Sev Laser Review: This location in particular has poor management and the best indicator of that is the staff retention. They have new staff (front office and nurses) constantly leaving. The business itself has recently increased its prices due to poor outcomes. I'm originally from the Bay Area and started at Sev there then moved here. Nurses are constantly rushing to get you in and out. The staff has given me racist vibes; they don't ever offer me an appointment to schedule, often times nurses don't explain post care to me, I've had them say "you get a lot of services done" or "those are large areas" insinuating I must be hairy but why else would I be here? With Midde Eastern and South Asian genetics it's what I get. I have also used "too many fee waivers". Letting go of the racial nuances in my services, I just needed to get my laser done but like many of us life situations will come up. I have gotten my whole body done in the last 4 years (shouldn't my hair growth be minimal now?) and considering being present in a pandemic (getting COVID) and other life situations come up I have had to reschedule. Most recently I was unaware that laser cannot be done over henna, which I appreciate the safety check but then asking for me to pay a cancellation fee for a service I arrived and intended to complete seems unjust; consequently due to my life situations in 4 years I am no longer eligible for a fee waiver due to a safety concern being mandated by Sev. Instead of being offered another date to come in and complete the service, I was told to contact management if I had any issues with paying the cancellation fee. Management did not care. I don't recommend coming to the Irvine location. I don't recommend the Sev laser because as a client of 4 years who is still having to deal with their frustrations, learn from my mistakes. read more

I purchased a Groupon voucher in October 2020 and the next availability wasn't until February 2021. I was so shocked because I did not know that appointments would be so booked! Before your first appointment, you will get a text from a nurse practitioner to have a 1 minute FaceTime interview. Then, you will get an email/text to complete some Covid forms online. When I arrived, the receptionist was very welcoming and friendly. I was also able to book 3 appointments in advance! The receptionist even recommended to always call or look online because people are always canceling and rescheduling their appointments. To give you another idea of how booked their appointments usually get, the next availability I got was May. The receptionist even explained that once you have your first appointment with the Groupon voucher, you have a year from that day to use it before the rest of the sessions expire. Anyways, when it was my turn to get lasered, Kenzie was very nice and comforting! She explained the process well. I got my lower arms and full Brazilian done. I was a little shy at first, but Kenzie made me feel comfortable! She even gave me some aloe vera to take home because my skin got a tad red. This place is a ripp off! I prepaid for service. I had a package if 6 laser sessions and was 8 minutes late to my appointment. They called me right at 10 the time of my appointment i let them know ow I was 5 minutes away...they text back for me to come in at a later time. I couldn't make that time and they charged me for a service that was already paid for... the last time I was there I waited 10 minutes for them... they stressed me out while I was driving to this appointment and when I was almost there there like too late! Started off as a Groupon recommendation from a friend... here I am, almost a dozen visits & continuously buying these monthly specials for whatever else I can get zapped. HAHA. I've been visiting SEV in Irvine since the beginning of 2020 and all my experiences have been great. If you're thinking of laser hair removal, this is the place to go! They get you in and out of there in 10-15 minutes - yup, you heard me right. Large areas (Brazilian + under arms) in 10-15 minutes. - Parking is horrible at this center during LUNCH hours. SEV has ONE spot reserved in front of their door. I always try to book my appointments avoiding the lunch rush. - You can only book 3 appointments at a time. I always schedule a 3rd appointment when I leave so I always have 3 appointments in the books. They get booked very quickly so don't expect to be able to reschedule so easily. - I've had about 4 different nurses do my laser but VANESSA is my favorite. She really gets in there and zaps all the little crevices. No spots missed! - PCOS here, so I'll most likely be a never ending customer. But it is nice to not have to worry about shaving as often anymore! Front desk ladies have always been very nice. Clean facility. See you at my next session. I'm from San Diego and I stopped using the La Jolla location for the same reason. But now I'm gonna stop using this Compnay all together. They made appointments 2-3 months in advance and take a $100 deposit. And when it's time to confirm your appointment, you lose your $100 if you don't confirm the appointment. Find another company... the girls at front desk think they own the joint and test you like you're nothing anyways. This place is great for laser hair removal! I bought the 2 medium areas on Groupon and after the sixth treatment there has been huge improvement, only a few patchy areas are left. I feel the lower arms could be better but maybe I didn't go high enough on the zapping scale. It's hard getting an appointment so book months out. I tried rescheduling one of my appointments due to a conflict and the next available was 2 or 3 months out. I have had 6 sessions on my abdomen with SEV laser which I bought a group on for. I find them very expensive as compared to few others but I really like their service. One thing I hate about them is that even though they are very particular about you coming on time, you still have to sometimes wait for 10-15 minutes from your scheduled time. So it's okay for you to wait but they will not wait for you. My husband got his chest done from here as well and he actually had to pay for one appointment to which we was late and so that was not nice, I think. I've had all of my sessions!!! 6 months+ commitment! If you're reading reviews of people who HAVEN'T completed all of their sessions, well, take it with a grain of salt. Results vary, etc but the more sessions, the less hair. I'll also update this in the future if something changes. STAFFING: There's about 10 nurses who work here total and 3 are always present (one in each room). If you like a particular nurse, let the front desk know! My personal favorite was Kayla. There are discrepancies between nurses: some do it rather quickly, others do it very carefully and ask you to hold the skin taut, etc. PRICING: 5/5. Def check out Groupon like I did! One per user, sadly. OFFICE VIBES: Very clean and organized. Staff members are nice enough, nurses are super friendly! When COVID-19 hit, SEV was GREAT with communication and making sure we followed guidelines (face mask, hand sanitizer, social distancing, etc.) I'm appreciative of SEV for staying open with proper protocols, because let's be real, a closure of 2+ months would've completely wasted my previous sessions (I'm speaking from experience for another laser place) and wasted my money. RESULTS: Honestly, I'm very pleased! There's been very little hair growth in the sessions I've done (sideburns, upper lip, and underarms). Worth noting, I am light skinned with dark hair. I'm fresh off my 6th session so who knows about hair regrowth in the coming months (I hope not!). It really is a nearly painless procedure! TO GROUPON USERS: Yes, Sev is crazy booked for Groupon users. You should definitely try to book as many appointments as you can at once. I was able to book #1-3 at once, and then #4-6 at my first appointment. I'd suggest booking 5-6 weeks apart versus 4 weeks apart. Their booking timeline for Groupon users is explicitly stated in their Groupon listing so y'all shouldn't get mad tbh - esp at the price! OVERALL COMMENTS: If you're in the market for a laser hair removal place, I'd recommend using a Groupon and going to Sev. SEV is quite a great place!! They always communicate promptly when I need to reschedule my session and/or I have a question. Very clean, comfortable service and ladies in the front as well as treatment nurses are always very pleasant. I usually go with different nurses all the time, and in my experience they make sure you are comfortable and give you a little test before beginning each area to make sure if the pain was tolerable. (which was so minimum in my case). I had two of my sessions with Vanessa, and I must say she is so nice and super helpful, the service is outstanding and always a 10/10. They are always on time, I had quite a few session with them, and they never kept me waiting. I literally in and out in less than 20 minutes. Regarding the comment below, that I waited years in between visits. I did the first 8 as scheduled the best I could, getting appointments is difficult..but then COVID happened so I was unable to do the last 2 until the restrictions were lifted. Nevertheless you would think that I would have seen major improvements. I am a 45 year old Persian female. I started going here for laser hair removal about 3 years ago. After 11 sessions on my legs, I still have hair and need to shave. The same applies to the other areas I had done here. Apparently I was at a level 17, I just don't think they have the best laser technology because there is no way I would still need to shave the way I do. My sisters both did it 15 years ago (somewhere else) and they have way less hair then I do. Very frustrating read more

I'm super impressed with SEV laser. I switched over to SEV from a different laser place that was unable to accommodate my schedule because of their limited opening days. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by the friendliest staff! They were super welcoming and nice and made me feel very comfortable. Ellie was super friendly and made me feel really comfortable in the room. She explained the machines and how the process would work. She did a couple test tries with the laser to make sure I was comfortable. The laser machines they use do not hurt AT ALL. At my previous laser place, it would be so painful and I would leave with red bumps all over my body but not at SEV. Today was my first time here and I can't wait to continue coming to SEV and seeing the results. I will post a review in a couple months with my results. I truly cannot say enough good things about Sev! I used to get such bad ingrowns from shaving and waxing but was nervous that laser might not work on my finer, dark blonde/light brown hair but I did some research and learned that the machines at SEV have both ALEX (for lighter/finer hair and YAG (for darker/thicker hair) so it can eliminate hair from a much wider range of people than some other lasers out there. So I purchased a series of 6 full sessions and went every 4-6 weeks then followed up with a few more 10min touch up sessions every 8ish weeks after that to be sure ever single hair was gone and I had the most ideal results! No more hair,bumps or shaving! Life changing The experience was always fast, and pain free and the cold air it blows makes the laser not even noticeable. Sev is located in Irvine, in the same plaza where the newly Trade food market is located. I have heard of Laser hair removal for many years and have been contemplating whether I should try it. I have always been interested in having the procedure done but was just curious on pain, costs and how many sessions I will need. Luckily on Groupon, I found a great package deal and did my research on this particular business. Irvine is the newest location in addition to the others in Glendale, Melrose and Sherman Oaks. The Sev social media shares many clients which are celebrities and thats always a good sign. Knowing that these celebrities choose this place for there treatments amongst many others, gives me confidence that I have found a place to finally give laser hair removal a try. Ambiance: Small and cute, Boutique like, white walls with a few designer books displayed and Jo Malone Candles. Front Staff: Beautiful and Friendly with warm smiles. Answered all my questions and concerns. Was very helpful. Laser Treatment: Before treatment there's a Dr that goes over any major issues on health and gives clearance to proceed. You can also fill out all the necessary paperwork online prior to your appointment. Lena performed the procedure and was very professional and kind. She went over all post laser instructions and was very sweet. Laser removal was painless! The cold air blasts the same time as the laser which gives it a numbing effect and makes it painless. Just started laser in the brazilian area. Fantastic results after one session. Not immediately, but after a week, a significant amount of hairs fell out as I showered. When I shaved, there was no stubble and regrowth has been very slow & minimal. Took less than ten minutes, and the pain is less than wax -- and easier because you don't feel every follicle of hair being ripped out. So far, a 10/10. Will update as time goes on. read more

I purchased their Groupon deal which I believe was well worth it. I just finished up my last session a few weeks back that my groupon included six sessions. So far the results are good. I will probably just need some maintenance down the line. I got the Brazilian and underarms done and haven't seen much hair growth since the last couple sessions. The nurse recommended me that when I'm ready for a touch up, to do the touch up sessions that can hit any targeted area that has been treated before. Rather than buying the separate sessions for the area. I wish they allowed more than one groupon purchase for their deals as hair laser removal can be fairly pricey. Most Groupon deals allow you to repurchase in a year or so from your last purchase. Or they should give some type of promotional deal to past clients to make the price a little less expensive and tense. Booking when having Groupon can be a hassle as well. Honestly from when I made my first appointment that was about two months out, I went ahead and stayed on the phone with the receptionist to make the other five consecutive appointments after that. Because it is a lot easier to cancel an appointment and see if they have an opening or cancellation around that time, rather than trying to find time for a session that was never made. I, myself have not had any bad experiences with this company and the staff has always truly been so nice to me. Definitely the least painful laser experience because their machines blast out super cool air, but I feel like compared to other places I've been to the removal wasn't as effective. Not sure if they use a less intense level of laser or not, but I noticed I still had growth when normally I wouldn't for awhile after 6 sessions. I've been going to SEV for some time now, and I think all of the practitioners are very nice and do a good job. There are some general business practices that I find really questionable here, though. First, it's extremely strange that the practitioners don't step out of the room when you get undressed. It would take 2 seconds, and be a courtesy that allows patients a little dignity. It seems like everything the business does is aimed at maximizing the number of appointments they take each day -- which is of course understandable. But it's clear that the customer experience takes a backseat. Along those lines, I find their appointment confirmation process MASSIVELY off putting. I have no issue when companies charge if you cancel within 48 hours prior to the appointment. Although 24 hours is more standard, 48 is reasonable. That said 3-4 days before my appointment, at about 8:45 am, I'll receive a text asking to confirm. If I don't respond by 12:30, I'll get another. Then another if I don't respond by 2:30. Then another if I don't respond at 4. Then I'll receive a barrage of calls. This is INSANE and puts a lot of pressure on the client! I'm not suggesting that the texts should go ignored, but I've been unable to be on my phone due to work/other obligations etc -- which is something I shouldn't have to explain to a laser hair removal company 4 days before my appointment, well before the 48 hour window. Every other beauty service/appointment-based establishment I've been to sends a text, and waits another 24 hours before amping up their communications. I had hoped this was a fluke, but it's happened the last several times I've made an appointment, and it's incredibly irritating. I also get that some laser hair removal places offer more luxury experiences whereas some operate in a more high-volume way. I was fine with the latter, to a point. I'm going to take my business elsewhere. Hope they adjust. read more

I just received my first laser treatment (When Hairy Met Sally) today and had the best experience! Everyone was so welcoming and friendly upon greeting me. The place is decorated super cute! I was a little nervous going in because I've never had any laser treatment before but the process was so quick and painless. If you've ever been waxed, this is cake. I've shopped around and the prices here cannot be beat. My experience was so enjoyable, I committed to a 6 session deal...which they're having right now and was able to schedule my next appointment fairly soon due to a cancellation. Definitely check them out for your needs. I was in and out of there in less than 15 mins. Not to mention they're in compliance with Covid protocol. I called to schedule an appointment and the representative was absolutely lovely and helpful. She did however tell me that they are booked out for the next 6 months. WAIT WHAT? What did I just pay for? I need to be hairless now, not a year from now. Any-who, to add to my frustration she mentioned I am only able to book 3 sessions at a time as opposed to the 6 I purchased. Seeing as how difficult it is to book initially - I am afraid it will be way more than the suggested 4-6 weeks before I may book my remaining 3 sessions. I checked YELP before purchasing and I did see a few reviews warning how they had difficulty booking sessions, but I went ahead and purchased anyway - I should have known better. Please NOTE, IT IS DIFFICULT TO BOOK. If you want to start your laser-hair-free-journey. Look elsewhere. The last item I would like to add is that their Customer Service is on point at least. The woman that helped me on the phone was wonderful. The two stars is for the business and they way it's ran. If they had made it clear it would take this long, I never would have purchased 6 sessions here.
