on site. So, if you have any pets or small children you want to dispose of, just rub a little fish oil on them and leave them near the back of the park. (Kidding!) If you're looking for an overlooked beautiful place to chill out when its warm, head here. The parking lot is right next to the entrance to the Grey Line facility.
