I "interviewed" many nephrologists in the city before deciding on this practice. I knew I would require lifelong care, so choosing a physician who was not just competent but also "got me" and my lifestyle was extremely important. Dr. Habwe is amazing-- one of the most capable, compassionate doctors I have ever encountered. She has 100s of patients, but somehow whenever you speak to her, you feel as though you are her only one. I not only feel completely confident in her care, but actually look forward to seeing her. She is also incredibly tenacious about helping you get necessary care from other specialists, when necessary. Full time doctor and advocate, and part time social worker and confidante. The best in the city, as far as I am concerned. Additionally, her front desk staffers-- Sandy and Eleanore-- are lovely. I got pre- and post- kidney transplant hugs from both of them. (and of course, they are helpful in terms of scheduling and lab follow-up work, too). Nephrology Center also has an in-house nurse to draw labs, which makes the whole process incredibly convenient. I've also never had a problem with insurance or billing. Dealing with a short term or chronic health ailment is never awesome, and of course we'd all prefer never to see doctors at all. But if you have bean troubles, I'd never hesitate to refer you to this practice. And if you see them over the long term, I bet they become like your extended family.

I called many times leaving a message; no response. Finally, 6 weeks later I get a call from the doctor saying that I submitted insufficient quantity for the test. I felt so enraged. I chose this place to avoid the chaotic GW MFA, but that was a mistake. Also, Dr. Khan spoke to me like he had no clue about anything. Almost like I was the doctor and he the patient.

I was a little anxious in the morning and on the way to the hospital, but as soon I saw Dr. Knoll I knew I was going to be fine -- and he even had me in stitches before I was even under the knife. I was very comfortable and confident with Dr. Knoll from my first interaction with him. He was listed on the Washingtonian Magazine Top Doc Award list in 2008 for general surgery (one of five docs selected). I am not about to go try the other 4, but in my mind he would be really hard to beat. He is a wonderful doctor and surgeon and an extremely nice, caring and funny person. He took amazing care of me -- and all of his staff were wonderful as well. I can't imagine you would do any better if you ever find yourself in need of a surgeon.

He performed a total thyroidectomy on me a few years back and did an absolutely stellar job. He's done this procedure hundreds (if not thousands) of times, so you're in great hands if you need to have this procedure done. Even the scar healed nicely--and is only noticeable by others that have had the procedure. ;-) He also provides wonderful follow-up care. He's friendly, easy to talk to/joke with, and has a very good bedside manner. One thing that I dislike about this office is the fact that they don't call you the day before your appointment to remind you as a courtesy. I've asked the staff why they don't do this and they claim they simply don't have the manpower to do this. The staff seems as though they're overworked at times and may come across as cranky. Though, to their credit, they've never made an error in my billing or appointment scheduling, so they have that going for them. ;-)

It even smells nice! Dr. Ascunce took his time with me, very friendly and good sense of humor. He really put me at ease. The staff is friendly and efficient, very short wait to see the doctor. I understand that some patients might take more time than others. That's natural, we all like to have time to ask questions and not feel rushed. Very little paperwork, no portals to register on, what a relief to not rely on the internet to schedule, set appointments and get test results. The pre-test 'fast' was the best I've heard of, and definitely improved my well-being. It was a 5-day, so I wasn't (ahem) in the bathroom for hours like the majority of my friends reported after 24-hour fasts. It was difficult to give up fruits, nuts and seeds at first, a staple of my diet, but I was never starving and felt great after. It's a cleanse! He went over the test results with me after the procedure, no follow up needed (phew!). I absolutely recommend Dr. Ascunce and his staff at VHC. I hope they are still in practice in 5 years!

He operated on both my feet many times then sent me to other Drs to get another opinion just to make sure he had diagnosed what he thought was the best thing to do. He and the other dr I saw both operated on my foot at the same time. And when he wasn't able to help he was truthful said he wasn't able to help and pointed me in the rite direction. Rabbitt saved my had after I was bit by a spider then I smashed my hand he sent me to a hand specialist. I was hurting so bad I was taking way to much pain meds he sent me to a pain specialist that sent me to JHU I had to go through a bunch of trials to find the best thing to do and in 2002 I had a medical pump put in me to help with my pain. 17 years now and I have my body and life back the pills were killing me, now when I take the meds I feel like crap. I have nothing but great respect and lots of trust for Dr. Rabbitt, I'm going to be really sad when he retires. He just operated on my shoulder I'll give an update in a few weeks don't start PT for 4 weeks. There are some people out there that haven't had a positive experience I guess if your not happy you can move to someone else. He does his best to make you better you also have to do the work that needs to be done. Not every surgery is going to go great I had a few fail. Doc your doing great!!!!

Dr stated I needed a hip replacement. Come back in a couple weeks and we will get you lined up. Lets do a bone scan. Got it done. Came back. Yep you def need a replacement. Come back in a few weeks we will get you lined up. I come in and get told we don't have the facilities to handle your size. I am very tall and very big. If he knew this was the case why in the heck did he keep me in pain for an extra few months and charge me for three visits. He could have done this at the first appt when I walked in. Ill tell you why. Chance to get me three rounds of pain meds. Which I wouldn't use anyway. And three paid visits. And Xrays. And bone scans. Kick back after kick back. Insurance abuse. Milk it out for all it's worth. I disputed the charges. They still insisted. And now its on my credit report. We will see how it plays out with my insurance company. I bet the Fed. Govt. wont think its too professional either.

When you walk in the office seems slightly outdated highlighted by the "Lavatory" sign, but in reality couldn't be more perfect. The atmosphere instantly transports you back to a time when doctors had personalized relationships with their patients with the simplicty being almost refreshing in this day and age. Dr. Framm is an experienced expert in his field, and provides a very thorough examination. While it's true they don't accept insurance, your insurance provider will in most cases be able to reimburse your visit. The still don't accept credit cards, but if you don't have a check on hand they will send you a bill so no worries there. In summary Dr. Framm is one of the top Optometrists in his field, and is currently in practice with his daughter Dr. Sklar. The excellent service embodies the small business family owned and operated practice. If you're looking for a state of the art facility and to be just a number in a system then this isn't the place for you. If you're looking for a doctor who cares about his patients and is genuinely interested in everything you have to say from how your day's going to what your ailments are then this is the place for you. Great service, great results. I recommend Dr. Framm to the highest degree.

The doctor is socializing with others and makes you sit and wait. For a place that doesn't take insurance, you'd expect better service. Also, they do not accept credit cards and it is expensive to get treated here. It costs $150-250 to get treated here for a checkup. They only accept checks. Who keeps a check handy these days?! There is very little parking (two spots) and no sign on the building to know where the doctor's office is located. They have very old facilities, and it takes months to get a scheduled appointment even when you are an old patient. I had a recent emergency situation and they were not accommodating at all (to be fair, it was the receptionist who was horrible), but when I spoke to the doctor, he did not help or resolve the issue, so I am no longer using this practice.

He is gentle and calm, does your bloodwork himself, and is very approachable. That said, if you have more complex or chronic health issues, he may not be the best person to assist you. I find he's best for annual physicals, routine issues, and so forth. But I still frequently recommend him to coworkers and friends because I never feel rushed or dismissed by him.
