The main road of Henderson is run down but once inside the ambiance of this little restaurant is lovely and homely and i forgot once settled in for dinner that i was in Henderson. The service is great and i could tell this was a family business which i later confirmed on their website was the same family as when i was a child. The cannelloni was delicious and great price at $26. All round great experience and i will definitely be coming back now.

Adriatico is a funky wee Italian establishment that actually looks a bit out of place in amongst…read morethe cheap eateries and two dollar shops that line the streets of West City. Though from the street Adriatico looks quite small, it's quite deceptive and can actually fit a large number of people, and can be pretty loud and bustling when it's busy. But this is part of the fun - it's very Italian! Adriatico offers a great selection of pizzas and pastas, and I personally recommend going there with a group of friends or your family and getting a few pizzas to share. The 'Adriatico Special' pizza is absolutely delicious, but they are also happy to create a pizza based on your craving. My friend had a pizza with salami, pineapple, mushrooms, capsicum, bacon and cheese made up for especially for him! Another great thing about Adriatico is that it is both licensed and offers a BYOW option. This means that while their meals are quite pricey (the average dinner meal costs about $30), you can save money on wine by bringing your own. Bonus!

We ordered: Wood Fired King Prawn. The King Prawn arrived and it was beautiful and very large. It was served with a black peppered pancetta and a gremolata sauce of which both enhanced the grilled prawn. Not a drop was left. Mamma D's East Coast Beef Meatballs. They were big and filling. Some of the best meatballs served in restaurant. I thought they were packed a little tight. I loosely form mine when tends to ensure tenderness. The sauce was perfect and they went well the side dishes. Cacio & Pepe was served and it was the prettiest we had ever seen and probably the best we have ever had. Put it right up there with those served in Roma. Polenta - another winner and beautiful. It also went well with the meatballs. Creamy and delicious just wish we could have eaten the whole dish or had a kitchen where we were staying...that good. Baduzzi was hopping the night we were there. So glad that we had reservations...highly recommend booking.

The owner is from Italy and the care shows. The pastas are great and the highlight are the meatballs. They are huge so beware but delicious. We were yearly too full after the great bread to even think about the pasta but they were both great. There are two parts to the restaurant but we liked the patio area outside. Overall a nice spot for both lunch and dinner.

Is it possible to give this place 10 stars?…read more If you are EVER in New Zealand, you better come here right when you get off the plane! Amano absolutely blew us away. We started with the pappardelle with lamb ragù, and WOW. The pasta was made fresh in-house and was cooked perfectly al dente. The lamb ragù was rich, flavorful, and paired perfectly with the pasta. Every bite was incredible. We also had the burrata salad with beetroot, orange, and hazelnut, which was such a great combination of flavors and textures. Fresh, creamy, sweet, and crunchy all in one dish. And of course, we had to pair dinner with a Prophet's Rock Pinot Noir. Since we love Pinot Noir, this was the perfect pairing for the meal. Amano absolutely lived up to the hype. From the food to the overall experience, this was easily one of the highlights of our time in Auckland. 10 stars if Yelp would let me! We had reservations and got a lovely table near those windows. They recommended sharing plates so we had the pappardelle which comes with a lamb ragu, the monk fish, and the cauliflower side. The main courses were excellent. The ragu was a nice comfort food with a rich taste over homemade noodles. The monk fish was light and tropical with a fennel and fruit side. These two dishes were nice compliments of each other. The cauliflower wasn't my fav but it was more of a personal taste so don't keep me from having you try it. I chose a local wine which was delicious. Love trying local wine when possible. We walked from our hotel so no parking worries. Service was excellent. Our server walked us through several of her and of patrons favorite options. Great stop.
