My results back then were more than anything I could have hoped for. This time I broke my ankle and needed emergency surgery. Two weeks after my surgery, I was told to start PT for at least 8-10 weeks. There was no doubt in my mind where I was going for my PT. The doctors at POPT are beyond amazing and really miracle workers as far as I am concerned. Dr Phil Lombardo is so knowledgeable and goes above and beyond in making sure all your issues are addressed. He is patient, answers all your questions and truly makes you feel cared for. There are so many things that set them apart from other PT facilities but what stands out for me as the most important factor is that the doc is hands on throughout your entire session. They don't just send you on your way for 40 minutes to do exercises on your own. Either Dr Phil, Dr Scott or one of the doctoral students were there to guide you, watch you and just be with you while you are doing what you need to do to get back to 100%. Not only are Dr Phil and Dr Scott unbelievable at what they do, Adrianna, the doctoral student doing a rotation there, was the sunshine everyone needed to make a painful process not so bad. Each and every intern there made me feel comfortable and would help me thru any task I was having a difficult time with. Cassiana is the first person you speak to and see when you walk in the door. She is an absolute pleasure and just adds to the specialness of this practice. I can not stress enough how Dr Phil and the entire staff at POPT turned such a traumatic event in my life into such a positive, dare I say fun, and most importantly, a successful recovery.

Dr. Lombardo wanted to know all about my physical therapy issues and he gives me all sorts of useful tips for my TMJ and overall physical well being while he is working with me to help get me back on my feet again.

My fracture is not common and many doctors would not see me. I had sent my x-rays to his office at Restoration Orthopaedics, and was called the next day to come in for a consultation. Dr. Allert spent so much time explaining what was needed to get my elbow stable! He even drew pictures of the joint. I was scheduled for surgery 3 days later. He operated on my elbow in Hackensack Hospital and replaced my radial head with a titanium joint. My recovery was without pain. Dr. Allert is not only an accomplished surgeon, but he is compassionate and empathetic. He immediately put me at ease! I am now 8 weeks post-op and I have been seen every 2-4 weeks to monitor my progress. I have no restrictions with mobility at this point. I am so grateful to Dr. Allert! I would give him a million stars if I could!

Dr. Long was referred to me thru a family friend! It was not an easy task to find a Neuro-Surgeon…read morethat took my insurance. My very first visit Dr. Long put me at ease as we spoke about his education, internships at various hospitals under some top surgeons in the Tri state area and Philadelphia and to be accepted by Hackensack University Hospital to perform surgeries. He describe what I would be going through with the procedure. I opted to do an L4 surgery instead of a cervical procedure of c5,6 and 7. I have had 2 lower back surgeries 25 and 30 years ago and felt I would recover much quicker with the lower back. My surgery took place on the 16th of February of this year. All went well as expected and was home within hours of the surgery and actually walked around my block with a walker with my daughter! I felt that I made the right choice and feeling great! Dr. Long followed up that night and I had nothing but praise! 10 days later, I saw Dr. Long for a follow up and he said I looked great and I did feel great! Observing my incision, he noticed a bit of secretion and said keep an eye on it. 5 pm that day, I was unable to walk, my wife called Dr. Long and he advised her to get me to the hospital if things got worse. No pun intended, Long story short, I ended up back in the hospital with Dr. Long having to do surgery again because of the secretion in my back. He explained to my wife that I may have come down with serious infections due to my high white blood cell count! All thru the process, Dr. Long continued his communication with my wife on how serious the situation was and with in days of all of the cultures coming back with very high positive infection results, Dr. Long communicated with me and my wife that another surgery was needed asap to install drains into my back because of the infections. Both Staph and blood infections took over my body and for nearly 2 months, I laid in the hospital in Hackensack! There wasn't one day that Dr. Long didn't visit or call me or my wife with the latest on my blood test for the infections! I can't say enough for his bedside manor and the group of doctors he used to get me better! I missed one of my favorite holidays, St. Patrick's Day and he brought me in a dinner that his wife cooked! That is bedside manor!!! It has been 4 months now since my last surgery and I am still on antibiotics but feeling great with therapy and very strong! We stay in touch and I do very much thank him for taking care of me! Thank you Orthopedic Spine and sports Medicine Center in Paramus, New Jersey for accepting Dr. William D. Long III into the group! In my experience, I've never dealt with a practice as incompetent--and potentially fraudulent--as this one. The adage "never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity" certainly applies here, so take this anecdote with a grain of salt. I visited this practice for a second opinion regarding some persistent, minor tenderness in my foot. A previous doctor had likely diagnosed the issue correctly, but for the sake of crossing T's and dotting I's, I wanted to get x-rays and a second opinion. While the x-ray process was satisfactory, the consultation I received from the so-called doctor was laughable. He clearly had little--if any--understanding of endurance athletics and flip-flopped on diagnoses and remedies at least a dozen times in under 10 minutes. Perhaps he was going for a world record? In his incoherent bleating, he shifted from claiming I had a stress fracture (despite me running 75+ miles a week for several months on that foot), to walking it back with "never mind, you don't," to recommending an EKG, to postulating prescribing a nerve medication typically used by senior citizens (I'm nowhere near that age group). Finally, he came full circle and recommended an MRI to diagnose a stress fracture--even though he admitted I "probably" didn't have one. I made it clear to both the doctor and the staff that I had no intention of spending money on an MRI, yet they scheduled one for me anyway without my consent. The cherry on top of this insult sundae was the billing process. I paid for the x-rays during the visit, but was later charged again for both the x-rays and the consultation. I received multiple text messages, emails, and physical letters demanding payment, all reflecting the double charge. Attempts to pay online showed a ridiculous price, so I had to call the office several times to get it sorted out. After the first call, I was told they would contact me with the corrected bill. Three weeks went by with no follow-up--just more letters with the same inflated charges--so I had to call again. Thankfully, I wasn't ultimately double charged, but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth. Again, I can't say definitively that this is a fraudulent practice--malice, stupidity, and all that jazz--but I would still avoid this place like the plague based on my experience.
