I was pretty excited when Lynn Mall announced that it was opening up all these restaurants and a new movie theater so I had been eagerly anticipating this for awhile when we decided to try out Goode Brothers over the weekend.
The restaurant decor is very modern and hip, open views to the bar and kitchen so you could see into it even if you were sitting outside like we were.
The menu looked promising with selection of starters, pasta, pizza and mains. I was impressed with the build your own pasta section where you get to choose your pasta and the sauce you want to add to it. If you want to take the hassle out of making a decision, they also offer the "gourmet" pasta menu where its a set pasta/sauce combo.
Seeing as this was an Italian themed restaurant, I decided to go with the tradition Margherita pizza while my BFF chose the chicken, bacon, mushroom cream sauce to go with her fettuccine. Both, I would assumed were simple and basic dishes that an "Italian themed" eatery should have in their arsenal.
What was delivered was a massive disappointment.
My Margherita pizza was made with cherry tomatoes and grated mozzarella (cheddar?) cheese. For $19.50, I expected a lot more sauce, some real tomatoes and actual fresh mozzarella cheese. Pretty sure I could get the same quality pizza at Pizza Hut across the parking lot at a fraction of the price.
The pasta was decent, however could do with a bit more flavour. The only positive thing about our meal was the side chips we ordered, it was crispy and hot and the aioli was tart.
The service wasn't too bad and the staff were friendly. They seem to be slightly over staffed as there was heaps of staff on hand however that might just be because they are newly opened. The staff seem to be a bit lost at times as they would converge on one section or table but when we want to flag someone down to get a take away box, they all seem to disappear.
I would come back here for drinks and maybe dessert but definitely not for their overpriced and uninspiring food. read more
