Knowledgeable and experienced crew. Thorough and well done radon mitigation system installation.read more

Just be careful. The exhaust system itself seams to be installed and working just fine. The initial…read moresump pump that was installed ended up "failing" a few months after installation though and flooding out our finished basement ($5k in damages). We assumed it was just a bad pump which I would never blame on the installer. They were great with agreeing to come out and install a new one. We even paid them install a backup system shortly after so this would never happen again. A few months later we got a notification that the primary sump pump wasn't working AGAIN. Luckily we had the backup pump installed and we didn't have another flood. We decided to bring in a licensed plumber. He looked things over and told us that the sump wasn't installed as it should have been so we had an airlock in the main pump. Looking back at the second "failure" it was likely the same thing happened with the first pump that caused the flood. We have been in communication with them and asked for a reasonable refund on the installation of the second pump (we asked for nothing related all the damage caused by the first failure). They maintained that they did nothing wrong. We are still waiting on the refund. I know they install a ton of these systems, and it sounds like this isn't common (according to them). Maybe we just got unlucky with having two sump pumps fail in the matter of a couple months. And that the licensed pumper was incorrect with his assessment of how it should have been installed. Maybe. But I just wanted to mention to be careful with the sump pump installation if you decide to go with them.

One important quality is that they weren't creating any false sense of urgency. Radon isn't great for health and absolutely should be addressed, but it also wasn't a threat to my health. The installer was professional and also patient with my questions. He fully explained exactly what the system was doing, what it was going to look like, and A couple weeks later, the electrician came through to permanently hook up the mitigation system. He was also professional and very personable, and made sure we had no questions. With the provided follow up test that we just plopped in a usps box, our radon levels dropped from over 9 to less than .9! One thing to keep in mind if you're getting a radon mitigation system installed: you'll have a big ol white tube going up the side of your house And out your roof. For a higher fee (I believe it was 400), you can have them route it out your garage to be inconspicuous. Last thing: we were worried about the fan being loud. I can't hear it at all. Lifetime did a great job and thank you so much for all the work!

Listen to what the other reviews mention - Mark Thomas is the best and is well worth it…read more I recently purchases a duplex down in Bayview and he was recommended to me by my realtor, Norm Terapak (Terapak Realty), as being the best. After calling up and speaking with his assistant about his rates and time, I noticed that it was a little more expensive than other home inspectors. She did mention that it is since he is the best, has the best reports, gets on the roof, and takes his time going through. I took Norm and her word for it and had Mark take a look at the property. His assistant called to let me know that he was running late due to traffic yet he still showed up on time, which is always a plus. We spent more than 4 hours looking through EVERYTHING, and I mean he looked at and tested everything. I have been told that most inspectors don't go up on roofs anymore yet Mark got up on the roof, snapped pictures, and was checking it out for 15 minutes. Mark uses a digital camera to take dozens of pictures and has a laptop on site that he uploads them to right away. He puts together his digital report as he goes. In all he provided a digital PDF copy of the report that was 37 pages long with so much detail. Not only did it include a few pictures on each page, descriptions, but also diagrams of how to correct it or what it should look like. Mark also knew I was a first time duplex buyer and would educate me along the way, show me various items, and explain things in detail so I would understand and know for the future. He was very educational and helpful. He may be a little more expensive than others yet what he found I was able to get some serious money knocked off the price so it was money very well spent. Highly recommend Mark and will be using him in the future.

All of the other reviewers are right, he is incredibly thorough, describes things in a way anyone could understand and goes over the report with you on-site. He says some inspection places don't do the report on-site and I think that would be really inconvenient. As we were talking he mentioned some things that I then asked him to include in the report and he was happy to do so. What a drag it would have been to go over it all myself and ask for changes later. You can't go wrong here if you need the best.

My husband and I needed someone…read morequalified to inspect a 1930s era property, where a large house had been built on the site of an old farmstead and still included the stone ruins of a barn. We were impressed with Scot's huge number of positive Google reviews and his evident commitment to helping people buy, inhabit, and improve historical properties (both landmarked and "vintage"). Our hopes for a thorough and helpful inspection were realized. Scot listened to our concerns and he answered all our questions as we walked through and looked at the property. He also asked our realtor what questions she had. We learned a great deal about the house from our walk-through with him. Most important, Scot emphasized the actions we should take to remedy the problems he discovered. He was able to suggest reputable tradesmen and specialists who could solve the problems he identified. His manner was encouraging and motivating rather than pushy. He gets high marks for that. Scot is a local treasure. I would definitely recommend him to anyone in the process of purchasing an older home or a newer home that needs a lot of work off the bat. I came away from the inspection with a clear action plan and confidence in knowing the condition of the property.

I've…read morepurchased 4 homes in three different states and his inspection was the least detailed and most expensive. Therefore, from my experience he over prices and under delivers. I chose him because I thought paying extra was going to get me a better inspection. I compared prices and he was actually the most expensive of the three inspectors I was considering. If his inspection was much cheaper then I'd give him an A but since he is charging a premium price but not providing a premium service, he gets a C+. I waited 2 years to write this review after having another home inspection by one of his peers in the Milwaukee area. I was out of state when he did the inspection and he said the would be more thorough and add more pictures because I couldn't be present which was very far from the truth. First he tried to send his assistant to do the inspection whereas all of the marketing materials on his website mention Scott and his experience and don't mention his assistant. He missed many issues that should have been obvious to an inspector but have been costly to repair. He didn't mention the Asbestos-Contaminated Vermiculite Insulation or the Asbestos titles or rotted floor joist, which other contractors mentioned immediately upon visiting my home nor a serious basement issues which later cost $12K to replace. He only put 61 photos in the inspection whereas an inspection I did recently in Milwaukee by a less expensive inspector provided 139 photos and much more details for $100 less. The inspection report was not detailed and clearly from a template with every other statement saying "get a specialist to check out the basement, the roof, the chimney, electrical, etc". The whole report appear to be designed to deflect any blame for missing so many things.
