I walked past it for two years never really taking action towards my thoughts. It was always just something I'd say I would get around to doing. I finally got the chance to eat there tonight and it was just superb! Before I could even notice the food around me I was drawn in by the perfect temperature of the place, it was cozy like a little cottage. It was a well lit restaurant which made me feel in a comfortable space. I sat down and ordered a pizza right away! I ordered their special pizza (I think it was called The Special Italian Job" or something similar, it consisted of prawns, mushrooms, olives and covered with a nice and creamy cheesy topping) which I thought would be a new thing to try. Although the food did take a while to arrive to my table (there were many people there) , the great pizza totally made up for it! It had a crunchy base, with the toppings at a perfect temperature and ready to eat! Along with the side salad and rocket that I could layer on top of it. Again, I adore suburban places that do dinner (cafes, cafes everywhere but nowhere to eat in the evenings). The service was a bit shambolic but I really think the one waiter was doing his best. It's just that kind of place, you know - Italian. It has all the usuals and on recommendation we started with the breads which were all great but the pesto kind particularly good. And of course I then had pasta - Spinach & Ricotta Ravioli with Blue Cheese and Cream sauce. Definitely not an everyday food but it was freaking incredible. My daughter recommends the "tomatoey long pasta with the bacon in it" but I would be surprised if there is anything on this menu that's not amazing. I make a lot of pasta at home but I just don't know how to get the richness and depth of flavour that these Italian places are doing. Guess I'll just have to keep going out when it's time for a big old diet-bashing cheat meal. All the wines are $25 a bottle and there doesn't seem to be a list (or perhaps the waiter was just too busy to show it to us so starting reeling off options instead). Have a look at the bottles on display or let them choose one for you. The owner does all the cooking and the bickering between him and his waiter was like a sweet Italian bromance having a bad day. But really it just adds to the atmosphere - don't expect much from the service except good intentions and sit back and stuff yourself stupid.
